At the edge of the island, Faylen steals a look back at those with whom she was grouped, noticing two of her companions in the water and two on land holding barrels waiting for the creatures. Deciding that stealing is most definitely her best bet to win this thing, she silently glides into the water, making her way through the shallowest areas separating their island from the next closest.
"Jarrett, Uthred, be ready, men. I may have surprises for you yet," she calls lowly, motioning with a slight nod of her chin to her targets.
She carefully makes her way toward the humans who are stuffing the octopi into their barrels.

V'rekh slowly gets within distance of an unsuspecting octopus and casts his spell. As the bubbles leave his mouth he grasps for his prey and surfaces to take a breath.

He seizes the octopus from the water and begins to float it back to land triumphant.
Borax's more deliberate approach has frightened his quarry to hide within the coral.

The silvery octopus seems the disappear and the crevices in the rock and coral are too small for anyone to stick an arm into. However, the warforged can wait and remembers these creatures like to eat small crabs. Looking down there are many scuttling slowly in the sand.
As Faylen gets close to the human group on the neighboring island, one of them walks to meet her. The approaching woman carries a spear at her side, not hostel but ready to defend herself, it appears she is unarmored for diving like the rest of her group. "Hey there, watcha doin' over here?"
V'rekh keeps going until he reaches the barrel, commanding the magical hand to drop the octopus inside. "I got one!" he says triumphantly to his companions. "These guys are shy, it may be easier for us to go around and scare them towards the shore."
Borax scours the sea floor looking for crabs to try and lure the silvery creatures from their holes. As he does so he spots legs in the shallower water and occasionally an arm reaching down to snatch up a crab. Borax makes his way I’ve Rn and as his head emerges from the water he spots Uthred gathering up some of the crabs.
“They are definitely down there. They just need a little enticing to come out. Gond knows what they want with this fish, but it seems like the job simply needs a little patience.” Borax takes the crabs that Uthred has collected and turns to head back toward the coral.
(A combination of Uthred, Jarrett, and Borax can make checks to catch one or more)
(Someone make a Wisdom(Survival) check to lure them out, another make a Charisma(Animal Handling) check to scare them towards shore, and the last make a Strength(Athletics) check to grab them)
The group swims, or walks, toward to the octopus hiding place about seven feet underwater and prepares to scare up some prey.
Faylen looks up at the woman, noticing the spear, but not overtly showing interest. She climbs up to the land and gives the woman her best smile. "Why, love, I'm glad you asked. I was hoping to speak with you. You see, I am in a bit of a predicament and I'm hopeful that you could help me."
As Faylen speaks, she slips her had around the woman's back, feeling for any concealed weapons or pouches that could come loose easily.
The woman seems confounded by Faylen's straightforward and agreeable disposition. Although she does back off a bit. "Ugh, sure, I guess. Well what's your predicament?" She glances back at her group for a moment as Faylen subtly pats her down.
(I need a Dexterity(Sleight of Hand) and a Wisdom (Perception) check from Faylen)
(I still need a Charisma(Animal Handling) and a Strength(Athletics) from Uthred and Jarrett)

Feeling the dagger tucked into the woman's belt, Faylen palms it, slipping it out of the woman's belt and silently into her own.
"You see, my dear, from my island over there I took notice of you and your friends' great ability in capturing these slippery creatures and was wondering, if I may, how such a feat seemed like child's play to you?"
As Faylen is speaking, she takes stock of the number of octopi this group has in barrels and where the barrels are located on the island.
V'rekh smiles, as much as his reptilian features allow, and congratulates Borax "that's two on the barrel now, I wonder how can we catch more of these faster."
"This is going very slow. I agree, there has to be some faster way to get these beasts." Borax dips his hand into the barrel and runs his finger along the side of one of the creatures as he considers his next move. "This is why I prefer machines,. They are so much more predictable."
Turning around slowly, Borax surveys the area, noticing where the other groups are collecting and trying to find any opportunities for harvesting. Seeing the steep drop, Borax also sees potential. Turning back to V'rekh he says, "You can stay under for quite some time, can't you? What if we were to head down the side of the island(Indicating toward the steep drop) and scout around there. I dare say a few of the others need to resurface regularly. Gond willing, that area will still be untouched."
V'rekh agrees with Borax "I don't move fast in the water, but I don't have any other ideas at the moment, let's dive now and later you can tell me more about this Gond that you so often mention." The tortle walks to the section Borax indicated, recasts his mage hand just in case an octupus is nearby, and dives.

The woman doesn't seem to notice Faylen's theft. "Oh, we got lucky I guess. I didn't know what we were coming here for, but one of my team happened to have a net and says he'd caught fish in reefs with his dad when he was young." While she is talking Faylen is able to peek in the barrel, counting three octopi.
Acrobatics (for octopus): 11
Uthred is able to swim down one of the fleeing cephalopods and grab it, making that number three for the day. He returns to the barrel just in time to see Borax and V'rekh preparing to go down the steep drop into the deep water.
Diving into the deeper ocean water, Borax and V'rekh see several of their silvery prey. The dart into a large cassavas while still out of reach. Once at the cassavas they do not see where the octopi went; what they do find is a pocket of air trapped in the upper part of this submerged cave, and a large metal door seemingly built into the rock. The door is closed, locked, and chained.
While the woman is distracted talking about a companion using a net, Faylen quickly uses the dagger she stole to puncture a hole in the side of the barrel to drain the water, hoping to cause a scene for the others of the group to come running and allowing her to grab one of the octopi in the chaos.
"A net, eh? I don't see any of the other groups using a net. Such ingenuity, indeed."
