Xalkas picks the dagger back up and hands it to T'chal'fronack'zcinicker “Hold this a minute would you please.” (Assuming he’s doing so) Xalkas says the word on the dagger again wondering if the dagger will still turn on in someone else’s hands.
A grin spreads across the gnomes face. He then takes the dagger back from T'chal'fronack'zcinicker and says the word to turn the light back off. Then hands the non dagger of light to the tiefling. “You can have this one back to sell. I’ll keep this one if that’s quite all right with you.”
Xalkas then makes his way to the Northwest corner of the room with dagger, sets it down on the floor and then moves to the northeast corner of the room. Saying the word inscribed on the dagger every five feet trying to determine if there is a range of how close to the dagger he needs to be.
Satisfied with his experimentation for now, Xalkas tucks the dagger into his belt after ensuring that the light it emits is off. Walks back over to T'chal'fronack'zcinicker “On second thought perhaps having two isn’t such a bad idea.” He takes back the non dagger of light and tucks it into his belt also. Giving him a dagger near each of his hips.
Feeling mostly back to normal from having witnessed the execution of the captives, Xalkas heads into the chamber to the west and upon seeing the prisoner blurts out, “Don’t tell me you’re about to kill him too.”
”Now, Xalkas, what would give you that idea? This poor lad has suffered enough for losing the note, and we just want to make sure he returns to a safe situation once he has properly recovered,” the warrior explained.
While waiting for the others to make their thoughts known, Kerric moves over to speak to the excitable gnome, saying, “This boy is not yet corrupted by the evil of the cult. I am trying to determine how abusive his father is and perhaps convince the boy to find a safer place to live.” Looking back at the other room, he adds, “The fanatics who try to attack us even after their capture are truly lost to the madness of evil and beyond helping. This boy is not.”

T'chal'fronack'zcinicker takes the non-magical dagger back. He observes Xalkas' experiments with the magical blade. He nodes in appreciation of his thorough investigation, and hands the non-magical dagger back to him. "We don't have a firm agreement yet, but I think it makes sense, especially for someone who can't see in the dark. But, of course, its value will be taken from your share of the treasure." He makes a few more notes, and then packs up his papers, packs up his little stool, and wanders into the room with the prisoner.
He asks a couple questions just to recap anything he missed, and taps his finger against his chin.
"I believe this boy has suffered enough already at the hands of these fanatics. I would hate for him not to make it home safely. It is late, and there are many strange events afoot. I suggest he stay with us, while we explore the rest of this site, and then we can escort him safely home to his father." He looks to the boy, and firmly says, "This is the best course of action. It will not take us long to return you to your father in good health. However, I do have some paperwork for you to fill ...ah...well. This is quite a conundrum. No consent form. No non-disclosure agreements." He glances at Reghys, "This deal has been a poor one for all our sakes, but, a deal is a deal. Boy, no paperwork for you. I'm sorry if this leaves you feeling some litigation exposure but there's no fix for it at the moment I'm afraid."
Ensuring they've searched the room thoroughly, he takes a few notes about the people's names and such, and then says to the boy, "Do you know what these rods are for?"
In response to Kerric’s first question Xalkas can only visible gulp, though his thoughts race ‘there was no need to kill them while they were all tied up. It wasn’t right. Even if they are evil’.
After a moment or two Xalkas shrugs his shoulders, points his thumb back to the room with the cultists. Then points to Kerric and then makes a slicing motion with his finger on his throat. Attempting to convey since the cultist were taken out by Kerric he might do the same to the boy.
Xalkas listens thoughtfully when Kerric comes over and talks to him directly about what occurred with the captured cultists. And sees the good in trying to help the boy.
”Not long in town,” Xalkas admits “What has the boy said?” After having Kerric fill him in adds “Perhaps believers is referring to the local shrine? And going to the wagon works should be a priority once we are done here and rested?”
Xalkas lets out a low whistle after reading the inscription “Seems there’s quite a few groups that use this area. Maybe they have certain dates and times they can use it in a contract.” When the word contract is said, Xalkas looks directly at T'chal'fronack'zcinicker.
T'chal'fronack'zcinicker looks to the boy, "The men that were here with you. Are they believers as well? Grund was the name...uh..is...the name of one of them? Does Grund also live in Red Larch? Did you...I mean...uh...Do you get along with Grund or is he a big jerk who deserves to have his head cut off?" T'chal'fronack'zcinicker laughs a bit nervously and shrugs to the rest of the group, waiting for the boy to answer.

Reghys shoots T a very dirty look. The legalistic attitude had somehow managed to remove all sense of subtedly from their fellow horned companion. As far as the boy was concerned, Reghys didn't see any point in killing unarmed and defenceless people. Those who did were typically not the sort that Reghys wanted to read, write or sing about.

Not that Ebele was expecting praise from the elf, especially after his comment back at the tavern, but the lack of acknowledgement for the mending was noted simply because the monk felt like it was a pretty damn good patch job. No matter. She was satisfied and move on to caring for the boy while Kerric continued his interrogation.
The monk would offer the boy some snacks from her rations and extra sips from her waterskin should he need it to wash it down. If he had any cuts or scrapes, she'd disinfect those before putting her healing kit away for now. "I know you're afraid, and there's nothing better than being back home in your own space. But I'm going to have to ask you to be brave a little longer. Yes these guys say a lot of words, but they mean well. We just want to make sure you get back safe." Ebele's voice was a lot softer than she's ever spoken around the others. She was strictly addressing the boy. "How about this. What do you say to being my eyes? We could really use the extra pair." A gentle smirk will grow across the halfelfs cheek as her head would tilt in a way to suggest she may have tried to wink. "Maybe even a piece of treasure for sticking it out." Ebele's head would turn a little as if to indicate to T 'Yes, I know. It can come out of my share'.
