Jahren and his carpet vanish and appear in the room next to Roz with a woosh. Roz startles only slightly, glancing out through the bars of the room into the square. Jahren grasps his arm and pulls him onto the carpet hovering just over the floor. Then, with arcane word muttered from his lips, they both appear back up in the air. Feeling terribly exposed, Jahren quickly focuses his magic, muttering a few words and drawing an arcane shape in the air and the two of them vanish along with the carpet. An orc below looks up into the air curiously, glancing around, before looking back to his game of dice.
Like silent wraiths, Roz and Jahren swoop away from the enemy encampment. A few moments later they hear a horn blast behind them. The drow in the trees at the perimeter look around with sudden alertness.

But the invisible, flying duo sweep past unbeknownst to the enemy. Behind them, far back in the ruins, they hear a mighty roar and then they hear the screams of creatures dying.
They swoop down back to the group and the waiting 22nd. As Roz and Jahren appear Sergeant Coon cuts any happy welcome short with a wave of his hand and a serious look. SilverMark casts a spell, looking him up and down, then says, "The battle at Torm's Foot. When an ogre broke through the ranks, who was it that warned me before I got clubbed."
Roz makes a rather unimpressed face, and then sighs heavily, "Lace."
SilverMark nods shrewdly, a grin appearing on his face, "And what were you doin?"
Roz shrugs, "Takin a piss." A laughter floats around the crew. Roz speaks up, "Hey, that was a really long fight, and we didn't go light on the drinkin the night before..."
Sergeant Coon clasps Roz's forearm, "Welcome back soldier." He turns, all business like, as Roz returns to his fellow soldiers. "Doesn't sound like dragon is too pleased we broke 'im out. What's next?"
Everyone suddenly hears the sound of something large crashing through the woods towards you from the direction of the ruins. You figure you have about 30 seconds before it gets here.
Hearing the sound of approach, Chen hefts his hammer and says: We might not all be able to outrun this. Do we stand and fight? If we kill the dragon, many of the orcs may break and flee... He looks to Coon and the others for strategic input, but is also ready to cover their retreat if they so choose.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
FinFin would still have been scouting the Elven Court and watching for activity. Even if the pseudodragon caught sight of him escaping with the prisoner he wouldn’t have been able to follow once they were invisible. As such, FinFin would have slowly returned but been watching for anything possibly following or coming after them... so any chance we have a chance to know what’s coming?
Fianna would look around the area and assess their position. Are we in a clearing? How big? Or is this thick forest? We want to spread out to minimize AOE effectiveness but we have a very short time to pick the battle ground so we need some info?
Chen stands his ground and informs his companions: I can remain here in the open, to draw the dragon's attention and give it a single target. I can probably withstand its assault for longer than most.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?

You're in the dark wood forest. Massive huge thick trees rising far above, with bush and greenery thick between them. It's dark and shadowy. The ground slopes up gradually to the north, with a bit of a curve in the hill to the east as well. It descends sharply for the last few feet into a creek / gully to your right that drops anywhere from 5 to 20 feet to the water.
The squares/area that are part of the creek is considered difficult terrain. Squares are 10 feet. As before, you can see 150 feet through the forest. The white sphere is roughly a visible range. From 50 feet to 100 feet creatures have 1/2 cover. Creatures from 100 - 150 feet have 3/4 cover. Within 50 feet they have no cover unless they're specifically stating they are trying to take cover.
FinFin sees a green dragon crashing through the underbrush, its massive body snaking between massive trees as its crashes towards the group. It seems to know the way exactly towards them somehow.
People can be anywhere on the map they wish to be. Let me know if you'd like to adjust your position. The dragon should be visible within the next 6 seconds. If you're hiding as well, please roll your stealth checks, with a +5 for having a few moments, plus the heavy cover.
Everyone roll initiative and let me know what you're planning to do when you see the dragon (You can hold an action and release when it comes into view if you wish.)
Chen breathes deeply, trying to calm the feeling boiling up in his chest, knowing that this would be the perfect time to lose control of his temper, but trying to exercise discipline even in the face of terrible danger...
Chen crouches down in the undergrowth, waiting. As soon as the dragon gets within 40 feet, he will charge at it with his maul and attack. Attack#1: 22 Damage: 15 bludgeoning Attack#2: 32 Damage: 14 bludgeoning
(Should I see a map? sorry. Also, assuming any notable forces like orcs, etc. were in the main camp where we rescued Roz and not hiding here in the woods, roughly how far off would Jahren think that is? just curious for a rough idea of how long a whole army might take to get to the battle site under that assumption that they are where we'd think they are)

Jahren kneels on his hovering carpet behind the base of a large tree, trying to watch where everyone else goes and stay somewhat near the center so that he can aid others as needed. Wishing he hadn't expended so much magic already today if a dragon fight is to break out, he readies his shield and ensures his instrument hangs within reach if needed.
Looking afar to find Chen before the dragon arrives, the bard calls over "Chen, ever had dragon steaks for dinner? We can do this, my friend!" Bardic Inspiration - D10 to Chen
Jahren takes a second to consider what he did to trigger the dragon here, and how it might be tracking them so precisely. Is it using a spell to locate Roz? (if I may, Arcana?13 )
As a readied action, Jahren pulls out his wand and prepares Magic Missile for when the dragon is within range. 422 force damage
FinFin avoids the dragon with expedience and panache! FinFin is looking to just get behind the creature and then play lookout to see if reinforcements are coming or not.
Fianna will run North as far as she can, trying to maintain some cover (Stealth: 11 - not taking the +5 as she's maximizing movement as well to not be clumped with others.) Once the dragon is within range (90 feet) Fianna will cast Hold Monster at it...

Following Chen's lead, Loane rushes from the bushes when the dragon comes into range. Drawing her rapier, she tries to lunge and jab it into the dragon's leg or side. She tries to keep to its side or back.
Jahren figures that the main ruins are maybe 2 miles from here. But....if the rest of the forces are running to keep up with the dragon, they could be right behind it. (FinFin hears the sound of orcs crashing through the woods in pursuit of the dragon.). Jahren thinks about it. Well....Roz had a bit of a smell on him, like any sweaty captured soldier might, so, could be via smell. Or it could be location magic. Could have also been a familiar watching from above that noticed them, though...why they didn't react more closely he's not sure, so that seems less likely. Otherwise, no magical options pop into his mind.
Fianna, let me know how many 10 foot squares you'd like to be north of your current spot.

The dragon's crashing suddenly stops, just beyond your view back in the woods. You hear a deliciously insidious voice loudly projected through the woods, as the dragon seems to move laterally to your position.
"Well, well, well, aren't we full of surprises. What happened to your visitor then? You were supposed to have a new friend. Was he overly confident? A mistake I'll not repeat today...."
You can hear the distant sounds of approaching orcs moving this way.
FinFin sees the orcs crashing forward to catch up with the dragon, several drow slipping silently through the woods on the flanks.

Chen looks over to Loane and indicates his intention to move forward. Creeping as quickly and quietly as he can, he follows the sound of the dragon's voice.
Stealth: 16 to move closer, using Dash if necessary to get as close as possible (80' total).
(OOC: Better to get this game on before the hordes arrive, right?)
((Seeing the map, Fianna moving about 5 squares east makes more sense than north - she wants to separate from the main group a bit... She'll still be looking to do Hold Monster on the dragon once in sight and range.))
