Xalkas lounged comfortably in the back with Reghys, soaking in the afternoon sunlight. Mean while T'chal'fronack'zcinicker just could not get that rock out of his head. He should make note of it for the ride back!
Further in the distance, just off to the left of the trail, Kerric and Hawke, you catch glimpses of smoke rising above the bushline. Your experience tells you it's definitely not a forest fire. The waft of a cooking fire just catches your noses.

The monk heard Hawke's mumble and T'chal'fronack'zcinicker's response. She giggled.
"Looks like we have a campfire ahead to the left," says Kerric, his elf eyes keen for anything out of the ordinary. "Be alert in case the chef is hostile," he adds, smiling.

When Kerric would mention that he sees a campfire, Ebele would tilt her nose up and sniff around. It would take until they were a little closer for her to pick it up. Didn't they head this direction in search of the missing delegation? Didn't they just stumble upon some shallow graves? The monk would pat her nose before turning her head to Kerric before smiling herself. "I'll snoop ahead. See what goodies we got!" The monk would dart off into the treeline, following her nose.
Stealth: 13
Ebele's entry into the bush wasn't quiet. Kerric and Hawke were able to follow her every move through the thicket. They'd even catch her bonking into a branch and stumbling a little. Though, after some eventual settled silence, the rustling would start again and the monk would emerge from the tree line, picking some leaves from her hair. She'd brush off some dirt on her shoulder. Then, she'd pause like she blanked for a second. Ebele forgot what she had counted on her way back from the camp.
"Uhh... So no chefs. A mix of bandits and cultists though."
Drawing his bright blade, Kerric responds, "Well, it looks like we have some work to do. Perhaps pull the wagon off to the side of the road and try to sneak up and catch them by surprise?" Turning to Ebele, he asks, "How many are there?"

‘Hopefully it’s not those fire cultists again’ Xalkas thinks to himself as he takes up a position near the back of the group. Attempting to move as quietly as possible.
T'chal'fronack'zcinicker glances around at the rest of the group, "Hmmm, seems simply passing on by isn't an option. Very well." He climbs down from the back of the wagon and pulls out his crossbow. "Ebele, did you happen to notice what color they were wearing. You can't see my face right now, but it's has a mischievous and cheeky grin on it."
"Kerric, remember that you're contractually obliged to be the bravest warrior in the group. You may not have seen it, and it's not actually binding since you haven't signed it, but it's one of my latests editions. Xalkas acknowledges T'chal'fronack'zcinicker with a shrug. “Thanks for the vote of confidence?” And then waits for the rest of the group to proceed ahead of him.

Xalkas' small steps and shorter stature worked in his favour today, nimbly blending him into the bush line. T'chal'fronack'zcinicker follows shortly after. He was just about as graceful as Ebele was. The tiefling was able to see and navigate fine, but it was the branches snagging at his snazzy new jacket and threatening to knock off his hat that caused his rustling. Even with his words, Kerric moved along silently, blending in with his surroundings. Then along crashed their tall, half blind, Kalashtar.
Hawke lost sight of the crew. And in his effort to try to be silent and retrack their steps, a branch would appear abruptly in his view. Moving it aside in his haste, he'd reveal a clearing. The druid found the bandits. Five of them to be exact. Cultists too. Three of those guys, two of them had shields and the other a staff. They all had been sitting around the fire, enjoying a meal when they heard the rustling in the bush and stood up. One of the shieldbearers had started heading towards the sound when Hawke would present himself.
"Well, well, well... What do we have here?" She smirks, looking him up and down. Her hand was held at the ready on the hilt of a toothed longsword.

Xalkas remains distant and as he looks over hit pick of the litter, the observant scholar notices the cultists actually do not resemble the fire cultists. They are of their own. Xalkas takes careful aim, sending off three rays to each bandit further back.
