Fianna expresses her, and the party's, sympathy for the loss of Fireborn's man. She is sincere but brief, thinking it best not to gush over it.
Fianna blinks when Fireborn breaks out the Draconic but she really shouldn't be surprised. But if Molo needs more convincing then she will step up and try to do some persuading...
Molo immediately turns as harmless as a rabbit on hearing the words of Burley.
“200 gold you say? That’s a start. These soldiers left us to go nap outside while we tracked down the last of the smugglers and found these items. We want their day’s wages. I don’t care how much it is, I want them.”
To Molo he nods and adds, "Sure, sure. I will be happy to listen to your concerns about our guards, and we will make it right. But, I will say, it certainly looks like you got the job done. These supplies were seized by pirates from a royal vessel five weeks ago. Thank you again for your help. And, again, please attend the Council meeting four nights from tonight. You will be properly compensated for your good work."
He then turns to Fianna and Kelnan and adds, "Þakka þér, vinir mínir, fyrir vinnu þína við að halda þessum stöðugu smyglurum frá glæpsamlegum umbun sinni."
In perfect Elvish, "Thank you, my friends, for your work in keeping these incessant smugglers from their criminal rewards."
He then bows and turns to climb the stairs back into the tower.
Fianna says some polite and proper words of parting and then does her best to usher her group away. "C'mon Molo! We need to have a chat about how some things are best not said in front of the whole world..." The words were flavored with a mix of annoyance, and amusement.
"We should see about a proper meal, some relaxation... And a drink!"
Depending on what you choose to do next, and whether you want to wait for this meeting, you may have a period of downtime ahead. In addition to anything else you may choose to spend your time doing, here are some other options, which you can pursue together or individually:
• Buying and selling things, or seeking specialty items (the weekly market falls after the meeting, but you may seek other venues) • Carousing with the locals - at the Snapping Line where most of you are staying, or elsewhere in town • Short-term employment: on a fishing boat, with the guard, laboring on the docks (loading and unloading ships), or at the mine (Dain's job may be opening up soon!) • Research? • Exploring the city? • ...?
Also: Welcome to Level 3! You may update your characters.
((I believe we "properly compensated" in 4 days time when we go to the community meeting, or whatever it is called. So no riches for us yet... (and that will just be 20 gold each.) But Fianna did pick up some treasure that I have listed...))
Fianna will distribute the gold she had grabbed up during their adventure between the group, distributing 8 gold pieces to each member of the group. ((She kept some random extras that didn't divide equally amongst the group easily but she doesn't let them in on that.))
Fianna also shows off the golden apple, rose and five golden disks that she recovered. "Do you know a good, reliable place around here we could sell these?" she asks, turning to Dain figuring that as a local he may know...
"Whatever these fetch will also be divided between us," Fianna advises. "So make sure I know where to find you if you want your share. I think we make a pretty good group for doing this kind of crazy thing and so long as we're working as a group I believe we should share in all that is found... Hopefully you all feel the same."
So over the next few days Fianna will:
Explore the city to familiarize herself on best places to do the below items
Also to ask after the bridge that gave her the newbie-jeebies
Summons FinFin, her pseudodragon familair. FinFIn generally sleeps curled around the back of her neck, or crawls into Fianna's backpack when things get more violent.
Attempt to get a quote or two on the worth of her gold items and sell to the highest bidder
Window shop. A lot. Looking in particular for:
Another dagger or two
Leather or studded leather armor
A tin whistle. She just wants to learn :) (Basically a flute, if you're unfamiliar.)
Anything that catches her eye - in other words, keeping an eye out for anything magical or extraordinary.
Dain is going to try out his new pipe. If Kelnan has time and inclination he will let the wizard do his stuff but otherwise he will just do as the mage suggests and smoke it. He's going to help out selling stuff the party has by directing them all to the most reputable pawn shops and merchants in the city. He's got enough money now to check into the inn for a few days until we go to the meeting. So no need to return to the mine.
Otherwise, just relax and wait for this meeting...
(I am assuming you will tell us how much cash we need to take off for living expenses)
A bit surprised to hear proper Elvish in such an unexpected place, particularly since he's mostly read it in old documents and hardly heard it spoken since he was young, Kelnan sputters out an awkward Elvish "You're very welcome!"
Until the meeting, Kelnan will try to learn what his book, stone, and purse are about. He will also try to visit merchants, temples, or anywhere else translations or other scholarly work might be appreciated. Helping the local elves and dwarves function in a mostly human city was always good for some pocket money back home. Might also turn up some interesting stories or turn up some local flavor more palatable than that claw wine.
Oh! Fianna had also found and grabbed a golden skull... Unless there's some reason she think's it may actually start answering her or something, she will also be looking to hawk that for a nice price. It's a very unique item, and she is tempted to keep it... But it's likely worth too much for her to keep just as a moment at this point.
Alas, the reward must wait until the Council meeting, according to Fireborn. You have not been paid, yet. (Fianna is correct.)
Returning to the Snapping Line, you plan your next few days.
Hanna at the Snapping Line is willing to hire Molo for a trial evening. (When you're ready, roll a performance check to see how you do on your first night.) Her rate is 5 sp / night plus tips, and a meal. She has no suggestions on tattoo artists, however. While once very popular, it's an old-fashioned trend now - something faded and fallen which one would commonly pretend not to see on older folks. But maybe in Seaton? Shields, however, are readily available - ask at the Dwarven Anvil on the main street. (Yes, Molo may negate his strength score penalty. When did they do that? Did they balance that change with anything negative?)
Winston's store, where Dain bought his frilly maul, seems like a good bet for Fianna to unload or at least appraise her odd collection of items - and maybe find some, as well. Leather armors can be found at Kester's, where Molo found his very smart purple leather outfit. Daggers at the Dwarven Anvil. (We'll resolve the rest of Fianna's adventures shortly.)
Dain will try out his new pipe in the tavern as you plan your adventures. (More on this soon...)
Everyone should pay your daily lifestyle expenses according to your lifestyle (PHB Chapter 5) except for Dain, who's still living on the Company dime until they cut him off (or he goes back to work.) (Keep track of your inventory and coins, everyone!)
Kelnan will spend some time with his book, stone, and purse; and look for scholarly work. (More on this soon...)
(To be continued. Anything else you want to add? What about Katernin's plans?)
Katernin will see to Lucky's funeral if she still can, and then retreat to her temple to do some serious reflecting about the last 2 days, trying to find some peace in her soul over events she feels guilty of not being able to prevent.
((Click on Currency and on the Botton of the list it shows what Lifestyle you chose and the cost... Fianna happily pays her 1gp for a modest lifestyle for the next 5 days...))
((Just to note, before Fianna sells the skull, rose, disks and apple, she would have Dain appraise the gold value... Just so she would know if they were worth more melted down. It would seem unlikely but would also give her an idea of being cheated or not...))
((Didn't we already arrange for Lucky's funeral? Half Orc gravedigger who directed us to Fireborn? Though that was likely more just burial... If you want to have a service, Fianna would of course attend.))
Dain is happy to appraise any gold items as best he can. He will relax in the inn on the company as long as he can until they realize he's no longer working and pull his support.
Kelnan settles into his modest but pleasant space and between meals and outings, goes into full academic mode, shouting and waving his pocket knife at anyone interrupting his study.

So we have money now? 200 gold divided among us?
Whatever the case, Molo is going to go
- earn some money, playing at the Snapping Line if possible? Maybe working a fishing boat?
- immediately spending that money again on carousing
- getting a tattoo of himself as an enormous dragon across his chest
and if it turns out we’ve actually got money, he’s going looking for a shield.
ps: kobold has been updated to not cause a strength score reduction. Any chance I can take that? 😂 it’s okay if not, my lizard is still very enjoyable
