Fianna will happily buy some studded leather from Kesters - Green if they have it, or can do it. She'll also have a discussion with Kester regarding just what types of exotic skins they are looking for, press for any tups they may have on where best to find such, and inquire if they have any tips, tricks or advice on the best way to skin it once such a creature is felled. "I've never skinned a... well, anything before," she advises. ((Assuming armor is avail and will mark sheet and deduct price...). She will also inquire about a custom made cloak. She is looking for a matching green to her new armor, it needs many a pocket and pouch inside for her to secure a few hidden daggers, miscellaneous spell ingredients and other baubles or such she may pick up along the way. The more pockets and hidden places in it, without spoiling the line of the cloak (one must be fashion conscious!) the better... And most of all, it needs a ouch between the shoulder blades - a place FinFin can crawl into and curl up inside of.
If Molo plays again, Fianna is of course there to encourage and praise him!
Mafera is clearly impressed by Dain's shop talk, and is willing to give him a shot. She gives him a long lists of straightforward smithing jobs that need attention, to get started on, tonight. Not the difficult jobs he was asking for, but solid smithing work. Perhaps she wants to find out if Dain's work is as good as his talk. She is a little hesitant about letting Dwarves come to pray, but as it is on the outside of the building, she is agreeable.
Fianna finds Kester has some studded leather in an aqua color. If she wants a different shade of green, it will take two days and an extra 5 gp (so 50gp, total.) Likewise, the custom cloak will take two days and 10 gp. (As to skins and skinning, she'll pay a generous fee for the intact hide of any beast or monstrosity of challenge rating 3 or higher - creatures like giant crocodiles, giant sharks, basilisks, etc. Harvesting the hide from such a creature requires an intact carcass, an hour of work, and a successful DC 15 Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) or Wisdom (Survival) check to preserve it in top condition for Kester's purposes. On a failed check, the hide does not meet Kester's standards but may still be sold for a lesser price.)
Next up, Kelnan, Molo and Katernin's evening...
Kelnan is preparing to take Krag up on his invitation to see (and help with) Fireborn's library. (Any special research interests tonight?) ...And Molo is (perhaps?) preparing to try again entertaining drunken fishermen (if you're prepared, roll another Performance!)
((The fishermen are obviously easily entertained! (as am I, obviously...)))
Aqua is good enough, and sold on the cloak. Monies deducted... And I forgot, but Fianna would also be looking to see if they're interested in buying her old, normal leather armor. Which I had actually forgotten she had but *shrug*
Kelnan is especially interested in local lore that might hint at some old, unexplored secrets. He is also interested in the activities of angels and demons with a goal of speaking with them someday, but knows enough to steer clear of doing so without more skill and power.
Of course he's also just glad to be in a library and will happily do whatever work is needed, though the organization scheme is probably simply intolerable.
Dain will sell his frilly maul for 5 gold pieces and give them to Molo. Hopefully, he will finish his work in the smithy early enough to watch the end of the kobold's performance and have a few well-deserved ales in the bar. If there are any dwarves around he will tell them that the shrine of Moradin is available to be visited and should they wish they can leave a donation for its upkeep with the smiths. He will also tout for any commissions he can earn.
Fianna would also be looking to see if they're interested in buying her old, normal leather armor.
Kester offers 5 gp for the old leather armor.
The sun sets, and a chill descends upon the city. Dain begins his shift at the forge - Mafera gives Dain a quick orientation and leaves. Her son, who has extensive scarring on his throat from some old injury and cannot speak, watches as Dain gets started, until he seems assured that Dain won't burn the place down or steal their wares. He eventually leaves as well, leaving Dain to his work. (Roll an Intelligence check with +2 for tool proficiency, to see how you make out with their long list of chores - sharpening blades, forging parts, repairing armor, etc.)
Kelnan meets up with Krag, and spends the evening in Fireborn's personal library. Tucked at the edge of town and overlooking the sea, Fireborn's home is also home to the largest library in town; during his days of military service, Krag tells him, he made a hobby of collecting rare books. There's a lot of history here - of Saltmarsh and the region. It's well organized and Krag is evidently a very capable archivist. Fireborn makes a brief appearance - long enough for a brief, friendly chat with Kelnan. Then Krag puts Kelnan to work shelving loose books and transcribing an old text. But Krag allows Kelnan to browse the shelves, as well. You may roll an Investigation check to see how he makes out finding anything of note on his topics of interest: of old secrets, and of the activities of angels and demons.
They both catch the end of Molo's outstanding performance at the tavern. Molo makes 11 sp in tips from the rowdy fishermen, on top of his 5 sp salary. He is becoming a bit a local spectacle, evidently, as word travels and the tavern begins to fill up with neighborhood curiosity-seekers. No dwarves, however - Dain doesn't feel especially welcome here. Evidently the local dwarves typically drink elsewhere. The clientele here is mostly human fishermen and longshoremen, with a few halfling farmers among them. Musically-inclined kobolds, however, are a particularly novel sight.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Five? But it's hardly worn at all! It's well made, barely broken in, and not scraped up or punctured at all. Surely it's worth at least 7 gold and a couple silver?" Fianna would say, laying on the charm and persuasion. "And what with me being such a good, and likely repeat customer...." Persuasion12

"Okay. Sure," says Kester, charmed by Fianna's pitch. "Seven. But find me a good hide sometime. Something with good thick skin. Scales, maybe."
(After we resolve the rest of this evening, depending on the direction of where things lead, we may speed up the clock a bit and summarize the next three days. If there is any other business you have before the Council Meeting, speak soon!)
((7 gold added... though I wish I would have saved the first natural 20 I rolled on this site for something a bit more worthwhile :) Still, 2 gold is 2 gold!))
Fianna has no plans before the meeting except to watch Molo perform whenever he does, to play with FinFin and get acquainted with the new familiar, to get familiar with the town and the denizens, to listen for any good rumors, gossip and the like... Particularly about that bridge... and to be a bit of a bum.
The next few days pass without incident. The weather is cold, dreary, wet, and miserable.
Mafera is quite satisfied with Dain's craftsmanship, and grateful for his help on her backlog of work. She's also willing to provide whatever raw materials Dain needs, within reason, to craft his own items. (If you choose, after three evenings, you may craft one or more items with a total market value not exceeding 15 gp.)
Molo continues to attract a crowd at the Snapping Line, and manages (barely) to avoid any physical fights. He makes an additional 2 gp and 4 sp from his pay. He also makes a friend: Hanna, the tavernkeeper, begins to confide in Molo some of the local secrets and gossip. Nothing particularly helpful yet, but she may make a very useful contact yet.
Kelnan spends his evenings with Krag in Fireborn's library. (He presumably turns down a further offer to assist in digging graves during the day.) Krag is an expert in local history, and he has no shortage of semi-interesting tales about notorious fish and monstrous pirates. He also pays you (with Fireborn's allowance) 3 gp for your help over three nights of work. You find a particularly interesting book about the vast forest known as the Dreadwood. One of the Dreadwood’s most powerful denizens, you learn, is a truly ancient night hag named Granny Nightshade, who dwells in the deepest depths of the forest. She commands magic as well as a mighty wizard does, you read, and has struck bargains with several dukes of the Nine Hells. Her twisted fortress, Castle Spiral, stands at the nexus point between the Shadowfell and Oerth, and from its gates emerge skeletons, zombies, shadows, and other horrors to threaten the land. His Detect Magic fails to find anything arcane in Fireborn's home.
Katernin learns from her acolytes that two fishing crews have recently gone missing. The locals are demanding that Keoland dispatch a squadron of ships to track down the slavers from the Sea Princes who surely kidnapped them.
Fianna, at Kelnan's suggestion, catches up with Krag to ask him about that bridge. Sharkfin Bridge, she learns, predates the village. An ancient curse placed upon it long before Keoland rose to existence causes Elves and fey folk feel vaguely nauseated when they cross the bridge. (Did you also order that custom-made cloak? You may acquire that as well, at the cost of 10 gp.)
Molo, Fianna, Kelnan, and now that you have formally parted ways with the mine, Dain: Please subtract three days worth of your Lifestyle Expenses. (Katernin is exempt.)
Finally, Day 8 has arrived. (It's also Weekly Market day, if you have any additional purchases to make before the meeting.)
The Council Meeting is scheduled at sunset, just as the market is shutting down. (More on the meeting, shortly.)
((Fianna did indeed order the custom cloak and deduct the gold... Also did daily gold for lifestyle when you told us how long til council meeting.))
Fianna will of course spend much time perusing Market Day and the wares on sale there. It's free entertainment if nothing else. She's not looking for anything in particular, but is keeping an eye out for anything eye catching or hidden gems overlooked by others. Though truth be told, she doubts she could afford anything she found that was worth buying... though getting a job wasn't really her thing.
But if she was going to stay here a while... hmmmmm....
