Khalani places a restraining hand on Qatya's arm. "A moment, please, or rather 10 of them. Let me divine what my goddess says about opening this coffin." Not waiting for a reply, Khalani drops to the ground and says, "O Divine One, please take this meager offering and advise me on what we can expect open opening this vessel of earthly remains."
With a sigh, Khalani opens his eyes and stands. After a moment he relates the information from the goddess. “On the one had we should leave a ׳dangerous being of great darkness’ alone. On the other, it’s blocking our goal. My suggestion is we find a place to rest and prepare for the fight. This could be a vampire or a lich...it’s a tough thing. Maybe we could prepare some simple traps, like oil to drop on it when it comes out, then light it on fire.”
Caal nods in agreement, “If your God gives this advice, then we should definitely heed it. And since the evil has yet to spring out, we could be safe in assuming our safety outside this room, and trap the coffin as you say? Though remember our goal is artifact retrieval, let’s not make everything explode...”
Khalani nods but says, "I do not think it is a good idea if we rest here, in this room. For all we know the...resident...of that coffin might emerge while have of us are sleeping. Perhaps we should go back down the hall to the previous room."
"I think it'd be a good idea if we rest long enough to recover our health and expended magical energies. We've all taken hurts, some not insignificant I think. I for one, have used serious magical resources," Khalani says.
"If we do rest, I can heal some as well. Being in the back, I haven't used many of my blessings in our confrontations. Besides, there were so many when we first came down." Maelgwyn says.
Walking back to the edge of the mud-larva chamber, Caal stares off into the room. "We can probably safely say no-one will be chasing us from this side..." the Dragonborn says to no one in particular as the others gather inside the other room, before turning and head in himself, "... so we only really need to make sure nothing comes out of there," Caal says as he points back to the room with the coffin.
Khalani shrugs, "I'll do it." and settles himself into an uncomfortable position that allows him to watch the door and the way across the chasm. No sense in taking chances.
As Khalani packs up his sleeping gear, he says "I am ready for the confrontation with the dark creature and have prepared several defensive spells to aid us."

Your god responds, “Inside this coffin is a dangerous being of great darkness that blocks you of your goal.”

Mobile~ Qatya nods along as the two discuss resting and readying for the fight.
Kraven chirps up, "Rest good, stand watch."

“Indeed...”
Caal leaves the room and heads back the way they came, looking for somewhere to rest.
(ooc: we looking for a short or long rest?)
(I'm fine with either)

"Good for any rest." Kraven chimes in.
(ooc: hey all I'm going to be mostly unavailable for a little over a week.)
ooc: Let's do a long rest.

Ooc: agreed long rest

"Any takers on first watch...?" he grins.

Qatya unrolls her bedroll and, using her pack as a pillow, snuggles in with her maul and is asleep in mere moments.
The long rest goes well, with no complications during the sleep.
As Khalani packs up his sleeping gear, he says "I am ready for the confrontation with the dark creature and have prepared several defensive spells to aid us."
