As Khalani packs up his sleeping gear, he says "I am ready for the confrontation with the dark creature and have prepared several defensive spells to aid us."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As they get ready for the coming confrontation, Khalani reexamines his ideas. "I have an idea. If the coffin is less than 10 feet long, I will cast a Magic Circle, set for undead, around it. If it's longer, I'll cast the Circle around me and one other. It'll last an hour and if the thing inside the coffin is a vampire or any other undead, it won't be able to pass the circle except by magic. It'll find attacking through the Circle harder and anyone on the other side of the Circle from it can't be charmed or possessed. The main problem is that the cylinder is only 20 feet tall so if the ceiling is higher than that, and the creature flies, this could be a problem. I will also cast designed to protect from evil on one person, our best fighter I think. It will convey similar protections as the Circle. If we can keep the creature contained in the Circle, we can attack through it and it will be unable to attack out of it, melee attacks. It will still be able to cast spells or fire a bow, for instance. I also have other defensive spells which I can cast. What do you all think?"
ooc: Does Khalani recall how long the coffin is or how high the ceiling in that chamber is? INT 22.
Caal looks at Khalani with a grin, "I am impressed, I think that's a fantastic idea."
The Dragonborn stretches and flexes himself physically, finally closing his eyes and reaching out to the edges of his well of arcane energies, a blue crackling aura shooting down his left arm. "Let's just say I have a few... fiery... energies that I can send into a neat magical circle," he says with a chuckle, "... unless we feel that total destruction may harm our goal..?"
The coffin is 10 feet long, and the ceiling is 10 feet high, but doesn't the spell say enter, the circle and the creature would already be in so it could pass right through the circle.
(ooc: You can choose to have the spell act in the opposite direction, i.e. prevent a certain type of creature from leaving and gaining disadvantage on attacks to those on the outside)
"I'll be up close and personal if that helps deciding on who gets protection. I don't know what I can do until I start swinging." Qatya wrings her hands on the maul. It's hard to tell if it's nerves or bloodlust, but she's having a hard time sitting still and waiting.
Khalani nods and moves out with the others. "After I cast the Magic Circle, and just before we open the coffin, I will cast Protection from Evil on you, Qatya."
As they approach the room, Khalani whispers a prayer for strength to his goddess.
ooc: DM, should I just describe what Khalani does in the room or is it dark again or is there something else going on?
As they approach the room, Khalani is relieved to see the room is not dark and the coffin remains closed. "Caal, can you see any magic in there?" he asks.
ooc: assuming the answer in No.
"Thank you," he murmurs softly. "Now, everyone stay as quiet as possible. Here is my specific plan. I will inscribe a circle about the coffin...it's just about at the limit of the spell's size...then I'll cast the protection spell on Qatya, and then she can push the coffin open, with divine assistance if needed. Then, probably, we fight. Questions or objections?"
Moving quietly, Khalani removes the bottle of holy water from his pack and examines the coffin before inscribing the circle, confirming the plan will work with the length of the coffin.
ooc: VeloElo, if Khalani feels the circle will work, he proceeds. If not, he goes back and explains the problem and that he'll go with his original idea and cast the circle as something he and one other can stay inside, then the Prot Evil then the coffin unless someone else has a different idea.
As they enter the room, Caal scans it for magic as before, but nothing seemed to have changed. He motions to Khalani as much, as the human continues to act out his plan. The Dragonborn gathers his arcane energies and focuses on the coffin. His right arm shimmers with ice that runs down into his hand, forming the shape of a longsword, before crumbling away to reveal his Pact blade once again. Now he was ready...
(ooc: Assuming that his Detect Magic doesn't pick up anything different to last time?)
Khalani inscribes the circle of holy water, moves back a bit, makes the necessary gestures and speaks the holy words to his goddess, all quietly. After a minute the circle springs up. He then touches Qatya, casting the protection spell on her.
"All yours my dear," he says quietly.
ooc: After all this whatever was in there has probably gone for a stroll LOL,or won't be undead.
Kraven gathers what few belongings he has, "Ready." And then melts into the shadows.

Oh I see now.
Kraven whispers out of the shadows in Khalani's voice, "Good plan, I have surprise too."
"Sounds like a plan, then. Unless anyone has anything else to plan, shall we press forward?" Maelgwyn suggests.

The plan seems to be able to work.
Qatya moves forward to accept the protection from evil/good she does not accept guidance but instead enters a rage gaining advantage on str checks
1 (for wild soul ability)
Str (+3 if Athletics): 19
And initiative: 20

Kraven will move around to the side getting ready for the creature to spring forth and attack, then will start to assault it.
(Not going to lie I forgot about the golem so can we just pretend it's been here for the entire time?)
ooc: Um...what golem?
