Rictor goes from smiling in relief at the sight of Jimmy's friendly face to scowling in annoyance. "You're telling me those motherless yellowbellies turned tail? They wouldn't last a day on the mean streets of the Big Apple!"
He spits on the ground and sighs, nodding to Val. "Weapons out. Every time we turn a corner in this place there's something new trying to kill us," he says pointedly to Jimmy as he draws his revolver. Once everyone gathers up he heads down the next unexplored passageway.
There were three items found by the fire: a pair of old smelly boots, a boot knife and, a single sock. Rictor casts Detect Magic. All 3 items radiate magical energies.
Rictor holds up a hand to stop Jimmy or Val from approaching the discarded items. "I have no idea why, but this pile of junk is giving off magical energy."
"The question is why would anyone want to create an illusion of such random, discarded crap? Unless they're trying to make us think one of our friends is in here somewhere, but thanks to Jimmy we know they high-tailed it."
He gestures beyond the fire. "Let's keep moving. I can keep sensing magic so long as I concentrate on the spell."
Keth looks again at the mysterious items and back to Rictor, "I don't think we should puzzle over these caves anymore friend. We should round up the cattle and get moving.
"As for those things there, I will just give them a nudge. They may have some value to us." The native walks over and crouches down with long knife in hand. Keth slowly moves the knife to prod at the items gently.
Rictor scratches the scruffy hair on his chin and nods. "I think you're right. Even if there is more to be found in this place, it probably is best left alone. As for the magic sock? Maybe someone got blasted with some sort of magic and these leftovers are still infused with magical energy? I'd say that's a good sign to get the hell out of here."
"I don't know Mr. Rictor." Jimmy says "I ain't ever heard of magic that clings to something unless it's magic it's self. I mean, magic things got to be made of special materials to keep the magic bound to it, at least that's what they told us in school. So if that sock is magic, it means it's made to hold magic." Jimmy goes silent.
OCC: Rictor appears to have suggested everyone leaves this place. Val and Keth seem to have suggested continuing to explore the place. What do you do?
(So Rictor, unless we fit a rest in there somewhere, is at 4 health. I don't know if we survive anymore combat encounters. We can even take the items with us and figure those out later.)

Jimmy
"Yes Sir Mr. Rictor." Jimmy says. There is a short moment of silence as Jimmy pulls his pistol then he asks:
"What sort of place is this?" Jimmy looks around and stares at something on the floor. "Who would go about with one sock on." Jimmy asks.
“Somebody with one foot maybe?”

Keth Perception Roll: 13
Val perception Roll: 14
Rictor Perception roll: 4
Jimmy Perception roll: 8
Keth notices a slight movement and Jimmy jumps back and points: "That sock just moved!'
Rictor doesn't muck about with examining the moving sock any further. He casts Detect Magic to make sure it isn't some sort of magical sock.
(OCC:...LOL...made me chuckle but....)

(Waiting on Keth)
After Keth responds, everyone give a marching order.
Keth looks again at the mysterious items and back to Rictor, "I don't think we should puzzle over these caves anymore friend. We should round up the cattle and get moving.

As Keth moves the items with his knife, nothing happens.

Val will follow the consensus

(OOC: Keth suggested we round up the cattle and keep moving and Rictor agreed.)
Got it. Will continue in the morning post with everyone moving from the place, starting a small cattle drive to move PCs back to the ranch.
(I mean we can discuss what we want to do in more detail. The groups I've been a part of in the past would have taken an hour to decide lol)
OK..I will postpone till the party gives me a solid decision on what they do next.
