Uri makes his way up the spiral staircase and emerges into the domed roof of the tower. There, waiting expectantly in a lavish chair facing the stairs, is a pale man in scholar's robes. He taps his fingers on the desk next to him as he watches the entrance, but does not notice the invisible monk. In addition the the telescope, strange devices, and tubes mentioned before Uri spies a book on a small shelf with the sickle symbol the group is looking for.
(OOC: Is it possible for Uri to attempted to reach the book? Either by sneaking, or by shadow step? His goal would be to grab the book as surreptitiously as possible and then escape; ideally the way he has come or, if blocked, out through the telescope aperture.)
(Uri is wishing he'd remembered *pass without trace* or even *silence* - sadly, both require verbal components which, whilst clearly deliberate, is also quite ironic)
"What on earth is taking Uri so long?" he whispers to the others. "I have not heard any battle sounds but, these are undead and they strike quick from the shadows."
(OOC: I'm not suggesting it confers any mechanical advantage, but Uri does have racial reach which might assist the visual of a long arm stealthily reaching up to grab the book!)
> they strike quick from the shadows That's what Uri likes to do too!
Dench stares up the spiral staircase, and whispers to Sir Gadston, "I'm not sure why we haven't heard from Uri, but the quiet is a good sign? Maybe? Surely if he were fighting, we would hear him?"
Uri appears from the shadows next to Gadston like a stage magician, flourishing the book and a wide toothy grin. Suddenly a worried look crosses his face, "Do you think this is the right book?", he whispers.
He thinks for a moment. "All I remember of the woman's description of the book was that it had stars in a crescent shape. This one has that."
He glances at Sir Gadston. "We might read a bit of it. Does it seem to contain the sort of information she wanted? But I suggest we at least move down this tricky," he glances at Direcris, "hall first?"
"Let us away to a place of sanctuary, or at least defensibility", Uri suggests. "This book is going to get us into trouble if we're not careful", he predicts gloomily.

Dench is listening at the bottom of the spiral staircase, behind Sir Gadston, amazed at how stealthy Uri is.
Death on the Water and Baldur's Gate Bodyguard

(Either would work for Uri, I would just need a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check.)
Uri sneaks to the bookshelf and tries to withdraw the book (Sleight of hand: 25).
Whether or not he is detected, he will shadow step as far back down the stairs as he is able. If detected, he will call out to the others.
Sir Gadston

That's what Uri likes to do too!

Direcris will go back to the other end of the hall to make sure no one is coming from downstairs.
Perception: 8
((He only walks into the walls three times before returning to the others.))
Sir Gadston
Seeing this Gadston chuckles a bit. "Got into my secret flask did ya Direcris," he whispers with a slight laugh.
Direcris smiles in return. "None of the taste, only the damage." he whispers.

Uri slips back to the rest of the group with the book, unnoticed by the figure.
Uri appears from the shadows next to Gadston like a stage magician, flourishing the book and a wide toothy grin. Suddenly a worried look crosses his face, "Do you think this is the right book?", he whispers.
Sir Gadston
Gadston almost jumps out of his skin with Uri's little magic stunt. 'Egad Man," he exclaims. "You gave the fright of my life."
When Gadston hears Uri question about a book his eyebrows arch "You mean you found it? Good work old man." Gadston says and slaps Uri on the back.
"Yes," Dench says. "Deftly done, Uri!"
He thinks for a moment. "All I remember of the woman's description of the book was that it had stars in a crescent shape. This one has that."
