"Kill! Kill!" shouts Seth, wildly swinging his sword over is head in large arcs, his feathered plume bobbing wildly. "The City Guard is triumphant!"
Fianna slow claps the guards. "You. Were. Incredible." She says it in a slow monotone voice that converts her awe of their skill and martial prowess.
"Alright people, let's be more on our toes here so more attackers don't jump out behind us. Let's cover the doors and check for hidden passages. Last time the bowmen come out of nowhere on the other end of the room and they were looking weirdly to that southwest corner..." Fianna suggests, taking her own advice and keeping her head on a swivel while going to the southwest corner to check it out.

Fianna investigates the southwest corner with Molo's help. Investgation: 9
There are some empty shelves there.
Meanwhile, Dain finds nothing of value on the two dead goons other than poor-quality gear and a pair of copper coins. In the ashen remains of the tall man, you find an undamaged smoking pipe - a long, delicate wooden pipe with a stone bowl – as well as a fire-damaged set of gaming dice.
The door in the east end of the room is ajar – not the barred door with the sign, but rather the one from which the hobgoblin appeared. It is lit inside.
Not finding anything of interest Fianna will look to the guards and gesture to the door the goblinoid came through. "I believe you wanted to go first?"
Seth nods and smiles brightly. "Oh, I shall," he declares.
He kicks open the half-open door with his sword still drawn.
Unlike the barracks, this small room holds comfortable furnishings and appears to be well cared for. A comfortable-looking bed in the northwest corner has a wooden locker at its foot. A small wooden table stands against the east wall, with a padded leather chair beside it. On the table, a brass three-branch candlestick with three burning candles provides the room with bright light. The candles, though not fresh, are far from spent. Under the table is a small wooden box and an unlit bullseye lantern with a movable shutter over the lens. On a shelf above the table sit three books. In the northeast corner is a closed wooden wardrobe.
Seth thwacks the bed with his sword, and slashes at an invisible enemy. He kicks open the locker at the foot of the bed, revealing a lot of dirty clothes. He pokes around in the clothes with the tip of his sword, and finding nothing, exits the room. "I think we're done here."
The three books, which look to Molo like they might have significant value to the right buyer, consist of an illustrated volume of bawdy poetry; a naval almanac listing tide times for the area of coast around Saltmarsh; and a treatise concerning the demigod Iuz and its minions.
Katernin examines the small wooden box under the table. It is unlocked, and holds twelve candles, flint and steel, and a piece of parchment with some notes on it.
Fianna gives the empty shelves in the southwest corner one last look, looking behind it, on top it, etc. They seemed to look this way and if so there had to be a reason. But if still finding nothing, she will go to the south east corner and wait for the guards to be ready to go through the doors there.
Fianna and Molo have done their best to examine the southwest corner. While the empty shelves look a little out of place here, they can't find anything unusual about this corner of the room. (e.g. They can't roll investigation a second time. But others may!)
The southeast corner contains the barred door which has not yet been opened. A wooden bar is held in brackets across the frame. The word “DANGER” is scrawled on the door in the Common tongue using chalk. On closer examination Fianna notices that the bar is damaged and bent, as if something has tried to push the door open from the other side.
Butter lays down on one of the bunks. Seth struts around, full of adrenalin.
Molo examines the goons' weapons, including a scimitar, a light crossbow, a dagger, two longbows, a shortsword, a longsword, and a shield. They are all cheap, shoddy work; albeit serviceable. If Molo or the others need to use any, they are usable (and equipable.) But they have no resale value.
"My goodness, do you see the stains on that cot?? Disgusting! Anyway, there's a wide open door here that you big brave men should barge through," Fianna says, lifting the bar out of the brackets.

"Oh you bet we're going in there," Seth replies, swinging his longsword around in the air again, narrowly missing Molo. "Butter! Farley! Let's go!"
Butter looks at the door from his newfound cot, and deadpans, "Oh, gods no." He rolls over.
Farley stands still and shakes his head nervously, "Naw, naw."
A minor row breaks out between Seth and his men.
