Eline, placing a hand on TT's shoulder, says, "I think Rinn's right on this. We should hunt down and burn out those animated fiends as soon as possible, moreso even given their potency."
She looks toward Wolfsong and Robwin, "Do we continue? The tunnels look big enough for as far as I could see. The vermin would have an advantage on us if they serge up from below while we're going down. The other tunnels were wider and less vertical."
Among the tombs and scrolls... you find a large, thick tomb that appears to suggest it contains the secrets to gain the shapeshifting powers of the mimic... a strange scroll you cannot decipher...
Robwin has no need for weapons and armour. But he would make sure they gather up the book and the scroll (above). He would say to Rinn, “Yes that one does look up your street!”, in relation to the mimic book. And if he can use it, or learn it, he’s happy for him to try. If Rinn can’t use it, Robwin would take a look though.
Robwin would also try to decipher the scroll when they have time. He would hold onto it for now.
He would then suggest, “We could always rest here and continue in the morning… I have a spell I haven’t used yet… it creates an impenetrable dome of magic where we might rest for eight hours. We would be quite safe!…”. He waits for thoughts.
Robwin continues, “Either way, I have the spell prepared should we need it…”.
”Ugh, what’s the time? It must be quite late?…We could venture on for a while longer, or I can set up the protective dome here so we can rest up…”.
((@DM: any detriment to carrying on? Con checks or anything? And what are the choices for proceeding on? Is it just move to the next floor down or are there other areas still to explore? Thanks)).
"I'd rather not crawl down a ghoul hole," Rinn says with a little shudder. "Happy to chase them around otherwise, but I don't see that as the best way of tracking them. Well... safest."
“The alarm is a free ‘ritual’, takes 10 minutes to cast, and lasts eight hours…. The webs require casting a spell, require my full concentration, and last an hour…”, says Robwin, like a man reeling off the boring specifications of their latest racing-cart.
Rinn shrugs again, "Well, the alarm is useful. But are you sure you want to wear yourself out concentrating on the web if we can keep going for another couple of hours?"
While Robwin is casting, TT points out some Heavy Crossbow equipment in the southwest corner of the armory.
"Then we are going down to the Mezzanine?", Eline asks Rinn and as she is trying to organize two crossbow bolt cases full of bolts and a Heavy Crossbow on her person after having dusted them off.
"I understand the heavy war picks and hammers. When do you think Dwarfs came to be proficient in the Axe, Crossbow and bolista? You don't see a bow in here anywhere. And there really isn't much made of wood. Granted it could be a long time adaptation from commerce but then wouldn't you pull in more materials and adaptation?"
It's not clear if she's actually addressing Rinn, TT, Wolfsong or just lost in her own thoughts.
When Robwin finishes the alarm spell, he regroups with the rest of the part, “Okay, that should alert me as soon as anything comes back up those tunnels…. … Right, should we make our way to the next level down?”. He starts that way, assuming everyone is ready.
((( Cough, cough, just clearing my throat... Happy F.th-r's Day... I like to think TT is silently worrying over Rinn with his new aberrant dagger and Robwin’s stranger jitteriness... maybe he's as concerned about the atmosphere of mystic corruption as she is?... She's trying to keep an eye out everywhere for undead or arachnid while genuinely disturbed by Cleaver's presence and the strange killer (or hunter?) pact it and Wolfsong have... and the periodic clink or grind of a portion of armor not padded correctly from Eline reminds her vividly she bearly knows any of these people who she's been diligently fighting with for weeks? Or days in Eline's case. Would they continue working in the area and with each other? )))
((( Eline noticing the clanking of her armor and rattling of the crossbow gear she picked up is wondering when she'll have enough breathing space to get some decent repairs... Are Norman and Tomi alright? Tomi seemed to click with that Ironrune was it?... They said they really needed that water... this excavation lot said a group would get supplies to them but really? They fought giant arachnid, took on a horde of Daraktan, found a gravid ghoul or ghast.... and the shifter, dragon breath mage, and Manticore!! Eerly and Sutton will never believe this... if they survive long enough to get out of this keep and back to Neverwinter. Still, the battles have been glorious and the last three days beyond imagining... and the shifter and sneak both mentioned a dragon... really... )))
As the party descends the east staircase to the Mezzanine they begin looking around. While the middle of the mezzanine to their right (west) is split off by the gauntlet leading to and past the portcullis the east side is a long open hall with doors on the east wall. Given the expanse of the main hall above and below, each of these rooms must be twice as wide square as those they've already searched.
Robwin, for one, is ready to progress before the day gets any longer. Some of his jitteriness has fallen away, now that he’s focussing on the task at hand, but in moments of quiet or when he’s alone, he is back to muttering the beginnings of protective spells, just to be ready for anything…

At this point the party could probably go another four hours before a long rest would be needed to avoid con checks against exhaustion.
The party could travers the ghoul tunnel going down or go explore the mezzanine level.
Wolfsong, Rinn and Robwin are the party PCs.
Cleaver, TT and Eline are party support NPCs. ))
"I'd rather not crawl down a ghoul hole," Rinn says with a little shudder. "Happy to chase them around otherwise, but I don't see that as the best way of tracking them. Well... safest."
Robwin peers into the ghoul tunnel ((tunnels?)), “Hmm… Well… …”.
”With a little time, I could set an alarm across this tunnel, to alert us if anything comes back up…”.
”I could also, at the same time, fill the mouth of the tunnel with twenty feet or so of thick web…”.
”We would know if anything was coming… It would likely have a hard time getting through the web, and we can then get back, ‘to deal with it’…”
”We could even light the web on fire if anything is still stuck in it!?…”.
”Take about 10 minutes for the ritual… then we could explore the mezzanine and beyond, first??… come back here at our leisure… …”.
Robwin says all this confidently, as if it’s a decent plan… but his face says he’s still weighing it up. He waits for thoughts…

Robwin nods, “Alarm is a no brainier… but let’s leave the webs for now”.
He gets to work on the ritual for alarm and sets up a mental alert across the tunnels entrances.
