"The hero sought to save the world.
"If I keep trying, I'll be able to win," the hero thought.
But the harder the hero fought, the further the world seemed to tumble away.
Drowning in doubt, the hero could not even save themselves.
Hero, if you still believe in a brighter future, hold in your heart a thorn that can pierce all doubt."
After the third failed attempt, Yosben finally reaches the other side, then sighs with relief, collapsing on the floor. "I made it." He points out bluntly.
You all continue through the hallway, the gently sloping dirt passage crumbling under your footsteps. Eventually, all of your winding and twisting comes to an end as you find yourselves in front of two double stone doors, their rough heavy exterior making you unsure what exactly lies beyond. Adjacent to them, an iron lever stands against the rough-hewn wall. As your eyes adjust to the flickering flames of this segment of hallway, Craben passively notices that right next to the lever is a tiny little switch (like a light switch). After noticing it, something about the lever seems off. He is unsure why there would be both a lever and a small switch.
As the switch is flipped and then the lever is pulled (both with mage hand) the door suddenly spills open, revealing a final room. The opposite end of this corridor takes a sharp ramp upward toward a wide set of wooden steps. Inside of this chamber a woman is rifling through a desk while several other associates assist her. Suddenly as the door opens she stares at you, clutching a wand in her tanned brown arms she shouts. "Intruders! Kill them all!" Then rushing forwards you find yourselves in combat!
With her allies either unconscious or slain, the mage raises her hands up into the air with a frightened expression. "Look, if I give you information, and my possessions, you swear you shall let me go?"
The mage gulps, and as she slowly regains her confidence, she begins speaking. Her once confident and certain demeanor shattered like a thousand tiny pieces of glass. "I was asked to transport a trinket. Something that's apparently valuable to the Ytepka society - rumored to be connected to this... 'death curse' - the trinket was from a merchant ship coming in through Tiryki Anchorage by order of my employer: Nahurali. I was supposed to get to it before the Ytepka society could and await further instructions, which I never received. Before you ask, I have no idea who Nahurali is. I have never met him in person, he's only contacted me. Some days I'll just find a letter of instructions and payment. As for this trinket, well, it's brought me closer to death than I want so here, you have it." She pulls her necklace off of her neck and hurls it towards Craben who (I assume) catches it. "You can have the blasted thing now. It's brought me nothing but pain and death. All I know is that I was supposed to keep it from the Ytepka society since they were looking for it as a connection to the Death Curse, and once they would get their goody-two-shoes hands on it, my employer would never see it. But screw him, it's not like I even really knew who he was. Is that good enough?" She then stares at you with pleading eyes.
She looks confused for a moment but then realization spreads like disease upon her face. "Oh... yes... you're um, foreigners aren't you. Well the Ytepka society is a secret group who try to shut down criminal enterprises like..." she then looks around the chamber. "Well, this one. As for the letters, just transaction notes, that's all. Please, can I leave?!" Also as Craben catches the trinket he sees that it is a small little piece of metal in the form of a snake's head.
After letting the mage go she scampers off, never to be seen again. As you then look around the room before you, you see that most of it is in shambles. Papers are scattered around the floor like rubbish and a desk and a crate seem to be the only things untouched by the chaos the room is in. Meanwhile, a door leads out to the surface (presumably). What do you do?
"It's locked, Craben. I don't have my bone-pickers... ha! Bone pickers!" Yosben begins laughing. "Sorry, heh, that was a good one. Should we break it? Or would that maybe destroy what's inside?"
“I knew that. I was hoping you’d be able to unlock it but it seems like you didn’t bring your lockpicks. Gwen can you to see if any of these guys have some lockpicks on them. Otherwise I think we should just break the desk to get whatever’s inside. It might be something important and I doubt we’ll have time to come back here or that it would even still be here.”
Craben places the key inside of the lock and then twists it open letting the drawer slide out. Inside, everything is empty with the exception of a single pouch.

"That sounds fair; so get talking."
Craben will have a Sacred Flame readied in case the mage tries to escape or tries to cast a spell.

"Ytepka society? Should I know who they are?" Yosben inquires.
"What about those letters there?"
Craben says while pointing at the papers he heard her grab.

"Gwen you should probably tie up those that are asleep in case they wake up. I'll check the desk and then I think we're done here."
Will Investigate the Desk for any traps before going opening up any drawers and looking for anything that might be useful.

"Yosben. I need your help with this desk."
Coming over to the desk, Yosben says, "Is there anything you didn't notice?" Inspecting the desk, though not noticing that he checked already.
Investigation 20
Yosben points out to Craben that the desk is locked, not realizing that Craben already noticed this.
