(OOC: Sorry for the absence. I have been in the middle of writing student reports and marking exams)
Borax emerges from the water beside his companions and approaches the group surrounding the barrel. As he walks toward the group he spreads his arms wide, showing he is clearly unarmed. "My friends, thank you so much for bringing our barrel to the surface. We can handle loading it onto the ship from here. I even have a silver here for each of you for your troubles."
As Borax speak he watches the reactions of the men to try and ascertain their intentions. If any of them seem interested in the silver he will move toward them, reaching into his pouch to get the money. If they seem more inclined to fight he will lower his hands making a deliberate show of resting his hand on the handle of his warhammer.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
V'rekh will do his best to help Borax convince the others to return the barrel peacefully "as my friend here said, we appreciate your assistance in making sure the current did not drag our barrel away."
(OOC)Also terribly sorry about my absence! I've had a very exhaustive last few weeks with work and family responsibilities.(OOC)
Jarret watches the outcome of this very closely, prepared to jump in and defend himself and his companions (if necessary)... "We should be prepared for this to end poorly..." he whispers to those around him.
Faylen watches the exchange silently, always prepared for a fight, and grips the daggers behind her back a little more tightly. She plasters her biggest grin on her face and nods in agreement with what has been said, not trusting her voice to portray anything but the itch for a fight.
The halfling man approaches, "You see hear folks these brigands here were trying to steal your catch and we were simply securing it for you. We could help you deal with them ... for a price of course." Borax can tell he is clearly lying about what was going on but seems genuine in his deal. The rest of his group seems like they'll go along with it.
The human woman protests, "Now see here! We found this salvage ourselves and we have every right to it, but we'll leave you with the minimum catch as a token of our generosity." Borax can tell that she firmly believes this is true.
"You're right,"Borax says to the woman. "We should have done a better job of looking after our haul. I guess submerging it underwater out of sight of everybody was not enough. Still, getting back on that boat is our highest priority. We would be happy to let you have the extra creatures, if you will take that as payment." Borax reaches into his pouch and counts out enough silver pieces to give one to each member of the woman's group. "And here is a little something for all the confusion."
Turning back to the halfling, Borax stretches, cracking his joints. "Now that that is sorted, thank you for your assistance, but I think we will be headed to the boat now."
Faylen remains close to her companions, still gripping her daggers behind her back in case either of the two groups decide that they'd like to lose limbs instead of the barrel.
The first group happily accepts the deal, removing the extra octopi from your barrel while the rest seem to stand down. They mumble in discontent as they move away from the lot of you. You barrel is left with five specimens as a rowboat arrives on your little patch of rock. The oarsman asks "Did ya catch enough?" in a gravelly voice.

are they on the sand or on the shore? how far away from us?
Getting out of water is considered difficult terrain for being clumsy? you know, just to consider if we arrive there in one round or not...
(OOC: can I retroactively change V'rekh's move)
V'rekh would get out of the water, set the blue box on the ground and start calmly walking towards the eight new people on the island.
(I am assuming you can get onto shore and solid footing without drawing attention to yourselves)
(Yes, that's fine)
With all of you resurfaced V'rekh walks toward the belligerent groups, still not taking immediate notice of him.
Uthred follows V'rekh but he is not as calm, actually he is eager to spit their blood, the only stopping him are the sheer numbers
Faylen subtly draws her daggers, but keeps her hands behind her, following her fellows toward the two groups fighting.

Uthred just approaches at the companions side, silent, grinning, only playing aloof with his weapon
