Olwer aims to visit all the rest of the open shops in town, checking out the wares and chatting with anyone who seems friendly. As always, he's looking to get names and professions.
If he can work these things into a conversation, he will bring up:
vague rumors he's heard of 'wild elves' in the woods
his disappointment at not being able to play music for the local people in the tavern, now that it burned down
business, is it doing well?
He plans to share any information he obtains with the others, tonight. Perhaps draw up a list of names.
Aishela is much more socially blunt than Olwer, with little concern for how she is received. She tells the others with her, “I’m going to investigate the tavern ruins first, while there’s daylight. Ask about the tavern staff and owner, as well as the guard, if you’re speaking to the townsfolk. I’ll want to interview those individuals after I finish looking into the tavern.”
She goes directly to the burnt out building, and circles it once, then carefully enters and searches for physical evidence as well as samples for testing. She tries to discern from the pattern of burn and collapse if the source of the fire can be determined, perhaps one section of the structure appears to have burnt more fiercely then collapsed leaving another intact but buried, etc.
On the suggestion of her fellow investigator she will also be on the lookout for a cellar or basement entrance, perhaps now buried under rubble, and will see if that can be accessed and might remain intact.
Olwer runs out from upstairs down to the ground and up the path passed Tyreil in a blink. Full sprint he catches up to the others in Town and investigates the first place he comes to in town, the Armorer.
Walking inside there's actually not much to buy. It seems like a collection of metal sheets rather than an armory shop. There are no samples or examples of the work to be purchased. At the desk is a confident man with a funny mustache. He twirls it a bit and asks how can he help. Owler begins polite conversation with him about rumors but the smith waves him off. He suggest a helmet type and for awhile Olwer carries it on but then he tries to bring up the tavern and the smith stops him mid sentence. It would appear he's all business as he shouts, "if you aren't interested in buying something, I'm not isn't interested in talking!"
Olwer takes the hint and jumps a store to the very similar, but clearly distinct, weapon smith. The woman there is much more social and suggests that the man with the funny mustache is a simply a charlatan pretending to be a smith. She is also somewhat businesslike, dismissing rumors and talks of the tavern immediately, but she is much more forth coming about how her business is doing. She talks of this man who would come in and look around but never wanted any weapons. He just walked in there, probably to hit on her, and then would leave huge tips for no reason. Since he's been suspected of arson, she's obviously had to work a lot harder but her reaction to the guy disappearing is a solid "meh." She suggests maybe she could fashion Owler an arrow head set, but outside that she's not a music person or an instrument maker.
Back outside, the final shop is closed. You are unsure what's inside as the windows are covered and dark. There is a painted sign on the door window reading "gone to pick mushrooms with druids, will probably be back."
Having met the rest of the town, Olwer stood under the lamp post in the middle of town deciding where was the best place to find the next piece of information.
Aishela finds the charred remains of a building. Wading through the ash, it appears there was a basement door in the back on the floor, but it is covered in fallen debris. It appears undamaged but it also appears like you would need to be a giant to open it.
(If you want to lift it open, roll a strength to clear the object, as well as a strength check to pull the extremely heavy wood and iron door open.)
Irenia stares at the sign. "That's reassuring." She will find the first town guard she sees and asks," Excuse me, where would I find the owner of the tavern?"

Aishela prepares her Block and Tackle which can enable a person to lift more weight than they could normally with the aid of engineering principles, using pulleys and cables, but even with the aid of mechanics decides that she would be best served getting others involved. She goes to round up any other investigators in the immediate vicinity, in particular looking for Genesh or Tyriel, who appeared the most robust of the group, likely only finding one of the two as Genesh went to search the woods. To all the investigators in the town area, she relates, "There is indeed a cellar or basement, but it's covered with rubble. I have a block and tackle set up to make lifting it a bit less strenuous, but this is still a job for more than one person. Shall we see what's hiding down there?"
((Essentially, for some mechanics talk, Aishella is proposing a group Strength check for however many participate, hopefully with a lesser degree of difficulty due to the block and tackle, possibly with advantage for multiple people working together, and she will apply Guidance to the strongest participant in the effort to add +1d4 to their check. That's about all I can think of to make the task as manageable as possible.))

Having met the rest of the town, Olwer stood under the lamp post in the middle of town deciding where was the best place to find the next piece of information.
If Olwer can get the name of the vanished arson suspect, he will. Likewise, he will ask the polite woman if she knows the name of that 'fake smith.' He doesn't order any arrowheads, but he suggests he's considering buying a dagger. "Can't hurt to have a spare, right?"
After checking out the shops, Olwer leans against the lamp post to rest a moment, doing his best weary traveler impression while he takes a moment to gaze up and down the street and at the spaces between houses and shops. He does not linger long.
Returning to the abandoned house at the end of the road, he enters and looks around for something with which to write. The woman left a note...
If he finds paper and pen, he will make out a list of everyone he has met so far in town (not in his party) with professions, residences, one or two words of physical description, and other information next to the names.
He takes a meal from his rations bag --unless there's some food left in the house that looks good to eat.
If the warrior, Tyriel, is present, Olwer asks him if he's eaten lunch already.
Irenia receives an interesting response when shes asks, "where would I find the Tavern keep?"
The guard immediately began to replay, "Probably sleeping with the Banker's Wi---" but was cut off by his captain who informs you that they are not in the business of spreading rumors. The tavern keep should be coming into town soon as he was going to speak with the Alchemist who currently talking to the druid. The druid has business every day at 5 pm so it will be no later than that.
Olwer has a blade designed and drawn, which the smith says should take a day. Come back tomorrow and it will be done. She can tell you her name is Holly, and the fake smith's name is Tyler. She does not know the name of the rich man. He then makes his way back to Tyriel and takes the note as intended with some ink and paper.
Aishela essentially looks for any of the Investigators still in town, and relates the find of the cellar in the tavern, as noted above, suggesting they wait until they have a number of them, including at least one of the stronger investigators, Genesh or Tyriel, before they attempt to remove the rubble.
She will also inquire what they have learned, and if Irenia shares the information on the Tavern Keep, would agree, "That's definitely someone we should talk to. The possible amorous relationship with the Banker's wife is something we should note, and I would be very curious what business a Tavern Keep, and Alchemist, and a Druid might have together. Sounds like one of those stupid jokes that always make me roll my eyes. 'An Alchemist, a Druid and a Banker walk into a tavern,' and so on. In any case, there should be time to investigate the tavern further before the Tavern Keep returns."
“ the druid? In the Forest!”The guard was able to slip out before the captain slapped the man firmly on the shoulder. He chastised him for wasting Irenia's time and assigned him to guard the ash pile until the end of shift (11pm). The guard complained about the rain to come, and the captain suggested maybe he should take his job more seriously next time.
The captain did confirm, however, that the druid was indeed in the South forest, but he was investigating a disturbance. The alchemist and druid gather herbs and mushrooms in that area frequently, but large, misshapen tracks have been spotted all week.
(3PM) Over the hour of exploring, Genesh and Elisha manage to spot several unnaturally bent hooves from an unnaturally large deer. The low bleat of the enormous Goat-stag followed, rumbling across the forest silence at every possible suggestion of it having disappeared. It was a constant, unending vigilance that was impossible to source. So too did they find human tracks, but they were leading back into town.
Olwer leaves back for town, the vigilant Tyriel in a state of contemplation. He had seen a few people pass at this point, and many strange and interesting sights. The old lady who smelled like Rosemary. An old man who was dressed in leaves. A turtle that walked on two legs. Today was a strange day indeed.
(4PM) As Genesh and Elisha make their way back into town, they make contact with one half of the tracks. The smaller ones, made by an elderly woman who smelt of rosemary, easily spotted nearing the beginning of the cleared but unpaved path toward town. She is the town alchemist and explains that she has been investigating a strange creature. You all share a brief look and leave the forest.
Olwer went back to the bankers shop. The two smiths had nothing to say and the alchemist hadn't quiet made it back yet. The guard captain was pleasant enough but had no time to socialize. The banker, on the other hand, was actually quiet welcoming this time around. He says his name is Jack and he originally started as a solider with a natural affinity for working with Dwarves. Eventually, they bonded over a mutual love of precious gems, and the Dwarves made him a rare expert to human settlements just through causal discussions that would last hours. He is enthralled when you tell him of what the harbor has become, how bustling its been. The investor often speaks of this town and never of far away. “Eyes on the future! Here is where you must be thinking, and tomorrow is what you must plan for.” he would say. The conversation between Olwer and him lasting well into the evening sun.
((I have to log off for the day, having some home issues and it may be hectic over the next few days, so if posts slow that will be why. When things break they all break at once. Apologies in advance for any delays.))
Irenia will begin searching for the others. She will focus on finding Genesh and Elisha. When she finds them, she explains the tavern owner was seen visiting the druid who is likely in the forest.

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Elisha will inquire about the strange creature the alchemist is talking about and also if she knows anything about the fire. Saying: "Would you mind if I walk with you back to town and maybe you could tell me about the strange creature?"
Genesh will follow close behind the old woman and Elisha remaining silent for the moment letting his companion handle all the talking for now as tortle listens attentively.
(3:30-4:00 PM) Irenia searched for Genesh, Elisha, and the Alchemist but found them to still be missing. She waited by the lamppost and was subject to overhearing Olwer's conversation with the banker, Jack.
(4:00-4:30) Irenia listned to Olwer. Aishela waited for Irenia. Olwer spoke to Jack. Tyriel waited in thought watching Elish, the old lady who smelled like rosemary and the walking turtle pass by. He contemplated the setting sun.
(4:00-4:30 PM) Elisha and the Alchemist walk into town having a discussion about the creature while Genesh follows behind, diligently listening. She speaks of an old legend here in the Drow Hollow of an elf settlement that was the first in this land. The town was built over top of it, but the understanding was the settlement had been abandoned. Considering the trees here seem to die every winter and come back every spring, it was odd. The place seemed naturally hardy, like the mystic forces within the ground flowed freely into the environment. So why would the elves want to leave? The alchemist hypothesizes that the aspect of starvation is wandering the forest, as in the Spring, the aspect of growth wanders the trees and by summer the aspect of abundance flows down the river. It has, however, never physically manifested in recorded times like the others, and is said only to appear in times of coming misfortune.
(4:45-4:49 PM) Elisha, Genesh, and the Alchemist go inside the Alchemists shop with Irenia and Aisehla following closely behind. The shop wasn't even locked, could have walked right in but nobody tried the door. You all follow her in anyway and look around to see an abundance of glassware, curated herbs, preserved mushrooms and all other varieties and kinds of alchemical work. Distracted, you don't see her walk upstairs and grab someone. One set of boots up the stairs and two come down. The alchemist introduces the Tavern keeper, who has agreed to rent the top room while she sleeps in the basement. “The rent doesn't pay itself, nobody buys potions everyday, and he needs a bed.” The old woman who smelt of rosemary humbly admitted.
The tavern keep briefly interjects that nothing fishy is going on between the two, and he plans to move out the second the builders he hired can fix the damage. The alchemist makes an uncomfortable joke and the Tavern keep gets embarrassed.
(5:00 PM) Sundown, its now dark and Tyriel can hear things walking in the woods within minutes of the orange glow leaving the cold valley.
Elisha will ask the Alchemist: "So is the old Elf settlement where the town got it's name...Old Drow Hollow? Where the first Elf's that settled here Drow and not Wood Elf's? If so there has to be an entrance to the Underdark near by. If that is the case maybe that is where the creature you told me about originated."
The tortle found the old woman's tale of something of the town extremely fascinating and might go a long way to helping them find the answers they are seeking. As the conversation continued Genesh would have smiled if he was physically capable when the tavern keeper felt the need to proclaim that nothing fishy was going on between himself and the Alchemist, the tortle looked at the man and asked, "well why not, the lady seems rather fetching and she has such a pleasing and delightful scent of rosemary about her?" At least being unable to smile... or frown Genesh found it amusing to say such outrageous things since keeping a straight face came naturally.
Genesh nods silently as Elisha asked a most excellent question and looked to the Alchemist waiting for her response.
Later on, when an opportunity presented itself Genesh would pull out the Pike's Pearl he had found to show it to the Alchemist as well as explain how he had come by it then he asked, "have you ever seen or heard of one these? I've been told they are highly prized by druids but not the reason why? I was hoping that a wise woman like yourself might be able to elaborate."
