(Still camping and mostly out of reception. Happy for the DM to keep playing Dylan. Still reading this when I can. Enjoying the start and the interesting characters! Back in civilisation Monday 10th).
Gaèl shrugs and nods. "We'll start right away then, huh? Count me in as well. But, how are we to notify you in case we discover anything about your friend, Sir Volothamp?"
"Ah, how rude of me. Sorry, I'm a bit out of sorts. Floon and I are very close. I'll be here in the evenings if you find something for me. Very well. Here are 10 Dragons apiece. If you need anything else from me, let me know. And also, thank you so much for your time!" Volo grabs his mug and lifts it up in your honor.
Is there anything else you want to do in the Yawning Portal before you set off? If not, are you heading directly to the Skewered Dragon?

You all depart the Yawning Portal, starting a mission to find Floon. On your way to get to the Skewered Dragon, which lies on Net Street and Fillet Lane of the Dock Ward, you come upon the aftermath of some kind of bloody event. You turn a corner, and you find yourselves on a street cordoned off by the City Watch. Lying on the cobblestones are half a dozen corpses, seemingly victims of some terrible skirmish. A dozen Watch officers have disarmed and arrested three blood-drenched humans and are in the midst of questioning witnesses. One of the officers sees you. "Get on," she says, "Nothing to see here."

Gil looks at the officer and starts to nod but then shifts his focus to the bodies on the ground and gasps.
"Bertrand!" he blinks, "My goodness, that's Bertrand, he was the bass player in my band." He takes one step closer to the scene but stops as he nears the officer. He looks at her, with a sadness in his eye. "Please Ma'am, can" . . . " Gil sniffles dramatically, "Can you tell me what happened to Bert. His mother is going to be devastated, I need. . . to tell her what happened to her little boy."

Gaèls eyebrows narrow at the sight, slightly disturbed by this public display of brutality. As he sees Gil approach the officer of the city watch, he tries to in conspicuously get a little closer to the scene to look at the bodies, first to see if any of them match the description of Floon, then to get an impression of what in the gods names happened there.
Dra'vos, unfortunately, between the distance and the blood covering their bodies, you are unable to identify any distinguishing marks. You do notice that those arrested have been disarmed and are kneeling with their hands on their heads.
Sylivar and Gaèl, first thing you see, is that the victims are similarly garbed to those that attacked Yagra. None of them are even close to the description of Floon. The three arrested each make eye contact with you at various points during your survey of the scene. You watch as the guard makes indiscernible interrogations of the three, with no response at all from them.
Gil, the guard you're starting talking to starts to seem sympathetic, but another hears you and says "Oy, Hubert, ya daft bastard. He's just being nosy! You there. Your 'friends' here were Xanathars, and if you don't want to be questioned for your involvement with the Guild, you'd best get on."

Dra'vos places a hand on Gil's shoulder then bows his head to the guard, "I must apologize this lost soul is easily confused we are trying our best to aid him. May you be graced by the Platinum Dragon." Dra'vos tries to pull Gil away from the guard and continue on their way.
Sylivar quietly says to the rest of the group; "Xanathar's Guild and the Zhentarum have recently increased their feud, and this could be the aftermath of a battle between the two. If Sir Blagmaar's disappearance was due to an entanglement with either of the guilds it may be worthwhile to ask a member if they have seen him around recently. Unfortunately, I fear upsetting the City Watch would be too much of a risk to ask if the three prisoners are of either guild or have seen Blagmaar around."
Dylan would like to approach the city watchmen with his usual affable and open smile. He’ll simply inquire as to what has occurred and ask if there’s anything he can do to help. All very politely and friendly.

(Dra'vos, go ahead and roll deception once more.)
Dylan approaches the guard that Gil and Dra'vos are talking to. "My friend, we are simply concerned citizens. You have to admit this is quite a scene. We are mostly concerned for our safety and with ensuring that we have done everything that we could to aid the Watch. Is there anything we can do here to help? Anything you can tell us about what happened?"
Persuasion 7
The guard says, "I appreciate your concern, but there is nothing more I can tell you here. We have the suspects under control, so you do not need to be concerned for your safety. These folks got into a scrap and these folks *gestures at the arrested* are the survivors. Can't confirm anything else until they're fully interrogated."
