The wolves bob in place, panting with tongues out, eyes wide and tails wagging. They were obviously very excited that they rounded you up and lead you all to where you wanted to go, successfully to boot! They pinged with even more pride when Mr. Dark 'showered' them with praise. Completely oblivious to any other peoples reactions, they happily follow Dark wherever he decides to lead them. Once escorted out of the city, they'd look at him expectantly with their delightfully dopey faces. Then he leaves.
The twins exchange a look. Then once Mr. Dark crossed the threshold back into Phandalin, they'd prance their way back into town from their distance. He didn't say stay! They park their butts in the shadows of the stables to watch Dark enter the inn. A raven then perches itself on top of the sign. One of the wolves stops licking his nose when the other bumps him. They both stare blankly up at it and watch it.
Just as most of the group filed into Stonehill Inn, a woman exits a house. She looks around, pinked cheeked and fixes her disheveled hair as she tries to step away.
Woof!
Both wolves break their stare with the raven to pounce the woman. She starts giggling as they maul her with kisses. "Okay! Okay! Yes! It's nice to see you too. Castor. Pollux." It was Nova. "Oh my gods you two are the worst." She chuckles trying to calm them down, but she smelled like peanut butter. "Yes! I know I'm late!" The druid would give the wolves belly rubs until they melted into calm puddles. "I'm going right now!" It was the only way to distract them from her. "Be good!" She'd command them before rushing off towards the farms.
With twitching legs, the wolves lay there for a moment before they start rolling and playing in the dirt, kicking up a big dust pile. Once nice and dirty, they'd pop back up to their feet and move to snoop around the inn to see if there's a window or something they can peep in to creep their people and peopledragons.
Inside Stonehill Inn, a familiar grumpy dwarf sits at a table in the corner. His arms were crossed and he was already grumbling something into his beard. It was the one, the only, Norbus.
"Brunch is served!" Chimes a familiar voice. Out pops the peppy Darwyn, holding up two hefty plates of food, scurrying his way to his partner. "Any signs yet?" He hums, delivering the platter to Norbus before climbing into a seat of his own. "Are we getting stood up? You think they forgot? Do you think they ran off with the gold?"
All Darwyn would get in response is the squinted stink eye. "Coffee." He grunts, desperately wanting some go go juice. It was too early for so many questions.
Mr. Dark approaches and grabs a table next to them. "Apologies for our delay sir, we ran into a bit a problem. Nothing our in-house negotiator Marblebeard here couldn't handle though. I believe we had an accord for 50% of the treasure plus those two sending stones for us, and 50% of the treasure for you. I'm not strong on math or anythin, so...maybe you should check my totals..."
He hands a tabulation over to the table with the dwarves as he begins pulling treasure bits out of his bag.

“Stop talking gold and use some of it to buy a round already,” Kaemgen suggests, taking a seat near the dwarves. “I think we can all agree on that much, at least…”
The nitty gritty of deals and payments and such annoyed Kaemgen. His noble upbringing likely rearing it’s head - he was used to there being people to take care of the particulars. Then again, trusting others to take care of the money is at least partly why his family was in the straits they were.
“Was it 50/50 between groups we agreed to? Or people? Seems we all risked our necks equally and should each get an equal portion… I did think that was the spirit of our arrangement.”
Mr.Dark glances over at him, a grin on his face, "So.....from the guy who has money problems.....you want to split the gold between 7 people....50/50?" He lets out a joyful laugh, then raises his hand, "Bar keep, can we get a round of drinks please? And maybe some snacks? I haven't eaten since this morning." He sets aside 5 gold at the side of the table. Mr.Dark then raises a hand at Kaemgan to forestall his response, and nods knowingly. "Yes yes, I know what you meant." He frowns and glances between Kaemgan, Auric, and the dwarves. "Our friend here is suggesting that we agreed to a 7 way split, not a split of 50/50 between each group. Auric, uh, good sirs, is this what you thought you were agreeing to?"

Kaemgen is not big on being forestalled. His mood visibly darkens and his eyes narrow and he leans a bit toward Mr.Dark. "Try to use me for your asinine humor again... Talk about my personal problems in front of strangers again... And you and me will have a little go around," Kaemgen says and then puts an obviously fake smile upon his face. He then leans back as if he didn't have a care in the world. "Work these finances out however you wish. The coinage you carry is not a dent in the fortunes I seek. I merely spoke my understanding... But so long as the ale is paid for, do as you wish."
Standing, Kaemgen stretches out a kink in his back and then intercepts the waitress and grabs one of the mugs off their tray before going to stand in the doorway and look out upon the street... And horizons far beyond. Yes, a quiet life would be most acceptable, Kaemgen thought. People are annoyances best avoided.
The red headed bubbly bartender was bouncing her way over with a full tray of requested beverages. Still a bit clumsy, some of the mugs were overfilled and spilling a little over the edges as she rushed to try to meet the demands of the patrons when one of them would swipe a mug unexpectedly. It’d throw off the balance of her tray, causing her to wobble and almost fumble it. “Eep.” After a little whimper and a funky maneuver with her arm, she manages to save it before spilling it all over the polite Dragonborn. Immediately she gives him an apologetic look, offering him first pick of the mugs before handing them all out to the rest. “H-Here you are…”
Norbus grumbles, accepting his mug. He’d immediately start downing it, chugging it back in one long large gulp. Some foam would stick to his beard and moustache when he’d slam the mug down with an accompanying belch before grabbing another tankard.
”Thank you dear.” Darwyn would politely accept the mug with the most spilled. After a little sip, he’d address Dark. “As stated back in the ruins, we suggest to have Halia appraise the gems if you’d like. For simplicity sake, how about this…” His voice was calm. “Split it 6 ways, Norbus and I count as 1. You each take a gem and we will take the tankard. Your friend can have the mirror.” The cleric would then gingerly place the pair of sending stones on the table. “As promised.”
Mr.Dark smiles at Kaemgan's outburst, a smile full of mirth and says, "Any time ya want bub. I'm right here."
He watches the drinks get served by the redhead, patiently waiting as she stumbles through her routine. Then, turning back to the dwarf, "Well, that's quite generous. Alrighty then. That's 103 gold each worth of goods. Hansel keeps the mirror, the dwarves get the fancy tankard, and we all get a gem each. And these two talkin stones. A worthwhile exchange all 'round." He splits up all the coins and passes things around so it all adds up.
(everyone gets 103 gp worth of goods each, plus 1 gem)
Then he grabs one of the stones, and then flips the other one to Kaemgan, "There, if you want to insult a lowly ex-soldier, you can now do it from anywhere in the world, once a day."
He sits back, grabbing some a beer, and takes a long drink.

Kaemgen continues looking out the door to the street and beyond, ignoring the commentary from inside. He could have the last word if he wanted it so badly. Later when the stone is flipped in his direction Kaemgen allows it to land wherever it will. If he thinks I've spoken insults of him he's obviously delusional, he thinks. Mad men and rabid dogs, both are best kept an eye on... from a distance.
“Indeed, quite generous,” says Auric to Darwyn, taking his share.
“Let us indeed proceed to Halla to appraise these fine gems one the libations are consumed,” suggests Auric, though he sticks to water this early in the day.

The bartender swings back with something to eat for the ex-soldier. She'd go to tiptoe away, but then stop abruptly. Doubling back with a sheepish grin, she reaches over to grab the coins she almost forgot. "I'd forget my own head if it wasn't attached..." Of course, she fumbles to pick them up, unable to get a grip on one the coins as one struggles too at the worst of times. "Am I right? Heh..." Finally she'd catch it, pulling it into her palm and then excuses herself.
As Kaemgen moves to watch out a window near the door, he can see clearly into the street. There's the average hustle and bustle of a waking community settling into their morning routines. All the shops were open, including Halia's. Indeed there was something soothing about seeing them about their comfortable and seemingly carefree lives. One could almost see the balanced flow to a quieter and slower pace of the country life.
Bonk. Squish. Slurp. Slurp.
First, what appears to be one nose, smooshes itself against the corner of the glass nearest Kaemgen. The snout pushes up to reveal a row of teeth. A second one boops the glass beside and then starts licking the glass. Panting breath and flaring nostrils fog the view on and off.
"For all your trouble. We wish to keep you in good graces." Darwyn bows his head respectfully. "Some almost perished and you came all the way back here to honour your word. Thank you."
Caw! Woof! Woof woof woof!
Noses disappear from the window and a black bird flies by the window by Kaemgen.
Kaemgen smiles at the return of their... What were they, exactly? Guides? He is about to step outside and say "Hello" to them again but just as the decision is made they are gone, and the black bird flies by. That puts a pause into Kaemgen's mind. He wasn't sure what he believed about that bird, if anything... Still and all, cannot be afraid of a bird. And with that, Kaemgen moved from his position and went to the door to step outside, careful to step over and not disturb the sending stone sitting upon the floor.
Outside in the air, Kaemgen looked around for the animals. If they were sticking around, he may as well get better acquainted with them.
Outside, Kaemgen would find the pair had been sniffing around the Shrine when they'd perk at the sound the man exiting the inn and heading their way. Both look at him as if caught doing something they shouldn't have. Then both jolt, bouncing to meet him halfway. They indeed were twin Dire Wolves. Upon closer inspection, and having them around for some time, it was safe to say they weren't druids like Nova. Both were very much wild, yet partially tamed? Completely full grown, but have a sense of eternal puppy about them. They sure shoved their snouts places to check their scents upon arrival, getting a better sniff than this morning. Satisfied with properly befriending the noble and confirming Adabra's smell, they plop their rumps and stare up at Kaemgen with their dopey expressions. Tails wag.
Mr.Dark watches as Kaemgan goes outside, and then goes and grabs the stone off the floor. He hands it to Auric, "Well, you want to hold onto this then, in case we need to communicate?"
Then he goes back to enjoying his food and drink with the others. He flips his coin in the air occasionally with a "tiiing" sound.
After a while, once everything is well and done, he says to the others, "Well, shall we gather our guides outside and then go off on our last task to warn.....some gnomes was it? Our grumpy friend out there seems eager to head off."

Kaemgen plays with the wolfies, hunching down and playing at their level. Nothing makes a grown man a kid again like a couple of puppies to play with. Even if none are really quite young enough to be a pup anymore.
"What are you two doing here?" Kaemgen would ask while playfully pushing and petting and rough housing with the pair. He didn't expect an answer, but he also didn't NOT expect an answer. "You two coming along with us? Or should we be coming along with you two??"
Picking up the sending stone, Auric looks at it curiously. He says, "If thou thinkest it wise, Master Dark, I will take one of these magical stones. Before we visit the gnomes, let us get these gems appraised by the Lady Halla and perhaps see if any of our companions wish to resupply in town."

Inside As the group discussed their next steps and prepared to make their decision, a bright amulet pinned to Darwyn would begin to flicker. "It appears my faith was misplaced." he'd say a bit somberly. Once light, now dark. White, silver and blue now black, grey and no hue.
"Ahahaha! I tol' ya!" Noticing, Norbus would guffaw in glee.
The cleric would lift his mug and quietly chug it back before placing it back onto the table. "If you'll excuse me, I have some business to attend to."
As Darwyn exits the Inn, Norbus' whistling was carefree as he'd sweep all of the funds Mr. Dark would portion out for him and Darwyn his way. "Uptight stubborn elf not comin' 'fterall." He'd mutter under his breath. "Wee, more fer me!" He hums to himself, pocketing all the coin. "Well off ya go then. Go warn ya gnomies." The dwarf shoos you off. "Our business is done here."
(To confirm: Is the group heading to Halia's or out for Gnomengarde?)
Outside Now that they were getting showered with attention, the wolves would get amped up. They'd play, and play, and play. Roughhousing all day. Waiting until Kaemgen was more tuckered and let his guard down, one would bounce to headbutt him off balance to fall back on his ass so the other could sit on his chest and pin him down. They'd both just stare at him with their excited dopey faces, letting Kaemgen try to ask his questions. Tails wagging with exuberance, their paws would interchangeably step in excitement all over his torso. Then they'd force sneezes, unnecessarily close to his face, to try to communicate. A woof and slobber face licks only followed.
Darwyn would exit Stonehill Inn and begin heading towards the Shrine. On his way over he'd notice Kaemgen and a pair of wolves. They'd see Darwyn. There'd be a pause from all parties, only brief enough to knowledge each other's existence. Then the cleric would dip his head as if tipping a hat, and would continue on his way.
(Xeno, Scott: You inside or you out? You doing anything?)
Xenophon will hang outside with Kaemgen and the wolves. "You know, after meetin' Nova I'm gonna have to double-check every wolf to see if it ain't gonna turn into a person."

As Darwyn scoops up the goods and prepares to leave, Mr.Dark is intrigued by the blinking brooch and asks, "What was all that about? Some problem with an elf then?"
Otherwise, once outside, he'd observe Kaemgan playing with the wolves which would make him smile in a relaxed way, then he would go briefly visit the shrine to Tymora, flicking his coin over and over as he crouches there saying a few quick prayers. That done he returns to the group. Auric's plan to get the gems appraised, check in with the Mayor, and then head out on their next mission seems fine to him. "We can also let the Mayor know we spotted the dragon."

"What are you two doing here?" Kaemgen would ask while playfully pushing and petting and rough housing with the pair. He didn't expect an answer, but he also didn't NOT expect an answer. "You two coming along with us? Or should we be coming along with you two??"
Auric:
Picking up the sending stone, Auric looks at it curiously. He says, "If thou thinkest it wise, Master Dark, I will take one of these magical stones. Before we visit the gnomes, let us get these gems appraised by the Lady Halla and perhaps see if any of our companions wish to resupply in town."

Inside
As the group discussed their next steps and prepared to make their decision, a bright amulet pinned to Darwyn would begin to flicker.
Outside
Now that they were getting showered with attention, the wolves would get amped up.
You doing anything?)
just an unstable unicorn.
Xenophon will hang outside with Kaemgen and the wolves. "You know, after meetin' Nova I'm gonna have to double-check every wolf to see if it ain't gonna turn into a person."

More
(Auric has already suggested we get the gems appraised at Halla's, and we should probably also see the mayor about getting paid for warning the dwarves and the healer. After that, we could pick up supplies if anyone needs them and head out to the gnomes...We do have a pretty nice map, if memory serves. That's just Auric's suggestion, though...What do the rest of you want to do?)
