Finishing wrestling and playing with the wolves for now, Kaemgen would prepare to join the others. “You two tagging along with us a while? Or you hanging around town looking for treats?” Kaemgen would ask his playmates, digging through his bag to pull out some dried meat from his rations to give them. “Well, I guess we’ll find out soon enough…”
To his more verbal companions, Kaemgen would point out that Adabra had said she’d already been warned before we arrived. “Could be done other group is running this same adventure..,” he’d say, half to himself. “Anyway, we likely won’t get paid for that job.”
“I’d like to see what kind of weapons they’ve for sale ‘round here. I’m feeling the need for something a bit heftier… I could do that while the rest of you do the other last minute items…”
((Looking to buy battleaxe & warhammer… and sell rapiers, his current two aren’t sentimental…))
Scott was with the group inside the inn, but seemed lost in thought and therefore said nothing. He snaps out of his stupor and follows the others out as he notices everyone heading out. (Fine with either course of action.)
"A most excellent idea, Mister Dark. Let us go see the mayor to inform him of our progress and collect our just recompense. From there we can visit Mistress Halla and determine the worth of these beautiful gems--the better to afford what wondrous items might abound in her mysterious shop," responds Auric, and he accompanies those who wish to join towards the Townmaster's Hall in search of Mayor Harbin Wester, though he does stop to peruse the postings outside just in case anything else of interest might have arrived recently.
Darwyn pauses without looking over to Mr. Dark, “Yes. It appears she won’t be making it.” And stays no longer.
“ ‘is colleague’s daughter was scheduled tah make an appearance teh ‘ssist wit ‘is research. Ya know, record, map, yadda, yadda, the excavation site… Af’er ‘er next job an’ all…” Norbus would bob his head along and make some hand gestures. “But lights out!” He’d chuckle. “Bet ‘im these job funds she dun make it…” The dwarf mutters on as he finishes pocketing his winnings. “Wit teh rumours an’ all though… We sure dodged a bullet last night thanks teh yehs! Lucky me!” He hops off his chair and gives Mr. Dark a genuine pat of thanks before sauntering off with a belch.
When Mr. Dark leaves the Inn and makes his way to the Shrine of Tymora, he’d find Darwyn there saying his own prayers. Dark would be provided with the space and time to pay his respects. If he were to glance around, a few raven feathers were scattered around, and if the wind blew the right wrong way. Was there was a smell? Perched nearby, a dishevelled raven would be preening his feathers.
After watching from their dark corner in the establishment, the hooded figure would leave the Inn after Mr. Dark. They’d stand quietly behind the onlookers outside, joining them in their spectating of the noble and the wolves. “She’s a peculiar one isn’t she?” The voice would muse. “Glad to see you managed successfully Xenophon.” They stood next to the Dragonborn.
Tilted heads and dopey blank expressions stare back at Kaemgen. He would round the rowdy wolves with snacks, successfully commanding their attention with the jerky. If he’d take his eyes off them for a moment, the twins would play tug-o-war with it. They’d ‘bloop’, pinging back to sitting if he’d give them a look or they’d lose their portion. The pair stand at attention while their snack dispenser talks to his people, but would pounce and step on his toes when he’d start with negative Nancy non sense to himself.
When ready, the group splits.
The twins bounce and bound, tugging Kaemgen along to the Lionshield Coaster. At this time Mr. Dark and Auric could begin their errands by following their companion and pups passed the merchant house and around the Townmaster’s Hall to the Mayor’s home.
“Stay!” Kaemgen says firmly, but warmly. “Most shopkeeps won’t take kindly to wolves marching into their place, no matter how much a good boy they are!” With that, Kaemgen will give each a good scratch behind the ear or under their jaw and then head inside the Lionshield Coaster… pausing to look back and make sure those two are behaving.
Inside he looks around the shop and checks out what they have on offer. He’s not expecting anything too fancy in an out of the way place like this but then again one never knows what they’ll find where they least expect it. He’ll explain to the owner or whoever is running the place that he’s working for the mayor, more or less, and looking to upgrade his weapons. “Rapiers are better for duels than dragon hunts,” he notes.
Scott does his best to shadow Kaemgen, he doesn’t really have any business in town of his own to take care of. But he did want to make sure that the group held up their end of the bargain with the dwarves.
(I started this one earlier at work before net crashed. Said f it. Now hot spotting to make this easier…)
Outside Stonehill Inn
The hooded figure would continue speaking for a moment, head facing the quiet Scott who seemed to take a curious interest in the wolves while they were around. “Those are two of Nova’s siblings. Castor and Pollux.” They’d pause briefly before continuing a short explanation, “Nova was essentially raised by wolves local to these forrests around Phandalin.” The figure would watch Marblebeard walk away with Kaemgen and the others.
They’d turn their attention back to Xeno who’d have to look down at them. A soft chuckle would leave their lips when the Dragonborn would provide his response. “Depends. Who do you think I am?” Moving from the safety of their cloak sleeves, the individual would reach up with hands blanketed in burn scars. Taking hold of their hood, they’d lower it, finally revealing their face. A human woman with a very fair complexion stares back up at you with vibrant violet eyes. She has jet black hair is braided off to the side, hints of her scaring were present on her shoulders and peppered along her neck. A polite smile rested on her face with a hint of a single dimple pinching into her cheek. “It’s good to see you are well Xeno.” It was Fae Blackcrow, the woman who asked you to look out for the others. “The dragon paid visit to the excavations last night.” She’d say matter-of-factly. “There was some concern when the group didn’t return with the dwarves.” Then a soft caw came from afar and that’s when the woman would lift an arm out. The raven would soar from the shrine an land on her outstretched forearm, perching itself with pride.

At Kaemgen’s sudden and abrupt command, the wolf duo immediately stopped what they were doing, adjusted themselves and sat at attention. At first there were looks of confusion with frequent blinking, but when he’d follow up with the explanation and scritches, the ‘shock’ was easily forgotten. This method was familiar! The two really wanted to follow, but they’d listen, even lay down when the man would turn back.
Kaemgen could safely enter the establishment with out much concern. The building is owned by the Lionshields, a merchant company based in the city of Yartar over a hundred miles to the east. The company ships finished goods to Phandalin and other small settlements throughout the region. The master of the Phandalin post is a sharp-tongued human woman named Linene Graywind.
Linen Greywind
The woman would approach the counter and eye the adventurer who entered. She’d listen to what he had to say prior to greeting him formally. “Good day. I’m Linen Greywind.” Linen would nod her head. “Well then.” A small smile piqued her lips when he decided he wanted to trade in his rapiers. “Fair enough. Let’s see what catches your eye, shall we?” She’d make a sweeping hand gesture towards her goods for him to begin browsing. Linene keeps a supply of armor and weapons, all of which are for sale to interested buyers.
Mayor’s House Auric (and Dark?) was thorough, sure to stop at the Townmaster’s Hall first. The job board was indeed empty and the Mayor Harbin Wester was not there, thus continuing the trek east to his home. The Dragonborn raps on the door, gently tipping at the Mayor’s door.
(Because really I wanted to…)
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more.”
…..
From: The Raven - Edgar Allen Poe
Presently his soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer, “Sir,” said he, “or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore; But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping, And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door, That I scarce was sure I heard you” still said he from behind the door.
Recognition flashes in Xenophon's eyes when Fae lowers her hood and reveals herself. "I was figurin' that it was you. I can't think of anyone else that would come out all the way here just to make sure that I was doin' okay. Thanks for the concern miss, we've been doin' just fine on our end."

Xeno Fae smiles to Xenophon and dips her head. "That's one part." She reaches into a pocket to take out a handful of snacks to offer her raven. "I'm keeping eye on things here while Garaele is away." She'd add.

After some silence, Fae would dip her head. "I'll see you around, Xeno." She'd excuse herself and head to Sister Garaele's beside the Shrine.
The wolves perked when commanded to come. Eyes immediately light up and both heads tilt in curiosity at the knotted rope. They'd exchange a look with each other when they'd realize the other was interested too. Immediately they'd both reach for an end to start tugging on. So caught up with their new toy, it was easy for Kaemgen to lead them along, albeit a little sloppy with some play snarls.
Mr. Dark and Auric depart from Harbin Wester's home to begin their short walk west towards the Miner's Exchange. The pair would meet up with Kaemgen and his entourage just outside the Lisonshield Coaster during their departure.
Continuing down the path and around a corner, those heading to the Miner's Exchange would be greeted by the familiar store front, door chime would ring upon entry. "'Scuse me darling, it appears we have some early risers." Halia's voice chimes from one end of the shop. "Breakfast will have to wait." The familiar blonde would emerge from behind her counter area. Smoothing out her dress, her eyes would light up and her smile would grow at the sight of the golden dragonborn returning.
A delighted hum would escape Halia's lips. "My, what a pleasant surprise." Her eyes would barely look away from Auric, though when they did, slight sadness would wash over her face. She'd approach Auric and look up at him as if slightly pained. "Sir Auric, has your charming companion perished?" One of her hands would find his chest, gently correcting something on his robes. "A terrible loss if so..." She'd let out a somber exhale, eyes drifting far away.
After a moment of silence, the businesswoman's eyes would flick back to Auric, then jump to the others one by one, then back to the dragonborn. "Now I can't imagine that to be a reason for you all to pay me a visit." She'd warm back up, dusting off his shoulder before back stepping away. "How may I be of assistance, gentlemen?" She'd purr as she'd prowl.
Kaemgen would linger outside the Miner's Exchange, not needing to further crowd the place, and allow the others to do the wheeling dealing. Outside he continues roughhousing with the wolves a bit as he considers the new cards and jobs.
"Have the gnome mission been completed by someone else then?" Kaemgen asks whoever is around. "Or is that still on our plate? From these new tasks, Butterskull Ranch seems the most urgent. The other two seem like tasks that can be delayed if need be..."

Glancing at the still closed door, he shrugs to the dragon born, "Alllllrighty then. I guess...that's that? Little strange, but.....what do I know? Not much."
Shaking his head, he picks up the sack of gold and turns to leave, ready to head to the gem place to have his treasure assessed.

Auric:
Shrugging, Auric says, "We have been compensated for our efforts and given new potential tasks, yet we have the gnomes yet to warn. Let us move on to our next errand, Mister Dark, and convey these new opportunities to our companions as the opportunity arises." He follows to Halla's.

"See you 'round, Fae." He gives her a little bow. Now where did the others get off to?

Kaemgen would linger outside the Miner's Exchange, not needing to further crowd the place, and allow the others to do the wheeling dealing. Outside he continues roughhousing with the wolves a bit as he considers the new cards and jobs.
"Have the gnome mission been completed by someone else then?" Kaemgen asks whoever is around. "Or is that still on our plate? From these new tasks, Butterskull Ranch seems the most urgent. The other two seem like tasks that can be delayed if need be..."
