A cheery rock gnome named Krystaleen runs this shop. She is the niece of the pawnshop’s previous owner, Thimblewine, who died of old age a few years ago.
Carilius also enters the shop, placing a quarter staff, his basic longsword and a set of leather armour on the counter what would you be willing to trade for these, they do nothing but weigh me down?
The gnome looks up with wide eyes at the array of items dumped on the table. She turns to Leo as he was the first to walk in. “Hmmm all in serviceable condition, not perfect but good, errrr okay so minus what it would cost to resell, carry the 5..... ok sir for these items the best I can do is 122 gold otherwise I won’t turn a profit on the resale.”
She looks at Carilius’ items next. “Errrrrr okay let’s see, leathers never been damaged, staff and sword look in good condition. Minus the 4 and carry the 9.... best for those items is 29 gold sir.”
the door creaks open to a dimly lit room. In the centre is a lowered ring with drunks, gamblers and toughs circling it cheering and drinking while the fights take place. Eoan hears the roar as the two combatants inside the ring currently beat the snot out of each other. Above the bar is a single sign saying the Bats Roost in common.
“Sorry sir I don’t mean any disrespect but 3( is more than what they are worth. Brand new from a smithy this would set you back 32 gold. Second hand? I can’t go higher than 29 or I won’t turn a profit”
You see a blind tiefling sat in the corner of the establishment. He speaks quietly into a device and attaches the device to a flying snake which then takes off and disappears into the shadows. Multiple flying snakes circle the man either returning messages or leaving carrying some.
You slip through the crowd to get close enough to hear but it seems that he is making records of wagers and the odds
Jhee-kharr looks through the knickknacks lining the shelves of the pawn shop but does not spot anything of interest, either to his keen interest in history or for anything else.
Eoan approaches the tiefling slowly and with courtesy “ interesting place you have here friend. ‘Names Eoan ... I’m new to town . Spare a moment to tell me about the fights on tonight ?”
The tiefling nods. “Welcome Eoan. I’m Bosskyn Gorrb. This isn’t my establishment. I maintain the Keel Hall, it’s the festival hall down the street but it’s closed most of the year. The Bats Roost is set up for the locals to settle disagreements or grudges without it going too far. The rest of us just like placing bets and setting odds to pass the time. You thinking on betting or competing?”
“ A bit of both Bosskyn. If the odds stand well enough against me to make it worth my time, and coin. Put me in the ring and perhaps we can both make some gold from it? I hold no grudges against anyone in this place but some sparring is always welcome.”
“Well there’s only one competitor when it comes to not settling grudges. The towns champion will accept all challengers but the odds are against you she doesnt mess around”
