As he opens up the soft velvet pouch a singular malachite gem spills out, but as he looks further he also notices a potion with a viscous pink substance inside, it looks similar to the one that he currently carries.
"Looks like a gem and another potion of healing. I now have 2 on me if we need them in the future. Why don't we try and open up that crate there too? Let's see what else we can find."
Craben will pocket the gem and potion and will gesture for Yosben or Gwen to check the crate.
The crate indeed can be opened, and as he does so the rough wooden top pops open to reveal... a small brightly colored egg. It's much larger than the egg of a chicken, but still maybe only the size of Yosben's head. The egg rests softly upon a bed of jungle ferns.
Meanwhile, Craben ruffles through the scattering of documents hurled across the room in Sanuya's hurry to escape. After looking over several more ledgers, he finds that the smuggling ring appears to be nothing more than a standard smuggling ring, albeit it was suffering from fewer and fewer deals over the past couple of months. This, however, stopped after a singular deal came through that offered one thousand gold for the safe transportation of a singular small item into the city. This seems to be the "Nahurali" that Sanuya spoke of. As Craben sees it more and more, however, something seems strange, like a little note in the back of his mind... nevertheless, he cannot recall exactly what it is. Either way, as he looks through the transactions it seems rather clear that Sanuya kept the details of the dealings to herself, simply noting down the size, the cost, the money offered, and some sort of code name for the client.
"Hey guys! I haven't seen a stone quite like this before! So unnaturally smooth and shiny..." Gwen's voice trails off as Craben points out the fact that the rock is actually an egg, "Oh..." she carefully slips the egg inside one of the pouches on her belt, stuffing cloth inside to keep it from breaking.
Craben will gather up all the papers he’s been investigating.
“I don’t think there is any more clues around here. Shall we continue upstairs. Also Gwen be carefully with that egg. I have an idea of what it might be but I don’t have any evidence to back it up.”
You return to a splendid night in Kaya's House of Repose. The plush pillows sport dazzling illustrations of the deep jungle that lies just outside of Port Nyanzaru's walls. As you rest in the bustling port city that never sleeps you can't help but ponder over everything that has occurred. What is the strange amulet? Why did someone want it? Who or what is a "Nahurali?" Sadly Soggy Wren does not show up that night. Leaving you to try and piece together a one-hundred piece puzzle with but a single middle piece. What tomorrow brings you do not know... but they are sure to be full of mystery, and hopefully, information.
You all awake to the sweet sound of birds chirping right outside your window. As the sun gleams in from the glass doorway leading out to a luscious balcony you slowly get up and go over what you have to do next. However right as you're thinking that, a trumpet erupts from outside. A virbantly dressed herald stands right outside the doorway and shouts loudly, his voice ringing like a gong in your ears.
"HEAR YE, HEAR YE, IT IS PRINCESS KWAYOTHE'S DAY OF BIRTH, AND THUS THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN AT NOONTIME IN THE COLOSSEUM. THE MISTRESS WISHES YOU COMMONERS THE BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR ACTIVITIES."
The crier then charges off somewhere else to repeat his cry in another part of the walled city. The day is anew, and so what do you do?
When Craben awakes he makes sure to pray and change out his spells remembering that they must go into the collesium today and that no Damaging Spells are aloud. When done he will remind Yosben of this rule as well.
“Remember we must be at the colosseum before Noon today; we are participating for Po. If we don’t waste time we might be able to see Klevin and tell him about the smuggling operation that we busted.”
“All right. You go get Gwen and see if she is ready. I’ll meet you two downstairs for some breakfast. I’m going to try and figure out what kind of magic is in this weird snake head thing.”
Once Yosben leaves Craben will spend 10 Minutes to Ritually cast Detect Magic and focus in on the figure they got yesterday.
Yosben goes to fetch Gwen, knocking on her door, saying "Craben and I are waiting for you for breakfast." Then stands by the door, waiting for her to come out. When she does, he says "Don't forget, coliseum before noon!"
Gwen rubs her eyes drearily, after a short night of sleep, trying to catch as much as she could, hears nothing Yosben said but "breakfast". She gets up and begins to get dressed, "I'll be there in a moment...", she says sleepily. Once she gets her clothes on, she quickly brushes her messy hair and goes to meet up with the other two for breakfast.
As you all enjoy a scrumptious breakfast of poached velociraptor egg on rye with dancing monkey garnish you step back outside to the rainswept city of Port Nyanzaru. Gwen travels off towards the Colosseum to prepare for the days festivities. Meanwhile, the other two members of the unnamed group of adventurers head towards the Grand Souk, to speak to their contact: Klevin Van Sheran. While one of these groups has to shove and push her way through the enormous crowd that has placed itself smack dab in the center of the city, the other group simply marvels at the music that has erupted from all nooks and crannies of Port Nyanzaru's already vibrant atmosphere.
Eventually the half-elf and the gnome make their way to the Grand Souk and enter the bright and colorful Weave of Life store, whose enthusiastic owner immediately greets them. "Welcome again, brave heroes! Seeing that you are in one piece, I suspect that your operation went smoothly." He pauses as he stares at Craben for a moment. "Hmmm... good sir, I'm sorry but I couldn't help noticing..." He immediately grabs a standard Chultan garment, albeit with a bright red interior and orange cufflinks. "These would go pragtig with your eyes. That is, as you say, splendidly." After opening up a possible business deal, he continues. "So, is there anything you discovered? I want to make sure this operation is crushed, and well, several well-to-do's also desire such things, this smuggling ring was really putting a dent in their pockets."
"Uh... yes. Well, we got several pieces of information. The ring seemed to be a little on the down lately but received a high price, 1000 gold pieces, from an individual known as Nahurali to delieve this." Craben will show him the snakehead. "It's not magical but obviously very important for 1000 gold pieces being put on it; they also mentioned something about the Ytpeka Society potential wanting it because it may have some connection to this death curse going around. Anyways, thats what we found and we busted the individuals doing it; they probably won't be a problem anymore. However, I am concerned that Nahurali will come looking for this."
Craben explains to Klevin; feeling a little bit like a detective.
After progressing past the dreaded river and the humongous frogs, you come across a makeshift path made from grey, muddy dirt and dead foliage. It cuts through a cluster of trees covered in thorny brambles. A fin-headed humanoid lies dead on the side of the path, it looks rather similar to the creatures that you saw Screaming Wind defeat. You see two figures tangled in the brambles. On the left is a tabaxi, who lies completely motionless. Next to him, an elven woman reaches out toward you and moans out, “Help me…”
“Quick get these two out of the branches I’ll assess their wounds.” Craben will carefully pull the elven women down before assessing and, possibly treating, her wounds.
As you bring the elven woman down you see that she has been scratched and several humongous needles are jutting out of several profusely bleeding wounds. Immediately as you're pulling her down she speaks. "Please... save me. I'm f-from Malar's Throat. The Pterafolk... they took me and they're using me as some kind of... of-offering. But they're under someone else's cont- AHHHHHH!" No sooner do those words escape her lips when the vines of the jungle themselves reach out and pull the elven woman deeper into the forest, her screams trailing far off into the distance.
And suddenly, the entire jungle seems alive, as while Yosben looks awestruck and frightened by the terrifying visage before him Craben and Gwen actually manage to notice several creatures, humanoid, at least at first glance, until you realize that they're made entirely out of bark, and terrible needles cover their entire body... as they stand, poised to strike!
Craben will open up the pouch to see what is inside.

Just then Gwen hears a muffled laugh coming from Yosben, who is currently covering his mouth, trying not to let a laugh escape.
Craben will gather up all the papers he’s been investigating.
