Cinnaess shakes her head to Wolfsong; she did not get a name yet.
Robwin hears from the south door, the goblin-ease. Amidst the laughter of two entities they are apparently giving commands to others. "Stand on your head" "Lick the floor." "Sing like the caged one." each command is followed by laughter or a horribly out of tune singing, also in goblin-ease.
It seems the folk in that room are of no concern as you head through the north door.
The creature giggles within Rinn's mind. "Is it [gibberish] ... is it broken?" The words expose a hint of amusement and curiosity. Never in its existence has it succeeded at a weirding and learned so little. Here before it was a literal teenage Elf. Not a human or Half-Elf; not a hundred or hundred fifty year old on his first independent adventure. Yet, beyond bannal facts and a nonsensical answer it had gained nothing.
"Is it searching for something?"
Rinn roll a wisdom save.

Rinn smirks, "Always. Riches, new magicks, anything of value really. Who isn't? I mean, aren't you searching for something after all?"
(( a strange magical insight that allows them to extract knowledge from other creatures - yup, yup, yup ... [ secret ] as an Elf, Rinn is immune from other effects [/ secret ] ))
The creature begins nodding maniacally. Rinn hears, "Yes! Yes! Yes! Food. Frolk. Magic! Gems! .. gibberish .. Places of power. Old; New; .. giggling .. here I guard ... trade ... gibberish ... You're very young ... still dreaming? still remembering? ... what to trade?" (( No, weirding this time. The creature seems very excited. ))
You hear faint bubbling and dripping sounds coming from the room; very reminiscent of the labs at university. A key in the ring you acquired is explicitly marked for this door. You don’t see anything in way of trap or alarm.
A wave of nostalgia washes over Robwin as he hears the sounds of a laboratory through the door. Maybe he’ll find something inside to further his studies! He grabs out the keys, and if there are no objections, he unlocks and opens the door once everyone is in place...
The room appears to be a wizard’s workshop. A rat scurries across the floor and takes refuge under a large worktable set up with alembics, retorts, distillation coils, and other alchemical devices, all of it stewing and bubbling away. Bookshelves are crowded with sheaves of parchment and strange-looking tomes. The room is twenty feet by twenty feet. The books, shelves and working bench is along the west wall. The large table is in the center of the room.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Robwin’s face is a mix of delight and awe... “By the gods... promise me, once the villagers are safe, we come back here! There is so much I could learn from this room!...”.
He calls Lia in, “Lia!... Lia, help me! You know the kind of things, keep your eyes peeled for anything that looks useful around here”. With Lia’s ‘help’, Robwin does a quick investigation of the room to try and spot anything that immediately jumps out that could be useful: spell books, scrolls, potions, anything!
Investigation check: 24((advantage due to Lia’s help? If not, just use first roll))

Rinn taps a finger to his chin as he considers what the creature has said. "Well, food I have... and perhaps something else that might be of interest. What do you offer in trade? And why are you guarding here? Are you working with the redbands?"
The creature chuckles, "No, no, no. Was here first. Found vain of power in the crevasse. Magic stone. Wizard came later; recently? Traded watching tunnel for food; good meat. Trade spells. Doesn't understand stones. shhh; shhh; shhh; Now Redbrands; yes? Now they go in and out ... out and in ... still give meat. laughing ... giglles ... giberish ... few trade; the rat trades sometimes. They will go too someday. I'll be here. I'll still trade."
Rinn tilts his head, "Silly Redbrands, huh? So what does the magic stone do? And what else do you trade? I mean, I have food, but is there anything else you want?"

One of the first things Lia focuses on is the Rat under the main table. Another fairy familiar apparently.
Robwin softly falls to his knees and peers cheerfully under the table. “Oh hello! Another familiar are you?! Can you understand me? Where’s your master?...”.
He fishes out a little portion of his rations from his pack and throws a few morsels the rats way...
The creature pulls back into the shadows but stays active in your mind. "Stone holds weave. Very useful. Have meat. Useless weapons. Useful weapons. Pretty gems. Lots of things. What you want to trade? Laughing You want to learn spell? Maybe, you bring me wizard staff? Gibberish. I trade with you."

Robwin: The rat watches you a moment rising on its back haunches and tilting its head. Then it shrugs its shoulders, sighs and nods.

It seems the folk in that room are of no concern as you head through the north door.
This north door leads into another hall with a staircase going east back toward the cavern and another closed door directly in front of you.
(( Try the door, go up the stairs or go back the way you came.))

I'm assuming a quick glance and you'll investigate them more later.
One book is mostly blank; a journal perhaps. Not in a language you understand; pre-comprehend spell.
One is a basics of Thorasta (Common) and one is essentially a fundamentals in accounting and finances.

Robwin sees the stairs back through to where the cavern would be, but points at the north door instead, silently asking Wolfsong, “Try here next??”.
Robwin will get close to the door and listen for anything on the other side...
Perception check: 15
And while he’s there he’ll inspect the door for anything unusual or any traps...
Investigation check: 21
