Flux turns to face Kerric and Ebele, declaring his opinion clearly and respectfully. As he continues on his explanation with sound reasoning, the rock gnome wizard ambles off from behind the genasi, determined to investigate the orb.
Xalkas reaches for the orb to get a closer look. The moment his fingers touched it, he'd figure it out. The orb vanishes. It was a trap. And as if unleashing a centralized hurricane, the gnome is swept up into a whirlwind and suspended 20 feet in the air. He's restrained by the gale winds and battered by windblown debris (6 bludgeoning damage).
Flux just crosses his arms over his chest and smirks at the gnome as he gets his comeuppance. IF, however, the others are far less amused or appeared about to take some rather extreme risks to rescue the Xalkas, such as braving the whirlwind, he'd call out a quick "Hold on!",huffs, and then breaks out a rope to pass to Kerric. "A lifeline for the fool. Just throw one end to'em after the others take the other. Or if'n ya feel'n extra bold, one of ya can tie yourself and jump in with him, grab'em, and then, uh... the rest of us can be try'na reel ya both back in."

Kerric:
Quickly tying the end of the rope into a loop, Kerric tosses it into the whirlwind, trying to time it right to have it intersect with Xalkas. “Grab hold and I’ll pull you out!” says the warrior, concerned for the Gnome’s safety.

All Ebele could hear was a sudden rush of wind followed by Xalkas’ plea for help, and Kerric’s rush to his aid. Should she have witnessed the sight, she would have been equally as amused as Flux. Alas, it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt. And thus far Xalkas has avoided the worst of the debris, considering there were weapons amongst the scattered remnants below.
Kerric tosses a rope out towards Xalkas. Holding firmly on the warriors end, the loop misses the gnome and flaps along in the wind. As he’s tossed about in the winds, he’d have to grab it on his next passing. As his feet are strongly planter into the ground, Kerric comes to realize the true power of the gale and that it is taking effort for him to not get sucked in from, or lose grip of, the rope. It takes Flux stepping in to help him hold firm without wavering.
Vs Xalkas Bludgeoning Damage: 3
Shwoop! There goes the druid. Lewin’s curiosity pulled him in, significantly too close to the phenomenon, and he too gets sucked into the whirlwind. In his desperate efforts, he calls forth a vine.
Flux and Kerric feel Ebele press up behind them, using them as a protective barrier from what ever gusty non sense was going on. She reaches out with her staff as if to feel out and probe the air.
Vs Lewin Bludgeoning Damage: 8
You Spin Me Right Round Baby Right Round (Calling for checks. As a spoiler, this winds DC is 20, so I’m flying by the seat of my pants and going with what I think makes sense to help make up a reasonable solution based on your actions as a team.)
Athletics/Acrobatics Check: DC13 (For Xalkas to grab hold of Kerric’s rope. With help from Flux, Kerric planting his feet with a 23 holds him firm to provide the rope. I decided to make the DC the same as what Kerric rolled to throw it, so kind of like a ‘contested’ roll to make it more ‘fair’ if that makes sense?)
Roll Call: Xalkas
Whip It Good (Going to allow a bit of improvisation with the vine whip because I can’t see why one wouldn’t be able to use it to pull themselves forward. It’s a cantrip, so I imagine it’s a mastered spell.)
Vine Whip ‘Attack’ (Roll it like you would be attacking. Depending on the ‘accuracy’ of the hit, will determine the outcome.)
Roll Call: Lewin
(Please forgive me if this is not standard DND as RAW solutions. I’m guilty of going with what make sense to me for a solution. If it feels grossly inaccurate, please feel free to suggest what may be preferred. Thank you for understanding.)
Xalkas twists and turns himself about trying to grab the rope. At one point he manages to get his fingers on it and grabs hold for a brief moment before the gusting wind rips it away.
”I wasn’t planning on touching the thing but it was just so shiny!” He yells over the winds.

Swirling round, Xalkas sees his opportunity to grab at the rope coming up. He reaches out with his little gnome fingers and even tries to kick his legs, toes stretched, and... he comes up just short. Around he goes again!
Vs Xalkas Bludgeoning Damage: 6
Meanwhile Lewin calls upon the natural world to come to his aid. From the cavern walls a root lashes out, nimbly grabbing hold of him, wrapping around his ankle and whips him back to safety. SMACK! With a little bit too much oomph, the vine slams Lewin against the wall.
Vs Lewin Lewin takes that 10 bludgeoning damage and he's free of the whirl wind, so long as he doesn't step any closer.
1 Minute in 'Bliss' (Round 3 of 7 for this whirlwind effect)
(Flux and Kerric, as long as they are working together, can hold steady without getting sucked in while the rope remains flapping in the winds, ready for Xalkas to come around again. This time with Ebele in position with her staff, we're going to say she's ready to provide help, giving Xalkas advantage on this next attempt. Should Lewin choose to take an action, he could vine whip Xalkas to pull him free, keeping in mind the (nonlethal) damage would apply.)
(By no means tied to any of these actions. Everyone free to RP, add a bonus action, and/or change their action, keeping in mind it could/would affect the set up above.)
Xalkad comes around again ready to try and grab the rope again. As he’s almost got it in his grasp Ebele moves it slightly with her staff and nudges it away from him. (At least that’s what I saw in my head with the results I rolled).
Flux stays the course in continuing granting Kerric assistance, but with an increasing more obvious look that is a strange mix of annoyance over the risk being taken and amusement in watching the gnome whirl about from karmic justice for not seeing wisdom. Though, there is a brief moment in which the genasi looked a touch ponderous over something, before shaking his head and shoving aside the thought.

Lewin motions for the vine to reach out for his companion. It throws itself into the whirlwind. A thorn just catches the wizards boot, enough to snag him so the vine can wrap around. He feels the thorns cut through his sole and pierce his foot. He’s pulled out and plopped down beside Flux.
The wind continues to swirl viciously, and would continue to do so for at least another thirty seconds if any one dare tempt their fate. Otherwise it would eventually slow and dissipate Debris and battered gear clatters back to the floor, not much different than before.
If but to focus on the retrieval of his rope, any commentary from Flux is forestalled for a time. But just as soon as he's done -- conveniently around the same time as the winds die down -- laughter precedes the genasi saying, "So, what have learned my gnomish friend? Is ta listen to da wisdom of others? Or do it only be dat it pays to have good, good friends, hm?"He waits maybe a few heartbeats for an answer, and even if a negative one, Flux lets out another bout of laughter before finding the focus again to call upon a miracle and mend at least some of Xalkas' hurts.

Xalkas ambles over to the glassy orb to try and determine what it is. (Not sure what you want for a roll, but here’s an 18 arcana.)
