Po cocks his head to the side as he looks over Yosben, causing for even more of his seemingly mutilated skin to be shown. "Spell damage is not allowed, Yosben. However, sadly the rules of this race only allow for the riders to do certain things. Those actions shall be announced before the event." Some of the servants who were fanning him begin to massage his hands instead.
"Okay, we go and compete in these events; representing you I assume. Win. Get you this Eye of the Oracle and then you give us some information to help us. Sounds fair. How many of us are participating in the Dinosaur Race and how many are in the combat competition?
The scar-ridden Chultan nods, following along to Craben's question. "Currently there are three other groups signed up. Winning the Allosaurus race shall result in your group - the Bladefangs - being in the top two. Then the true winner shall be decided by the combat competition."
"Thanks for that information. We must be off now we have some more business to take care of before night settles. We'll see you tomorrow after our victory."
When we leave Craben will turn to the others and say
"All that's left is the guides. Let's go see what that's going to cost us."
Yosben lets out a small snort of amusement, smiling. "This does seem like the kind of city where nothing is free. Well except for... never mind" he says, trying to refrain from the long list of things here that are free.
The man nods and shoos you away before returning (with the help of his retinue) to his original position on the palm fronds, enjoying his splendor and luxury. However, right as you're about to head out he cries out. "Oh... One more thing. You should register under the name of Tarenbiril. Ta-ta for now dearies..." So... where to next?
Po looks pleasantly surprised, but not unsettled by the other question as he speaks again. "Why dearie your competition shall start at noontime tomorrow. As for Tarenbiril... nobody that you need to know about."
“I’ll tell you later Gwen. For now let’s go find out about guides into the jungle and then prepare. It sounds like we have a busy night followed by a busy day. Thanks again for everything.”
After asking around for directions, Yosben eventually finds and subsequently pays (with Gwen's money) a local who directs them to "Jobal's villa." She informs you that to get there you must pass back towards the Temple of Gond, turn left, and then another left as you pass by more villas. Then when you reach the temple of Savras, Jobal's villa should be on your right.
You follow the Chultan's directions and pass under the strange arch. As you continue through the bustling city you find that now it has stopped raining again, but you are quite sure that it will be back soon. As you press past the crowd you find yourselves walking past the box-shaped temple with the beautiful fountain and its wondrous shapes, the docks district where you see the half-gold-dragon harbormaster observe ships loading and unloading on the dock, and eventually you walk up the steps to the higher level.
If the Merchant Ward before was not decadent, as soon as you reach the top of the steps you feel as if you are woefully out of place (except for Gwen, whose fine scarf attracts some eyes). You pass by mansion after mansion with each one being more beatiful than the last. Eventually, as you get caught up in the splendor and luxury of this area you find yourselves standing in front of a grand old building (One of the oldest (and grandest) in the city, you would think). The tilted roof of its great dome resembles an unblinking eye staring skyward (everyone please make an Intelligence [religion] group check).
Your attention is suddenly drawn by several beautiful villas right here in this district. Each of them is roughly on par with the ones that I've noted before (with 5's). The one that is currently in front of you looks like so.
"This should be it. Let's find someone who can help us. We wouldn't want to offend anyone here with power and by the looks of this guys wealth he has power."
Craben will look around for a guard or servant who can help them.
Craben notices two guards standing in front of the doors to the great villa. Each one has muscles as large as Yosben's head and wields those strange spear things that you saw before. They stand resolute, taking in the surroundings and watching all who would seek to enter the villa (which includes you all at this point).
Gwen stays behind Craben, letting him do the talking. As they approach the guards, Gwen folds her arms and attempts to look imposing and tough, then thinks to herself that it may not slide well with the guards, and then assumes a friendly and inviting pose.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"The hero sought to save the world.
"If I keep trying, I'll be able to win," the hero thought.
But the harder the hero fought, the further the world seemed to tumble away.
Drowning in doubt, the hero could not even save themselves.
Hero, if you still believe in a brighter future, hold in your heart a thorn that can pierce all doubt."
Craben approaches the guards and says with a smile on his face
“Hello, my name Craben. These are my friends Yosben and Gwen. We’re adventures not from around here and we were told that this is the place to go to inquire about guides into the jungle. Is that correct?”
The two burly guards look the strange trio of humanoids over. They were ordered to allow in brave adventurers who looked like they had some kind of coin to spend, and this half-elf does indeed look like an adventurer, and by the look of that scarf on the dwarf they probably have some kind of coin to spend. Therefore they grunt and press a button. From above a slot drops and a bit of water falls, creating a symphony of ringing bells as the water slams into each one. This leads to the sound of feet from inside as the illustrious doors open to reveal an incredibly handsome chultan dressed immaculately. As he sees the lot of you he rushes out and shakes all of your hands. "Why hello there! I am Aazon. Jobal's personal steward. How may I be of service to you?" The chultan procceeds to put on a beaming smile of welcome.
Yosben feels a bit more comfortable meeting with smaller than head sized muscles, but to have this nice of a villa, he must have a brain as big as his head...
Seizing the initiative, he says "Greetings. I am Yosben, and this is Gwen and Craben" He motions to the others, "and we come looking for guides."
The extravagantly adorned Aazaon nods. "Why that's just splendid! Splendid indeed! We have several guides to show to you, I'm sure that one shall be helpful for you!" He then nods to the guards and heads down towards all of you. "So, what do you say? Shall we take the... guided tour of guides?" he chuckles at his little joke.
Po cocks his head to the side as he looks over Yosben, causing for even more of his seemingly mutilated skin to be shown. "Spell damage is not allowed, Yosben. "Tarenbiril, who's Tarenbirl? Also, sorry if you answered this already, but... When does this competition start?"
After her question is answered, Gwen just follows the other two around, eager for some action.
