As the sphere falls, Kerric reflexively tries to catch it in case it might shatter upon hitting the floor.

Smoothly palming it, he only then realizes that touching it may not have been the best idea. He sets it down gently and waits for T'chal to do his magical investigation.
T'chal'fronack'zcinicker passes the paper to Xalkas, suspecting he may want to investigate it further, but seemingly having lost interest. He all but ignores the levitating glowing sphere.
He turns to the group and begins pacing, while orating, gesticulating with his hands, "So...let me get this right. Under the ground, beneath the town, we found a secret cult of earth worshipping fanatics. Suspecting they might in fact be part of something larger, we came to 'Lance Rock', a large rock in the middle of nowhere, finding a cave, in which lives a Necromancer, who's limited talents appear to be making himself glow, and hiding behind carpets. He has this glowing floating sphere thing, which he keeps on a lovely homemade piece of furniture, above which floated some dark eye that he was deathly afraid of."
He stops significantly, looking to and fro at the group, but not really waiting for them to add anything.
"So, what we actually have is some crazies living underground under the town, and a nut bar out here who...is not a people person, but no where do we have any actual sign of anything much more significant. No...big...unapproved evil being performed anywhere around here. Nothin, just some small time crazies and a few brigands. Well great. This has really been almost a complete bust."
He raises his finger in the air, a small smile rising, "Except, for MY one victory!" He holds forth his ledger with the tally of kills.
"No no, I know what you're going to say, 'But, T'chal'we're'too'dumb'to'remember'more'than'two'syllables, you did not win the competition. In fact, you lost!', and you would indeed be right, if we'd all been playing the same game. I wasn't playing the 'most kills game'. I was playing the 'make Regyhs focus on the mission at hand and not go off being all random' game. I think we can all agree, in our limited time together, we've never seen such admirable focus to completing a mission, in our musical friend here. I am going to call this a resounding success!"
He grins a devilish grin. "Now, shall we steal all the valuable from this place and head back to town and meet um with some dusty dwarves from Miribar?"
Reghys just clears their throat: "The glowing was my doing... oh, never mind." Hearing that T had tried to trick them into focussing on a task at hand, Reghys gave a very bright small and light laugh: "Well played, tiefling, well played! I still expect you to pay up though."
Then, with a bit more time for reflection, the satyr added: "I'm not sure that these things aren't connected. I'm not a student of the arcane, but I am certain that levitating rocks in two otherwise unconnected locations is a rare thing. For my money, there is a connection here that we're simply not seeing yet."

He does some quick math, pulling out a purse of coins of his own to split things out. He then divides up the treasure then and there. "Each person receives 58 gold, and 31 copper. Four of you will be taking a gem for 50 of your gold." He hands the coins and gems out.
He tucks the clothes, food, supplies, and bedding away in a bag which he then hands to Kerric to carry, shrugging with an apology. "I presume that stick is a magical wand which we will need to identify, and then one of us can take it on loan for the time being. And I suppose someone may want to keep that floating glowing sphere around on loan as well."
He scribbles in his ledger for a short time.

After having searched fruitlessly for the 10 minutes it took for the magic item identification, Kerric wipes the black ash off his fingers and says, “Yes, let’s see what we can find. I was hoping to find some clue linking this necromancer with the Black Earth Cult, but any documentation on the leader went up in flames with his body.”
Kerric moves back to the long room and to the base of the stairs, looking up to see what might lie ahead.
