Kor has run several cons for many years, selling fake tinctures, (un)magical items, "prime" real estate and many more. Recently, on an expedition to gain some more goods for his next sale, he was exposed to a massive burst of raw magical energy (wild magic origin). Since then, he's realised some of his magical potential, however also that it comes at a price. He has begun weaving a little magic here and there as part of his cons, in order to bolster their impact and earn more money, however not all attempts have gone as planned.
Short Backstory - Grunt soldier turned captain of small mercenary company. Her entire company was wiped out on a job by a red dragon save two, with her sword melted (which she still carries) leaving her with PTSD and a fear of losing her weapon, and the other young man quite insane and obsessed with fire. She is taking odd bounty jobs and always carries two swords with a healthy collection at home. To be captured and disarmed is immensely painful and distressing.
Race: Human (Variant Feat: Elemental Mastery-Fire) (Neutral Good Alignment)
Class: Warlock (Fiend- Patron Evil Aligned)
Background: Guild Merchant
Ability Scores (Point Buy or Standard Array) : Standard Array
Short Backstory: Richard is many things. He's an accomplished jeweler, skilled merchant, and though he'd never admit it, an utter coward. Raised in Cansae and taught the ways of the trade by his father (A former Selkie jeweler) and mother (the merchant), Richard took over the family shop once his parents decided they wanted to retire. Passing along the word of his reputation to the Guild of Master Merchants and Sea Farers, Richard was quickly able to start his own trade with the Foxes under the name of Salazar (because who could take a man named Richard Button seriously?). After a few years, he finally started earning a reputation of his own. He was out celebrating his business's first year in the green when he was shanghaied by pirates or scoundrels of some sort. Richard realized he was partially to blame, getting as drunk as he did, but now he feels utterly powerless. Feeling trapped, he's called out to The Light for days, with no response, praying constantly as he toiled. As he went to sleep two nights ago, he sent his prayers out to anyone who would answer, trying to get any help he could. Someone answered, finally, promising to help in return for service. When Richard said he would serve, he unwittingly agreed to the Pact, as well as a new form of servitude.
Probably a bit late but this really sounds awesome. Not done pbp before.

My hit one-man show “The Blundering” is taking Lucarcia by storm! Everyday folk are left in stitches by my writ, wit and bit, jeering at the fool who claims to rule. “Man of the people” they call me, “Our hero”
But I’m no hero. I’m back to a world of comfort, a world of privilege that I know all too well. And all I can do is embrace the excess. The wine. The money. The status. I’ve let it all pull me down to the same level as those I swore I’d never be.
I have heard all the great stories, played the hero enough times, but I’m not it. I’m a hypocrite, a scumbag and a bit of a liability. Oh and a drunk, a thirsty one at that so.... another bottle?
It's late Sunday evening here on the east coast of the USA and I just discovered this thread. I'd like very much to participate but I'd understand if all the slots are filled. I'll check back in the morning to see the DM's reply. If accepted, I'll create a new character, whatever the party needs to balance the group, any class, male or female, human or not.
I've read all the submissions so far and there are some cracking ones. Kudos to those of you who have read the background on the world and Lucarcia and made characters to fit in. That's really appreciated. I've got the nucleus of a group in my head now, but some people have said they are still working on fleshing out ideas and backstories, so let's give it a few more days. In the interests of giving everyone a chance I'll leave submissions open till Thursday (25th) morning UK time.

5. Ever curious about the doings of the the Guild of Master Merchants and Seafarers the Verdant Queen sends 'agents' into areas she deems of interest to report back to her their various activities. One such that attracted her attention was the effort of the Guild to establish a new out post at Aeer. There it was where our stalwart, Nos Heliwr, had an unfortunate run of bad luck. Whilst trying to elicit interesting tidbits of information from an individual who was a few sheets into the wind, his dagger accidentally ended up making a few slices along the source's ribs. Normally such a unfortunate event could be covered up fairly easily under most circumstances but, sad to say for Nos Heliwr, the wounded man was the brother of an Enforcer. Needless to say ending up chained to a galley oar was a bit better than swinging in the wind as crow food, though Nos Heliwr was not one to suffer such indignities lying down; no, he was determined to escape this degrading predicament and, maybe, serve some juicy revenge - although he was not sure how the Verdant Queen would react to his failure. Though, to be fair to him, he made no mention of his patroness or his mission and, surely, that had to bear some weight when things were 'considered'. If she even noticed that he had gone silent. If he survived that is.
The unwanted son of a tavern girl and a sailor, Quin grew up on the streets of Selkie. Escaping the horrors of the orphanage, Quin learned to pick pockets and survive by his wits from a fellow urchin by the name of Thad. A keen mind paired with quick and nimble fingers has allowed him to survive but not thrive. His dark hair and bronze skin often make him a target of ridicule among the fairer complexion Lucarcian's.

Background - Criminal / Spy
Ability Scores (Point Buy or Standard Array) - Point
Short Backstory -
Pandal was raised in a hodgepodge family of nomadic freed slaves, roaming Ibini, attempting to avoid them being forced back to servitude. He encountered House Jade, in the form of Julian Jade, while heading along the North coast. They met and bonded in the shipping port of Eli, Pandal was a youngling and found work as a spy. After many years of this he graduated in to darker deeds and dealings across many the islands, utilising the extra money to support his wayward family, to help avoid their need to expose themselves to the wider population.
Loyal always to his family, doing everything and almost anything for them, he has regrets over the imprisonment of another human for a deed he committed, but not enough to come clean, or to cut off the support to his family.
After a recent failed job, where he was drawn in by group of freedom fighters, who he helped free some slaves, he headed with them for a while, honing both his skills as a thief and picking up some skills from the fighters. He has since moved on from this alliance and is now looking for the next big bag of coins.
Short Backstory: Bandig is an outcast of his clan, favoring human schools of magic over dwarven traditions. He is a seeker if knowledge and looks for liked minded individuals.
Tannal's clan roams the eastern edge of Kiltland, to the coast. He is a nephew of the chief and a durable and fierce warrior, able to live well in a cold and hostile land. He doesn't think he looks for fights, but he ends up in more than his share of them. When his tribe welcomed visitors from Fortriu, discussing an alliance, Tannal insulted their leader by accidentally mispronouncing his name (to be fair, it sounded pretty similar to "milkmaid"), then made the offense mortal by laughing in the man's face when called out about it. He managed to slay both visitors in the brawl, but his uncle, who was interested in the match and not wanting a feud with Fortriu, was not pleased. That night, Tannal was ambushed and beaten unconscious. He spent a few days trussed up and blindfolded, and woke up, head and beard shaven, across the sea in Lucarcia. He saw more people the next five minutes than he'd seen in his entire life.

I've had a shed load of submissions, far more than I was expecting or hoping for, so thanks to everyone who has applied. I'm closing down submissions now so I can spend a bit of time going through these and building a party. I'll contact everyone who I've selected via PM in the next day or so, and post a follow up in here when I've contacted the successful applicants.
I have contacted everyone who was successful via a PM. So if you've not got a PM from me you've not got in yet. These things being as they are, I'd imagine spaces will come available in future so I'll keep you all in mind when and if we get a spare slot in future.
Once again, thanks for your interest in this game and the many very kind words about Rodinia, which has given me a great feeling in itself.
We have had a retiree in the current Lucarcian Incident campaign and so are looking for a new recruit. Anyone interested in joining our existing team, please post applications below.
The Party
We currently have 4 PCs:-
Claire - human fighter and polearm master, struggling to balance her calling to the arcane.
Nos Heliwr - human rogue and secretly a member of the Jade Assassins
Salazar - human merchant with a tempting fiendish patron
Vaclav - human noble wizard who appears to have been targeted in a political kidnapping.
Background
The party is approaching the town of Grunal in Northern Ibini (see links for background reading). The local Baron there has put up signs in the region asking for 'Exceptional people to help with a Delicate Matter', which is fast becoming talk of the area. Whether the party are going to go and see the local chamberlain, Nevil, about this Delicate Matter, is as yet undecided.
Applications
If you'd be interested in joining this group, for what is pretty much a sandbox campaign with a few hooks and pointers here and there, plus some political intrigue and a lot of focus on character development, please post below. The players in the campaign have expressed a preference for a healer (not necessarily a cleric or even someone only focused on healing, though). Please take that into consideration when applying but note we will pick the most interesting, exciting and fitting application, but with a preference for a healer.

Feel free to post any questions you want in the thread here.
Hiya, thought I'd add my name for this application please!

STR14 DEX8 CON14 INT10 WIS15 CHA10 Background: I have played DND since 1980's, with a few decades hiatus from my teenage years. I have been getting back into this year, I play in Adventurers league, have a regular local game (currently online) and play on a PBP server. Now looking to add an extra game as I have some time. Story: Nixco was raised in a nice home in the city of Barusi, her mother retired enforcer that worked as a Politician. Her father abandoned them and her three sisters when she was young and she was mostly raised by her eldest sister. Nixco trained with the militia as soon as she was able and found herself in a skirmish with some bandits very quickly after being allowed into the field. During the assault which none of her team survived and Ilmater, god of endurance, gave an unmistakable sign and lead to her surviving the battle and smiting her foes. Upon recalling this story, the officers and peers in the militia began to cast doubt and shame her as a coward, denouncing her new found religion, as is common in Barusi, leading her to retreat to hermitude. She now returns to the world with a great new understanding of herself and a desire to good. She has crossed the mountains and switched to the East coast to Grunal where there are more accepting of religion, and have the church of light.
