This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Molo races over to join Lucky in the scrubby dunes at the base of the cliff. Under his scaly touch and a few arcane words, the carpenter's wounds close and heal, leaving only a heavy scar. She regains consciousness, but is dazed and disoriented.

Nothing. His brain is too foggy. He needs rest.
Reed joins them. He and Lucky scan the dead beach grass and the scrub at the base of the cliff, but they see no threats. A gaunt old man in his undergarments stares at you from the back porch of the run-down building nearby.
(The old peg-legged man is in the temple atop the cliff, maybe 75 feet above you. You'd need to climb the hilltop path and look for him in his temple to talk to him. The gaunt old man in his underwear standing on a back porch is a different onlooker. As far as you know he hasn't helped anyone. )
Reed, still keeping his eyes on the surroundings, stows his bow and pulls out his sword. It's ornate, and almost as long as he is. I'm thinking yes...but we need to get outta here first. Help with the wounded, and we'll see about the rest. He'll lead the way up the path once Gretel's gathered up.

Kellen Rivian(Level 12 Lore Bard)- Ghosts of Saltmarsh (cbaer8)
Ruven Gilrel (Level 4 Bladesinger)- The Shattered Obelisk
The party, minus Fianna, plus a relieved and astonished Dinah, a shaken and still bloodied Gretel, and a young man in gray from the Temple of Procan, make their way back up the path to Katernin's shrine. In front of them they see two more men in grey. They push a cart laden with two corpses up the hill, but turn off a side path after passing Winston's Store.
Upon arriving at the Temple of Procan, Molo enters. The young acolyte invites the rest of you in. Dinah and Gretel curtly decline – they continue on to Katernin's building at the top of the hill, where FIanna awaits. (The rest of you may choose which group you'd like to join.)
Molo finds the old man with the peg leg waiting inside. He has a full white beard and wears a simple tunic; he exudes in air suggesting that he is definitely in charge of this temple.
”That was quite helpful of you. A strike well struck. What is your name? Who are you so blessed in skill?” asks Molo.
"So many questions for an old man," he replies. "Come, my little dragon child. Come sit and have some tea with me. My name is Wellgar Brinehanded, priest of the Saltmarsh Temple of Procan."
"I second the appreciation, sir. I've always been a bit jealous of the divine spellcaster. Those that I've spoken with describe a much richer experience than the mechanical arcane technique I am so familiar with.
Do you happen to know what it is you so thoroughly destroyed though?"
Reed and Lucky return to Katernin's shrine with the carpenters. Fianna is already there. (Katernin may still choose.)
Molo and Kelnan sit down with Brinehanded.
You are seated in a small alcove; his acolytes bring you some salty tea. Brinehanded already assumes most or all of you are survivors from the shipwreck. He witnessed some of your morning activities from his perch atop the cliff.
He sits with you and asks your names. He asks about the wreck, and the ship, and the slavers. He has lots and lots of question. He seems genuinely interested in all the small details, and takes enjoyment out of memorizing them, and parroting back things you've said. (Let me know if there are details you want to omit, embellish, color, or refuse.)
To your question about the creature, he explains: "A jackalwere. Probably a hapless juvenile. They usually travel in packs, and stay outside of town, and can transform from beast to man. I don't know what brought that one into town like that. Folks attribute incidents like this to the old alchemist's house that's been stirring up the superstitious, but I wonder if they're more likely from the Forest."
He then launches into a series of long, semi-interesting maritime stories, of ancient wrecks, of the sailors who died of various violent and gruesome means, buried in the nearby graveyard out back. Of the warship, Gnasher, captained by a merciless, young half-dragon whose greed is as strong as a red dragon's. (When she blows the dragon’s horn - a monstrous instrument mounted to the prow of her ship - it roars like a massive dragon.) Of the Pale Prow, an old ship whose faded hull and rat-gnawed sails belie its speed and the ferocity of its crew, a ramshackle warship with an ornate rudder made from bone and wood, and sailed by elven vampires. Pale Prow doesn’t sail under the sun, and its appearance is always preceded by a heavy fog that appears without warning. Brinehanded claims that Pale Prow has never been touched by a shipwright, despite its many injuries. By what means the ship is repaired, none can say.
The young lad, exhausted beyond all his ability to hide, finds a quiet corner of the shrine, rolls into a ball with his hooded cloak wrapped around him and falls into a deep, hopefully replenishing, sleep. His dreams are haunted by visions of a dog-headed man and the bite it took out of a poor carpenter.
Molo is intrigued by all the stories and does his best to remember them, but... with his wits, it’s liable to be mis-remembering them.
”As long as you have tea, I have ears. Now, this forest sounds like it must be a real danger. No one goes to clear the jackalweres out? I figured they must be in the way for shipwrights looking for lumber.”
Katernin continued down the path, only stopping when the party including Dinah and Gretel started up the path she stopped. She looks relieved and like she still might cry. As they return to her shrine, she helps the others get settled before standing there. I'm useless, she thinks to herself as she ensures that Gretel's wounds are fully healed. She finally speaks, mostly to Gretel, "Sorry for not being there to help," she says quietly.
