"I'm glad to have helped, Direcris. We ought to read the book, probably, before giving it to her?" Dench says. "I worry about that as well, Sir Gadston. Are there three or four stories to this building?"
Looking much refreshed after a catnap, Uri says "We have come this far, we should finish the job now. Are there any preparations we should make? What is our plan?"
"Gadston. Did the woman say or do anything when you entered? Before we were able to join you?" Direcris looks toward the window, trying to match its location with what he could see of the outside.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Have see seen a way up beside crawling on the exterior of the building?" Dench asks. "We've kind of been just shoving our way through the place. It hasn't been easy, but it does seem to have been our plan. Do we want to continue?'
(OOC: Dench will seek to recover some health during his short rest: 31 and then his Con modifier per dice rolled, right?)
"Well," Gadston says thoughtfully. "She took a satchel she and climbed out the window with it after telling the skeletons to get them then returned to help with the battle."
Gadston cleans his weapons and checks his gear. He then settles in to rest for a few moments, meditating and even praying now and then.
Direcris looking out the window doesn't see a sigh of the satchel. There is a starry night above, when he looks toward the domed roof, but the ground below has become obscured by a creeping fog.
"A fog! Now there's a fog?" Dench says. "I went to sleep in a fog once and woke up in a vampire's kingdom. Terrible experience. I say we push forward as soon as we are rested." He thinks for a moment. "We saw that vampire go up through a trap door. Was that just up one story?"
Once they are done resting, Dench will lean out into the hallway just long enough to look for a staircase or ladder up to the next level.
Uri cautiously makes his way along the corridor, blending into the shadows* where possible, and begins to scout the staircase.
*Cloak of Shadows (PHB, pg. 80)
When you are in an area of dim light or darkness, you can use your action to become invisible. You remain invisible until you make an attack, cast a spell, or are in an area of bright light.
When it is time to move on, Gadston will ready his things and move to the stairs. "I do not favor being the instrument to bring more undead into the world." he says under his breath.
Knowing his armor makes it near impossible to be stealthy, Gadston takes his first step onto the stairs.
Like Sir Gaston, Dench stays toward the back of the group, letting Uri scout ahead. He will reach the stairs a step or two behind Gaston, not too far ahead of Direcris. He readies the spell Spirit Guardians in case he or any member of the party is attacked.
"Thank you. I are not sure I would have managed the Hut without your healing."
Uri continues to lick his wounds. Literally.
(If we manage to achieve the complete rest, he will spend hit dice - augmented by Periapt of Wound Closure - to regain lost hit points: 21 x 2)
Sir Gadston
"Blasted Vampires," he says. "Should have known from the reference the old woman was making."
Gadston stops and thinks for a moment then asks: "By obtaining what she desires do you think we will be creating another evil in the world?"
"I'm glad to have helped, Direcris. We ought to read the book, probably, before giving it to her?" Dench says. "I worry about that as well, Sir Gadston. Are there three or four stories to this building?"
OOC: Are we taking a long or short rest?
Death on the Water and Baldur's Gate Bodyguard
(Everyone can take a short rest, it has not been a full day to take a long rest yet.)
Based on how high the first floor was, there should only be another floor.

((When they're ready to go, Direcris will look out the window and see if the satchel is visible. For now, he'll stay seated.))
"We have to consider what other wards there may be. Is there just the one against the undead, or ones against the living as well?"
"Well spotted, m'lud", applauds Uri sincerely.
(Plus CON mod for each hit die rolled, yes)

There is a staircase at the end of the hallway that spirals up.
