Shipwrecked in Saltmarsh

Fianna and Kelnan each send blasting arcane rays at Dain's little attackers, neatly shearing off almost all of the little fanged crawlers.

But not quite every one. A few remaining bugs sink their teeth into Dain's exposed parts.

Worse, another swarm of spiders boils up from the floorboards. This one infests Fianna before she can react.

Everyone may act, starting with Katernin and Molo.

Molo makes an imitation of Dain’s Dwarvish gruff voice. 
“Get off him, ya wee bed bugs!” 
casting vicious mockery DC 14 Wis save for 4 psychic damage and disadvantage on its next attack

Although the bugs don't understand the words, they certainly understand the pain caused by their underlying magic.

 Dain's remaining pests drop off, quite dead. One swarm down.

But Fianna is covered in the horrid little toothy creatures.

Everyone but Molo may act, starting with Katernin and Fianna.

Dain tries to help to smash a few of the spiders as they scuttle about near Fianna.

Power Attack, Recklessly: 18 Damage: 19

OOC: About to go away for a week so adding my attack now even if it's a bit premature.   Dain now grants Advantage to attacks till the start of his next turn.

     “Ewww!” Fianna shouts and Misty Step ‘a away from the swarm (back out through door, but close enough that she can still see in…)

     Once away from the swarm she will send an Eldritch Blast at them!

Kelnan

"Ugly little things..." Kelnan raises his staff and gathers a fiery Chromatic Orb launching it at the spiders and briefly illuminating the room.

Attack: 14 Fire Damage: 10

FIanna neatly sidesteps her attackers, and emerges completely clean at the back of the party. The spiders fall to the floor looking for new prey. Fianna's blast flies wild. 

Kelnan launches his own fiery sphere, burning nearly half of the swarm on the deck.

Dain steps up and crushes even more with his maul. Only a few remain, but they continue to attack viciously.

Katernin is up next!

Katernin pulls a divine, flame-like radiance from above. Radiant damage on hit: 4

The tiny spiders scatter in a panic. DC 14 Dex save: 9

 But they cannot escape fast enough, and are incinerated in her holy blast.

Combat is over. All is quiet again.

Sheets of webbing fill this room, making it hard to see far. A dark shape is on the floor to port; junk and furniture can be seen forward and starboard.
The bodies of a giant spider and a bipedal insectoid lay on the floor, together with dozens of crushed and incinerated toothy spiders.

Molo goes to examine the dark shape.

Slipping past the body of the huge spider and through sheets of thick, but easily-removed webbing, Molo finds that the dark shape is simply a staircase down to a lower deck.

All remains quiet, except for the creaking of the old, listing ship and the sound of the swells slapping against the hull.

Katernin follows Molo. "Wish me to lead?"

Molo gets his hackles up. “Are you calling me a coward?? No. I can lead just fine.” And Molo leads the way down the steps, his eyes well suited to the dark.

Molo and Katernin begin their way down the stairs onto the deck below.  (Are others following? In what order? Any further business in the web-filled cabin above?)

A small, dark, empty hallway lay at the bottom of the stairs. An open door leads aft into another webby room. Some debris lay scattered along the floor. Unlike the cabin you left, and the cabin ahead, the stairs and this small hallway are mostly clear of webbing.

     Fianna will make a quick, cursory look through the junk furniture looking for the box our employer wants, ((Was it a blue box?)) as well as just ensuring nothing else is lurking in it.  She'll then try to rig something up against the door.  To block it if possible, but at least as an early warning alarm - Something that would fall and clatter and make noise if the door was opened from the other side...  Always good to have warning if something is sneaking up behind you.  Then she will follow the others below deck.

Fianna finds a table and four chairs in the webby shadows. The table is still covered with charts and maps. She drags some of the weathered, worthless furniture in front of the door to make a loud warning system. She finds nothing else of note in the room.

We'll presume Dain follows her down. Does Kelnan take up the rear?

"I was just..." Katernin trails off, but nods, "alright then, lead on."
