Rose walks into the room when its clear the creature had vanished and approches Gwen with a big smile on her face. Excellent work hun! Just wait until people hear about this! Gwen, the bard who soothed the beholder. I can already imagine it. Rose then turned her attention to what she presumed was the forge itself, looking to see if she could understand how it worked or if there were any clues to its function nearby. When Root brought blue prints she also looked those over to see what they might be. Finally she took the sending stone out of her pocket and activated it, letting (the persons who name i didn't forget) knew the mine was safe and that the party would wait for the arrival of (the guy whose name i totally remember).
Bell notices Rose clutching the sending stone and invoking it’s magic as she returns from donning her armor. “... we found the forge, but do we know if it’s safe yet? Did you guys clear out all the other nooks and crannies last time? There could still be some undead lurking about... we know the ghouls are somewhere at least.”

"Ummmm, funky green flames atop the pedestal? Nobody else gets freaked out by that?"Fallan asks. "Before we go dividing the loot, shouldn't we figure out what this is about?" She edges into the room, but is obviously doing her best to stay against walls that allow her to keep maximum distance between the pedestal and herself.
Rose puts away the sending stone and shurgs. It'll take a few days to get here. The four of us won't be able to fully keep this place secured but if we can't hunt down a few ghouls in a couple of days we are in the wrong line of work.
Gwen got chuckle out of Bells commentary. There's only one man here hun. You aint got nothing the rest of us don't have a general idea of what it looks like. And oooooh.... yeah.. It'll be an amazing tale, though I'm sure I'd rather be the one telling it. I.. May stay off the adventuring life after we're done here hun. I think I've had enough excitement for my entire life between everything that's happened since the dragon. I may join Ja'ree and help him with the town or something. Plus it means you'll always have a reason to do your best to come home. she says with a smile.
As Rose turns her attention to the the back wall, it does indeed look like what one would expect a 'mage forge' to look like, as the table was marked by intricate designs, all seeming to coalesce around the flame that Fallan was so terrified of. And almost instinctively, Rose can tell that this is not only the source of the forge's magic, but all the magic suffusing the mine itself. This seemed to be the focal point of everything. But it was also clear that the magic of the forge had waned for one reason or another. Anything that would be magicked here would take an extraordinarily long time outside the most simplistic of enchantments. Anything more complex only adds to the time it will take to make.
On the other end of the sending stone ------>SILDAR<-----responds, letting Rose know that the message was received, and that he and some friends from his order would be coming soon.
As all this is going on, the sounds of clattering footsteps can be heard echoing from somewhere outside, and it sounds as if those footsteps are running directly towards where they are, only to be drowned out by the crashing of waves from the inlet.
"So, are we just going to prepare to *defend* against whatever is coming this way from inside here? I mean, it seems to have worked for 'Old Floatie Eye", right? Should work for us!"The group couldn't quite tell if Fallan was being facetious or serious, but they did notice that she was trying to find a place to stand that had a table between herself and the two doors.
Gwen nods a bit at Fallan's question Me too. Unless he was an enemy from the beginning and followed us here, I doubt it's him. And the beholder said he'd been beset by attacks frequently, or atleast alluded to it.. and the bodies out front sort of prove it... My only guess is that it may be another swarm of undead...

Gwen Listening: 23
Bell tries hard, but between the crashing echo of the waves the mine is apparently named after, the natural echo of a cave or mine, and the fact it was on the other side of a wall, it was hard to tell. The steps however continue to get closer by the moment and chances are they'll be here soon... Unlike Bell however, her elvish ears and her own history as a bard helped her fine tune her ability to filter out one noise from another, and after the next crash of the waves down the curved staircase. Panic filled her eyes as she whispered loudly to the group.
I hear the ghouls, probably the same ones from before, however, I hear a whispering noise.. like you imagine to hear from a specter or some other apparition... and I hear laughing... two pairs of voices cackling like the flaming skull but i also hear noises like rapid ice and crackling lightning....
Do we stay here or flee? And if we flee, where will we go? Back to the water? some other place?
"I'm no tactician... hells bells, I am no fighter... but I know about fleeing. If you don't know where you are going, or what you expect to run into there, you'll be constantly encountering trouble, or trouble will be running into you WAY too often. So I recommend we stay here and force whatever's coming to be where WE want them to. So, how about we DON'T let them come in behind us - through the armory/storage room. Oh, didn't I tell you about that one? Sorry. But I say we bar the outside door to that, and then again from the door into this room, just to be safe. Then they can only come through those double doors that "Floatie Eye" seemed to keep blasting attackers through with great success." Fallan fidgets and swipes the toe of her boot through the dirty floor and then looks to the others: "But that's just an idea. Whatever you want, we can do."
With that, she continues to edge toward the door to the armory that she had poked her head through before when she first spotted the previous Guardian.
“Well I don’t mind defending but if we want to go we need to do it now. We’ll have to fight eventually as we need to clear this place out. What’s the plan Rose?” Root will retract his claws and get himself ready for a fight.
Rose smiles up at Gwen, a little disappointed she wouldn't be coming with them after all this, but understanding of her reasoning. That sounds like a great idea hun, I'm sure Ja'Ree will appreciate the help. I'll just have to not wander too far then, afterall, we have a wedding to plan! Hmm? Footsteps? Either undead or maybe the drow have sent more agents this way? Well, undead then? Let's hope that's all it is. I think Fallan has the right idea. We hold our ground, funnel them in through the front door. We came so far to find the forge so I'm not eager to give up the room just yet. Besides, it seems they'll be here shortly anyway. With that Rose draws her hammer and aapproaches the door, prepared to attack the first hostile that enters.
Bell takes position by the doorway with Rose, ready to do the same from the other side. "Sounds good to me! Root and Fallan, see if you can push something heavy in front of the other entrance then." Then she takes a swig from her jug, draws her rapier and poises herself.

With a quick nod of her head, Fallan immediately ducks into the Armory Room. She immediately starts to look for anything that looks like polearms that might be used to bar the door. I there's no way to do that, she'll just start pushing everything she can against the door to the outside, with as many "pointy ends" sticking in the direction of anything that might come in. Once she has moved all she can, she will move to stand in the doorjamb of the inner door, so she can watch both exits to the outside, to see which have unwanted visitors coming through it. She will look around inside the "pedestal room" for what she might push in front of this inner door if she needs to retreat inside with the rest of the party.
"Oh, joy. UNDEAD? I guess this is going to be my lot in life anyway. Let's put these folks out of OUR misery as quickly as we can!"
Unfortunately for Fallan, almost everything, aside from the tools is effectively 'made out of' the wall around it or otherwise incorporated into the structure itself in the main forge area. In the armory however, there are plenty of various, mundane spears, swords and the like, which she and Root manage to get a good spike and blade pile though there wasn't much to settle it on, so they act more like Caltrops, as Root himself pushes against the door to help bar it. With Fallan inside the inner-door ready to do whatever was needed on either side. Rose and Bell take positions on opposite sides of the door, ready to strike whatever comes through the doors (which are facing 'out').
After another long, tense moment, Two ghouls appear but they stay outside of the range for physical attacks, padding in circles like trained dogs, though they seemed to still be damaged from earlier. After which, a blue skull surrounded by an aura of frost, and a veridian skull with lightning crackling around it were laughing, much as the green flaming skull had been before. Both sitting at what one would assume was roughly human-height, but positioned angularly to the doors.
A voice as chill as the grave echoes though no body is seen, it's heard as though its not far from Bells position. Ahhhh... I see...... You have... taken care... of the Spectator..... Good, good. He was ... a problem. He kept me from my forge.... from my treasures... it has been centuries.... since last I saw mortals in these halls..... Tell me... why have you come here? Is it.. to steal what is mine? Or some other goal?
"We were thinkin' it's a shame this beautiful, powerful forge has sat unused for so long, and some folk who think the same sought us out and hired us help make it usable again. The legend of this mine, it's legacy, has stood the test of time, inspiring the faith of miners and smiths for generations. I think it would be a waste not to restore it to its former majesty. What's your goal for the forge, Mr. Disembodied Voice?"
