You successfully get the door open. This small northern room appears to have been a workspace. There are remnants of polish, paint, lacquer, and other finishings. The room is heavily damaged.
On the worktable in the southeast corner of the room are a mace and a breastplate.
There is another badly damaged iron door next to the worktable that would lead south to an adjacent room.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Silenus looks at the mace and breastplate. The armor doesn't interest him too much, but if it's in good condition it might be worth something. And he does like weapons so he gives the mace a good look to see what kind of quality it is.
Once done with those, Silenus waves over at the damaged door.
"What was going on here that damaged those doors?" he wonders, then calls over to Rinn. "GIve me a hand, dude?"
Athletics: 25 (second roll for advantage if Rinn's allowed to help : 8 )
"I'm not sure. Maybe there was a fight? Or maybe someone wanted something kept out... or in?" Rinn shrugs then gives Silenus a hand to open the next door.
You wrench the door open revealing a large workshop was badly damaged. Worktables take up two corners of the room are scorched, and the plaster has burned off the masonry walls. In the middle of the room, a stone pedestal holds a small brazier in which an eerie green flame dances and crackles. The brazier and its pedestal appear to have been untouched by the forces that destroyed this area.
Behind the brazier of green flames floats a spherical creature measuring roughly four feet in diameter. Four eyestalks protrude from its central mass, two on each side. In the center of the body is a large eye that stares at you. It greets you in a raspy voice you hear only in your head.
Silenus looks at the floating creature and inwardly winces a little. That's not a pleasant sight.
"Hey floating eye dude," Silenus begins. "We're looking for a spell forge. Heard it might be around this way. Any chance you've, like seen it, with all those eyes."
The four eye stocks bend to look at the stone pedestal holding the small brazier of eerie green flames.
In your heads you hear, "It seems in fine condition. What orders do we have?"
Jasmine giggles a bit, quietly in Sylvan she says, "Well, I certainly understand its common better than most. Do you think that is from its speaking in our heads?"
The two dwarfs have pulled back against the door.
(( Is Rinn next to Jasmine and Silenus, next to the dwarfs, or slightly behind everyone? ))
Silenus wonders what it mean by orders. This multi-eye dude works for someone then, he muses to himself. And it doesn't know that Silenus, Rinn and the others aren't part of that group.
"Hey yeah, so the boss is totally, like changing their mind about things. He just wants you to like, tell us how it works. Then you head over to meet them at the gnarly wave cave."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(( Rinn would probably be next to Jasmine, or back a little bit, but still inside the room. ))
Rinn is busy taking in the room, looking around to see what lays about on the worktables and floor, and to look for any traps or enemies lying in wait (Perception: 23).
The head spins, the large eye staying focused on you, Silenus. "Oh! Now, I'm to train the apprentices as well? Two Faywild, two doppelganger, and a very young high elf?!" ((deep sigh)) "Well, it is what it is. The master said that often."
"I assume you have a rudimentary understanding of smiting and enchanting, right? Of course. Now, once an item is prepared, inscribed with the desired runes, lackers, paints, and what have you, it is seared within the flame. Of course, moving the brazier will disrupt the flame, the power, the chain, so, obviously, do not disturb the brazier."
Silenus looks from the floating eye to the two dwarves. Elf, couple of fey, and two dopplegangers. Hmm. He tries to make eye contact with Rinn, and glances again at the dwarves.
"I can smite with the best of them dude," Silenus says. "So how about this axe then."
Hearing the being mention doppelgangers, and having just dealt with some previously, Rinn catches the mention and sees Silenus' look.
"Uh, apologies, oh wise teacher. I am very excited to learn how to use this exquisite device," Rinn makes an awkward apologetic motion, "But perhaps it would be best if we confer as a group as to what we should infuse first. I mean, we'd hate to make a silly choice straight off the bat and regret it. The master would definitely not approve. A moment, if you please? We'll just be outside." He gives a flourishing bow, a beaming smile, and ushers everyone just out the door.
"Well feck'n hells. You too?", says the quiet one to the other as Rinn ushers everyone into the small workshop.
"Look, look.", says the more talkative one. "We just thought to escape. We were dealing with these undead and horrors for many a ten day now. The one I took, the dwarf, he was already dieing. Those psionic wielding goblin had badly abused them."
"And I took one ages ago. Only I didn't remember. It happens sometimes. I was with a party that got caught between those goblin with the black spider and a tribe of wererat. That other fellow back at the base, has to be dwarf, he was torched so much by that spider fellow, I'm sure he would have changed by now."
"So, hear we are. Running would just get us killed. And fighting might bring the same. But what do you want?"

Rinn, loving a mystery, is a little dubious. But without the ability to truly investigate what they're saying, he watches them carefully as they talk, trying to get a sense of what they're saying is true or not (Insight - not my best skill, so here goes: 20).
(( What are Rinn and Silenus doing? They are just inside the small workshop just outside the spell fordge room. They are facing two doppelganger presenting as dwarf who will fight if they have to, but honestly just want to get out of this entire situation. Jasmine is there on the sidelines unsure of any of this. Just inside the spell forge room is a hovering eye waiting to train a group of acolytes (y'all), under the delusional belief that the entire mine is operating normally despite the blatantly apparent damage and depreciation all around it. ))

Silenus looks at the door, walks over to it and opens it to see what's on the other side.

The iron door is badly damaged.
Silenus leans into the door to give it a bit more pressure.

Silenus hefts his great axe.

Silenus listens for a bit, his usual trusting self taking what the ‘dwarves’ say at face value.
”Don’t stab us and we won’t stab you. Let’s just figure out what floaty eyeball dude knows and get him or her or whatever to leave.”

(As far as you can tell, Rinn, they are being genuine.)
((I rolled an 18 on their persuasion check.))
