Xalkas lets out an annoyed huff. “I saw you attacking my friend...”
”Are you okay by the way?” He adds as an aside to Ebele.
“Then I realized that it you weren’t in control of your actions thanks to... to...” Xalkas continues but falters a moment on exactly how to describe it. “The wiles of a demon I suppose is the best way to put it.”
He eyes the succubus warily. Not all together disagreeing with Reghys, but also not wanting to voice that opinion either. The magic she could have controlled through him was frightening to think about. He gives a small shudder.
“If you don’t want to drink it that’s fine by me. Just trying to make amends for hurting you just now.” Xalkas says turning his attention back towards Benny. Still holding the potion up as high as he can...
Seamus leads T'chal'fronack'zcinicker to towards the church, his tired bones cracking with every step up the stairs to the large doors. Dusting his jacket off, he'd correct his posture before knocking on the door. "Lady Lynn?"
After the sound of some hallow steps inside, the door finally cracks open. "Seamus, it's nearly sun down. What are you doing-" The woman would stop abruptly when she'd spot the Tiefling next to him. She was also a dwarf, not much shorter than Seamus, dressed in robes. Her brows would raise in suspicion.
"Yeh. I'm aware Lady Lynn." He'd nod his head apologetically. "This gentleman claims he an' his fellows 'ave apprehended the Womford Bat. Says its a succubus." Seamus would scratch the back of his head. "An' I sure be foolish teh take her under my wing." He'd nudge T'chal'fronack'zcinicker a little in pride of his joke before clearing his throat. "I thought ye'd be best teh take care of this fiend." The dawrf would bow his head to the cleric.
Lynn would look back and forth between the two, her brows furrowing for a moment as she'd absorb the information. Eventually, she'd put a finger up. "I'll be right with you." The dwarven woman would close the door only to return moments later with a pack. "Off you go then." She'd turn Seamus around and push him along to lead the way. The pair of dwarves shuffle their way towards the Gristmill, Seamus giving Lynn a little boost up the retaining wall. Eventually they'd patter their way over to the scene.
Ebele would make her way out of the bush, gently rubbing her throat. "I'm okay." She'd say a little raspy in response to Xalkas, but she she was okay.
Lady Lynn would continue her way right over to Kerric. "Well my boy. What have you caught yourself?" She'd pipe up, inspecting the succubus from a safe distance.
With the cleric taking care of the fiend, Sheriff Seamus would spot a familiar face. "Benny?" He'd look from him to the gnome, then to the vial in Benny's hand. "Take it lad. Yer in rough shape." He'd give him a clap on the back. "Now what trouble 'ave ya gotten into this time eh?" the Sheriff would look to Benny then to Xalkas.
Benny would slowly uncork the vial and down it. His eyes were still wide and suspicious, but his wounds began to heal. He'd give a small nod of appreciation to Xalkas before pointing to him to explain to the Sheriff. "The wizard tells me I was under control..."He'd glance to Xalkas for confirmation again.
"Well, sheriff, this good man Benny here gave us directions earlier, but as we were coming out of the book shop we saw him being hustled along by a seemingly hostile female. Fearing for his safety, we followed and heard her speak dark words of some spell and enchant him," starts Kerric, adding, "and it seemed she planned to do something worse to him while he was enchanted. In any case, we feared for Benny's safety and intervened, attacking the apparent human female with nonlethal attacks until she was unconscious, then she revealed her true form as this demon. Already having attacked nonlethally since we were unsure if she were deserving of death, we decided to just keep her under until the proper authorities could arrive. Thankfully we took her down before she could successfully enchant any more of us, though the alliterative Benny was fighting on her behalf while under her influence."

Sheriff Seamus would nod to Benny. "Benny's bed time." He'd say simply. "Once Lady Lynn's done 'ere, we'll getchya home." The dwarf would exhale a breath. When he'd hear Kerric's voice, his eyes would pan the scene towards the elf.
Lady Lynn would prop herself in front of Kerric, hands on her hips, looking up at him. "Well. Aren't you a thorough lad." She'd give him a look up and down. "If only most of our encounters were as informative." The woman would glance over her shoulder to Seamus. "You need more like this around." She'd raise her eyebrows to the Sheriff. He'd correct his posture when she'd look, only to roll his eyes when she'd turn away. "You know you need the help Seamus. Don't be stubborn." She'd chime as if she knew.
Seamus heard Kerric's words and Lynn's. He absorbed them, but he'd have to take a double take. Rubbing his eyes and blinking, he'd stare at the Giant Spider nearby with his mouth opening and closing a few times. Tilting his head, he'd gesture to the creature that's held itself silent the whole time. "That wit you bunch?" He'd eventually get out. "Who are you all?" The Sheriff's eyes were a little wider, but he wasn't freaking out.
Lady Lynn would chuckle. "Blind as a bat, him." She'd gesture over her shoulder to Seamus before stepping her way to the spider. "My, what long legs you have." She'd praise. "Aren't you a big healthy one." The cleric would reach out to give it some scritches under their 'chin'. "Friendly too?" She'd ask after, clearly not bothered by the giant arachnid. "Ever thought of harvesting your venom?" She'd ask nonchalantly. "It's not every day I see one of you." The dwarf would chuckle. She'd wave off her ask for the moment. "Better take care of this fiend before she wakes up!" Lynn would give the spider a gentle pat on the head before she strides back to the succubus slowly beginning to stir at the elven warriors feet.
The cleric would couch down in front of the fiend, taking the woman's chin in her hand, she'd tilt it to face her. Blue eyes would stare deeply at the gagged and bound visage before her. As silence fell over the scene, Lynn would begin to hum. Slowly her melody began to grow, filling the air with a sense of calm. With her free hand, she'd reach into a pouch, pinching a mixture between her fingers. Dwarven words would begin to leave her mouth with an angelic ring. She'd smear a mixture of ashes and holy water over the demons forehead. It began to glow. And as she sang, little by little the light began to cloak the figure. Lady Lynn would snap her finger and her song would stop. The succubus vanished. The cleric would remain focused and silent in place for over a minute, as if waiting.
T'chal'fronack'zcinicker is unusually quiet as Kerric tells his story. His face shows a subtle, "Hunh, so that's what happened", but he stays quiet.
He watches Lady Lynn, impressed when she shows no fear of the large spider, and even touches it. To be honest, the big thing even sorta grossed out T'chal'fronack'zcinicker. Finally he watches, a shiver running up his spine as she performs her ceremony on the demon. He absently wonders if they should have questioned her, to see if she was summoned by someone...but decides to leave it. Everyone had a story, and you couldn't lose yourself in all of them. He did have a job to do. Though....maybe..oh well, too late now...as the demon vanished.
Finally he speaks up, "Thank you for your assistance with that most wicked demon. I'm ashamed to share some small part of my heritage with such evil manipulative creatures. We can only hope that she hasn't done too much harm to your towns folk here." Hmmm, ya, that's probably the sort of thing these people would want to hear from a Tiefling. His fingers itched. With no agreement about her services rendered, nor the services offered to the town, he was in completely unknown territory with these two. Were they about to accuse the group of helping said creature, or maybe demand a ridiculous fee for her banishing the demon, requiring that they do some community service to work off their debt, or worse, demand that they attend some sort of horrific award ceremony for saving their town? All of his contracts had escape clauses for such dreary functions.
He waits, with bated breath, to see what sort of demands they decide to make.

Finally relaxing his vigilant stance, Kerric says, "It was our pleasure to help, as it seems the tales of the Womford Bat had a kernel of truth embedded in them. We are in town investigating the disappearance of a Dwarven Delegation from Mirabar, as they did not arrive at their appointed time in Red Larch and rumors abound of"--he leans in closely and whispers--"cult involvement."

Reghys would reach out and place their hand on T's elbow, trying to calm him: "It's alright, I'm sure we could convince them that what transpired here does not amount to any legally binding contract of any sort. And between your knowledge of the law and my ... chaotic tendencies and way with words, I'm sure we'd be able to talk our way out of any trouble in the meantime."
When they hear Kerric whispering to the townsfolk, the satyr would groan slightly: "Ugh, way to lose the element of surprise if the cultists are amongst the town's elite." But, as was their nature, the mood soon changed: "On the other hand, it's the most direct way of getting answers I suppose."

There was a point that while they were waiting for the sheriff to arrive, Spider Hawke was seriously considering wrapping up the succbus into a cocoon and hanging her on a tree. He never was able to do it before in this form, and it would have been really fun to try it... Slowly, the spider stalks his way towards her while the group had their back turned, and he was this close to getting her in his grasp, but the sheriff showed up just in time.
The spider deflates a bit, saddened at the missed opportunity, but he lets Kerric explain the situation, wanting to stay in this form for a little longer. When Seamus sees him and asks if he was with them, he gives a small nod and wave to him, confirming that he was. Then, when the sheriff approaches him and compliments his legs, he uses one of his palps to give an 'oh you' gesture, and looks to fully enjoy the scritches under his chin. At the suggestion of harvesting his venom, he gasps mentally, never having thought of doing that before. That was definitely going on the list on things to do.
As the sheriff moves on to take care of the demon, he carefully moves back to get out of her way and let her do what she needed to do, watching with much interest. Afterwards, he listens on the conversation the fighter sparked with the boss lady dwarf, hoping she had some answers for them.

After the allotted time, Lady Lynn grew satisfied that her spell was successful and would dust her hands off indicating so. She'd turn to the tiefling who broke the silence first. With a playful pop of her brow, she was curious how genuine his words truly were. The cleric appreciated the kind words all the same, giving him a mischievous smirk when he'd itch.
Allowing further quiet to hang in the air, Lynn was greeted with a prompt additional explanation from their formal elf. A soft chuckle would escape her lips when she'd catch the slight moan from the satyr.
"It's not every day a knight in shining armour rides up with a party to solve your problems for you," The cleric would cast a glance over to the Sheriff, "Seamus." She'd bat her eyelashes at him.
Seamus crossed his arms, mumbling and grumbling into his beard. His eyes would roll dramatically as he'd let out a full bodied exasperated sigh. The old Sheriff would finally move a hand, only to start rubbing his forehead as he'd mutter one last thing in dwarven.
Lady Lynn would start chuckling, "What was that?"
"Yer right..." Seamus would speak up. "A'ight." He'd continue much louder, correcting his posture as Sheriff. He'd gesture with his chin towards the docs. "Since them Womford Rats showed up, things have been goin' topsy turvey. My men started goin' missin'... Eventually became a lone soldier wit no recruits." He'd admit. "Well,Benny 'ere's been mah eyes an' ears. The lads got 'is limits though." He'd gesture to the now spider spooked Benny.
"From what yer shiny knight is sayin', sounds like we got an opportunity teh work together 'ere." Sheriff Seamus would look from Kerric to T'chal'fronack'zcinicker. "Ya 'ave my permission tah conduct yer business within our community boarders. Naturally, I ask ya teh not harm Womford citizens, an' try not teh damage property. If it can be helped." He was a reasonable man. "I care not wut happens teh committed Cultists." He'd add.
"I'd like teh escort Benny an' Lady Lynn home, as it's getting late." He'd round the babbling Benny up. "If yeh wanna talk business details before, then we should walk an' talk. Rest if ya like." Seamus would propose. "But yer a young 'ealthy bunch. If ya wanna run along under tha cover of night, be mah guest." He'd shrug. "I'll reserve some space at the Inn fer yas either way. Ya know where teh find me."
During the conversations, Ebele would pluck some leaves and small branches out her hair as she'd find her way over to where she heard Reghys. She's unharmed and would be comfortable to continue from here if the group wanted too.
While he would be happy to leave the talk of business to his more legalistic friends, Kerric would like to accompany the others and make sure he isn’t getting signed up for more than he bargained for.
Nodding, he says, “I’m sure T'chal'fronack'zcinicker would be more than happy to negotiate for us on behalf of the Argent Alliance, especially if more details about cult activity are revealed along the way. I should be fine to continue our investigation once we get Bill settled at the inn and have our fill of food and drink.”

T'chal'fronack'zcinicker looks a little waspishly at the Satyr next to him, ug, it's fine to have feelings, as long as no one talks about them. Everyone knows that. He makes a mental note to add some words around such things to the group contract that no one will ever sign. He then nods to the Sheriff, "Very well, I would be happy to draw up a contract for our further assistance in Womford, and review it with you in an hour or so at the Inn, if you'd be willing to meet us there? That way we can rest after our vigorous management of the Womford Bat as well as a rather stressful book shopping experience. And you can escort these fine folk home. Then we sit in warmth and inside, and discuss details."

Anyone that happened to be looking at Xalkas would see a wave of relief wash over his face when Ebele would say “I’m okay” as she stumbled out of the bushes. ‘Maybe some of that cider of hers would help with that raspy sound in her voice’
When Seamus looks over to the diminutive gnome wizard, all he gets in response is a shrug from the learned gentleman. After all Xalkas had been busy buying supplies from the bookshop up the hill. He hadn’t a clue what actually happened. Once Benny realized the vial of liquid that had been offered was beneficial and not harmful. Xalkas would give a low bow followed by a quick affirmative nod that Benny had been under the influence of the now unconscious creature.
Xalkas stand silent during Kerric’s explanation of events. Xalkas finds it particularly interesting that the elven warrior keeps using the word ‘we’. Xalkas highly suspects that most Kerric did most of the ... heavy lifting as he is apt to do.
It’s only after Seamus and Lynn point out the giant spider that Xalkas notices it. He nearly leaps out of his skin and takes a few steps away before he sees something in its eyes that looks vaguely familiar. Like he’s seen this spider before.
Xalkas watches Lynn carefully as she seemingly performs some kind of magic. He wonders for a moment if it is something he might be able to master someday with enough study and practice.
Arcana: 16 (curious if Xalkas is able to recognize the magic used)
Xalkas listens carefully as Kerric, T'chal'fronack'zcinicker, Seamus and Lynn all continue speaking about the apprehension of the succubi and enlist the Alliance’s help in eliminating a group known as the womford rats. ‘Nasty little creatures rats are. Hopefully it’s more figurative than literal’
Lastly Xalkas can’t help but roll his eyes hearing T'chal'fronack'zcinicker mention his beloved contracts again. Xalkas suspects he likes them more than he likes just about anything else.
When Seamus would hear Kerric say the tiefling's name, he'd blink for a moment. "Bless you." At which point Lady Lynn would giggle, rolling her eyes from the Sheriff thinking the elf sneezed. He'd then look to the tiefling. "A'ight, Argent Alliance ally," He'd nod aknowledging their decision to rest up. "Appointment accepted after all are 'appily attended."
"Come, come, then!" The cleric would hook her arm through the tall elven knight's arm and begin tugging him off towards the inn.
Seamus would open his mouth, but then just close it. He'd grumble then wobble along after them with a bewildered Benny in toe.
A soft chuckle could be heard from Ebele when she'd hear the uneven, unsual steps of their usually more structured warrior. Kerric normally moved gracefully, not usually stumbling his steps or rustling his armour so much. She'd smile, amused at the excited pitter patter of smaller feet tugging him along. The monk would wait a little longer for the rest of the group to decide which way they were going. She was inclined to follow Kerric as T'chal'fronack'zcinicker or Hawke usually tended to maneuvering Bill. But if Hawke wanted to enjoy slinking around as this spider she's been hearing about, she was happy to help bring Bill to the stables to catch up with him there.
Xalkas, you'd recognize the spell as Banishment. (For the Nat 20 I'll grant: If he chose to study it and/or copy it at a later date when high enough level, he will be able to do so at half the cost/study time.)
T'chal'fronack'zcinicker takes a deep breath when the man says 'bless you', then falls in with Ebele heading over to the wagon and horse, "Alright, let's get this thing to the Inn then. He seems a little ornery when I drive instead of Hawke. Maybe you'll do better driving. I'll let you know if we're veering where we shouldn't." He hands Ebele the reins and leans back casually and unconcerned. "Straight'ish..." he waves his hand unnecessarily forward.

Xalkas follows along next to Lady Lynn. Chattering away about the magic she just used and all the particulars involved with its use. Scribbling furiously in one of his books when she answers his question.
When the groups arrives at their destination there’s a rather satisfied smile on his face. He then sits a bit away from the group to focus his time and energy on transcribing the recently purchased spells into his spellbook. (Two hours for detect magic and two hours for find familiar)
A bit bemused by the cleric’s forward manner, Kerric gives a helpless glance to the others and follows along where he is led, looking forward to cold drink and hot food.

Spider Hawke, seeing as it was about time to depart from this area, quietly follows behind T'chal and Ebele, having heard they planned on stabling Bill. The druid made a promise of apples for the horse for their earlier events, so of course, he had to honor it.

The Argent Alliance find themselves a little scattered this evening with Kerric getting tugged away with Lady Lynn, Xalkas close in toe. T'chal'fronack'zcinicker and Ebele take the lead towards the cart with Spider Hawke and Reghys right behind.
Pitter Patter Pack Lady Lynn and Xalkas chatted along excitedly, exchanging information on the spell she used. The two magic users chatted excitedly as their feet took them down the road. Sheriff Seamus tugged Benny along to trying to keep up. Eventually, Lynn paused. "Now you go take Benny home." She'd look back, waving off Seamus towards Benny's house, all while keeping a firm grip on her elven knight. "I have two fine gentlemen that can see me to the inn until you get back." The dwarven cleric would scoop Xalkas' arm with her free one, whisking the pair passed the tavern towards the church.
Seamus would grumble something in protest but it never reached their ears. He'd do his best to hurry Benny home to catch up with them.
Shh... You see nothing...

Lady Lynn would take a left turn to lead them north towards Spitefire Inn. If Xalkas and Kerric were to allow themselves the moment, it could actually be a pleasant walk.
The night is quiet and calm. Even while getting tugged along by the surprisingly strong Lady Lynn, Kerric was still plenty diligent at keeping a close eye on their surroundings. He could say without a shadow of a doubt that everything was peaceful on their way towards the inn.
Cart "I see." Ebele would quirk a smirk at T'chal'fronack'zcinicker's encouragement to try her hand at driving. "Okay!" She'd agree with enthusiasm before adding with a chuckle, "I'mma hold you to helping me through any bumps in the road."
The monk would try to check on Bill before hopping in the cart. She'd have to pause to listen for a moment to make sure she was approaching him properly, remembering the little tips Hawke had given her. Specifically the cardinal rule, never approach a horse from the back. Without her sight, Ebele would reach a hand out to sense Bill. She'd hear a defiant chuff. She couldn't help it, a soft giggle would leave her lips causing him to lift and a stomp of a hoof. "Oh aren't you a sassy one today." He'd huff, correcting his footing to stand more proper as if to 'show' her 'I am not'. "I don't know, that ride over wasn't your smoothest." The blonde would cluck her tongue. Bill would bray as if in shock before trotting his front hooves to communicate his dissatisfaction with her words. Then he'd stop abruptly, feeling Ebele's gentle touch on his nose. "Found you." She had been zeroing in on him through his exuberant communication. Bill would blink, then he'd snort, staring at the half-elf suspiciously. "Okay. I'll talk to him and help make sure he gets you your apples." She'd snicker, patting his snout. "But we're gunna have to work as a team to get you to a nice bed okay?" If a horse could grumble in agreement with this arrangement, he would just before nuzzling her hand one more time before shooing her away to get going. "Yes, okay!"
Making her way into the front of the cart where Hawke usually sits, Ebele's head would swivel to listen for him and Reghys to get settled. She'd give a sheepish grin, but was excited to try driving. Inhaling a breath, the blonde would take a moment to take in what of her surrounding she could. At T'chal'fronack'zcinicker's prompt, she'd give the reins a go.
Making some checks! A tiefling and a blind monk drive a cart... Animal Handling Check w/ Adv: 16 Survival w/ Adv: 14 (Forgot the adv, but we good.)
With promises of a talking too, his apples, and a nice stable to sleep in, Bill was content once again. For now. He trotted elegantly, easily turning them around in the space allotted to get them on the right path. The Argent Alliance's trusty steed was eager to get pampered after a really long day. He would even avoid the potholes he purposely aimed for on the way here, making this this look effortless for Ebele. He'd even take T'chal'fronack'zcinicker's nudging with class. Occasionally, Bill would glance back towards Hawke, lift his snout in the air before sprinting forward a little bit of a flick of his tail.
All this attitude was paying off though. The cart crew eventually catch up with a sweaty Seamus scurrying his way to Lady Lynn and Lads. Ebele would slow down to pick him up along the way. And before long, they reach the Spitefire Inn 'Parking Lot' as Lady Lynn was about to usher Kerric and Xalkas inside. "Perfect timing!" She'd chime.

Kerric:

"Well, Benny 'ere's been mah eyes an' ears.

Kerric:

Kerric:
A bit bemused by the cleric’s forward manner, Kerric gives a helpless glance to the others and follows along where he is led, looking forward to cold drink and hot food.

Xalkas waves his hand in a grandiose ‘after you’ gesture.
Spider Hawke, seeing as it was about time to depart from this area, quietly follows behind T'chal and Ebele, having heard they planned on stabling Bill. The druid made a promise of apples for the horse for their earlier events, so of course, he had to honor it.
At the wagon, Hawke planned to return back to his normal form to lead, but seeing the tiefling giving the reigns over to Ebele, he refrains and watches for now.

The Argent Alliance find themselves a little scattered this evening with Kerric getting tugged away with Lady Lynn, Xalkas close in toe. T'chal'fronack'zcinicker and Ebele take the lead towards the cart with Spider Hawke and Reghys right behind.
Pitter Patter Pack
Lady Lynn and Xalkas chatted along excitedly, exchanging information on the spell she used.

Cart
"I see." Ebele would quirk a smirk at T'chal'fronack'zcinicker's encouragement to try her hand at driving.

Relieved to see everyone arrive unharmed, Kerric holds open the door for all to enter, takes one last look around outside for any followers--especially of the cultist variety--then ducks inside behind the others to take some well-deserved rest and refreshment, thinking, "At least this time I didn't have to pay to come through the gate into town."
