Holding up a hand to signal the group to stop, Khalani studies the door then turns back to the others. "There is some sort of protective spell on the door. I cannot say what it is. I can, however, try to dispel the magic. What do you all think?"
(ooc: are we still in a foot of water? Just checking if I missed us getting out :P )
Caal, still remaining at the back of the group, comes around the corner last, but nonetheless hears the exchange and smirks; If it's strong protective magic on the door, a maul may cause more backlash than intended he muses to himself. Out loud he speaks down the corridor "Better safe, than sorry, Khalani. Unless we can be sure it won't bite!"
Turning back to look behind, Caal blinks once, slowly. His eyes, normally an ice blue, turn pure white as he shifts his vision more towards Eldritch Sight.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Khalani nods and moves a little ahead of the group. For several seconds he moves his hands in complicated gestures while muttering under his breath the formula for dispelling the magic on the door. With a final shouted Word of power he thrusts his hands at the door.
Dispel Magic check (not sure how this works, what my spellcasting modifier is...sorry...um, help LOL)
OOC: (At the top of the "spells" section of your sheet you will see 3 numbers "modifier" "spell attack" and "save dc". You want to roll 1d20+{your modifier}, which for Khalani is 1d20+4. In order to do that you would type [r o l l] 1d20+4 [/r o l l] without the spaces.)
(ooc: Indeed; if the spell on the door is of level 4 or higher, you'll roll d20+4 vs DC 10+spell level. Magic is dispelled if it's level 3 or below, or if you beat the DC check :) )
"Door is protected by magic you say?" Borus looks at the door, then squints in anticipation, as if he was waiting for something to happen out of the blue.
(I know it says creature, but can I cast 'Command' on the door)(Also to be clear everyone, Borus does have an 8 in intelligence. So don't expect him to be such a... brilliant leader so to say lol)
Khalani curses, quite fluently, in six different languages for those of you counting. "Well, my friends, my spell failed to dispel the magic on the door. Suggestions?"
"Why not just open it?" He gives a look as Qatya advances towards the door and makes no move to stop them.
"The only thing I foresee the door doing it possibly just letting some alarm go off somewhere. And although that could be disastrous later on, it might just be better than wasting any more time as it is just to burst down a door."
"Abjuration magic can do much more than signal a simple alarm. There are wards that can inflict serious injury among other things. However, I agree we should open it and take our chances since it is that or go back," Khalani says.
"And leave this door unexplored? New to hunting for artifacts, are you?" Caal says amusingly to Qatya from up the corridor.
"Once our feathered friend here finishes investigating the door, I would assume the next course of action would be for a brave soul to attempt to open it... while the rest of us stood back, of course" he smirks.

"If that doesn't work I can try and 'dispell' the door." Qatya says tapping her maul into her open hand

Yes, you’re still in a foot of water.

There is a flash from the door and then...

(thanks all...I thought that was the case but wanted to be sure. I've edited the original post.)

When you cast the spell, something strange happens. Your detect magic still seems to be seeing the door as magical.

Made you look.
You cannot cast command on a door.
Qatya starts to wander toward the door as if to open it.

Kraven holds up a hand, "Wait." Then will carefully approach the door to see if it is trapped in anyway.

Qatya chimes in "We could always turn right around and go right again."
"And leave this door unexplored? New to hunting for artifacts, are you?" Caal says amusingly to Qatya from up the corridor.

"Aye, there are several clerics here who can patch you up!" Maelgwyn adds with a laugh. "Go ahead, open the door!"
