((OOC: If it helps anyone, I believe Oak is in melee already with Narot? Since the last thing I said, was that he reached out to hold his shoulder.
Also, it kind of suits Oak to wait a little (until after the other PCs have acted, this round) ..if that’s ok?. That also more accurately reflects his poor initiative roll probably anyway! So I’ll try and slot in after Aimon, Caelynn, and Trill.
Trill have you already acted this round, with Vicious Mockery on Narot? Would our characters know whether that took effect or not somehow?
Also I was looking for an OOC stream for stuff like this but maybe we don’t have one. Have I missed it or is group private messages best for that, or is here okay? Thanks))
((Yeah, I wasn't sure how often I'd be able to check in, and that spell is always a good opener, especially when she'd have reasonable in character expectations of her crossbow being less than efficient.))

Why not, thinks Aimon. Let's fight some ghosts. In his mind he reaches out to the voice of the sword, "any suggestions on dealing with these ghostly guardians?" he asks.
Before waiting for an answer he whips out his hand crossbow, and then, taking advantage of Oak's proximity to make it harder to see what Aimon is doing, he fires a bolt at Narot, half expecting it to pass completely through the specter. Then he does his best to slip back into the shadows of the dark hallway to avoid being seen by the specters.
(Action: Attack: 18 Damage: 8 plus Sneak Attack 12 = 15 piercing or 7 damage after resistance - then
Bonus Action: Cunning Action to slip into the shadows of the hallway to Hide: Stealth: 16 )
Oak realises (a little later than the rest of the party) that the tone of the room has shifted: that his negotiations have fallen on deaf ears, and the spectres have suddenly become hostile.
With that, he musters all the anger he has within him for his former slave-masters. He can feel it billowing up inside him, building into a ferocious, frenzied, rage, just bursting to be let out...
His hand releases the torch he was holding, oblivious now even to its very presence, just letting it fall where it may. And he draws his greataxe. His eyes locked on Narot’s the whole time.
“Then rest now...” he says, in a voice that’s little more than an ominous growl. And he heaves his enormous weapon in a downward arc at Narot’s spectral form:
Caelynn backs up towards the corner of the room, speaking an incantation and casting hunter's mark on Narot as she does. She fires a bolt from her crossbow, though it lacks the purple aura she's become accustomed to.
Attack: 26 Damage: 8 nonmagical piercing, halved is 4.
Narot Life Drain Attack: 17 Damage: 10 points of necrotic damage to Oak. If it hits, roll a Constitution Save. Secondary attack for the disadvantage: Attack: 23 Damage: 9
Specter #1 Life Drain Attack: 7 Damage: 8 to Eldeth.
Specter #2 Life Drain Attack: 11 Damage: 13 to Eldeth.
Specter #3 (halfling) Life Drain Attack: 11 Damage: 14 to Sarith.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Chaos erupts within the small chamber as combat breaks out. Jimjar fires a bolt at the halfling, but it passes through its chest with no effect. He curses under his breathe. Eldeth begins singing a dwarven battle song as she wades into combat, swinging her heavy hammer. She strikes one of the specter, and an expression of pain flashes across its face. Topsy hurls a dagger, but it strikes the wall behind the apparitions with a metallic ringing sound. Sarith pulls the two rapiers out of their sheaths strapped across his back and darts near Oak, whirling and slashing as he goes. Both blades cut into their insubstantial bodies and leave gashes across them. Narot lunches forward and sticks his hand into Oak's chest. You feel his ghostly fingers clasp your heart, and your body chills. Two specters retaliate against Eldeth, but only one pierces her defences. The small specter assaults Sarith, but his graceful movements evade the apparition. Focussing their attacks, the party unleashes on Narot. Under the flurry of strikes, his already insubstantial form faces into mist. As he fades, bliss overcomes his features.
Eldeth Constitution Save: 10
Specter Perception: 5
((Do you guys want an OOC chat room thing? I can make one if you want.))
Caelynn stays back from the fray, switching her hunter’s mark to a different specter who has yet to fall and fires another bolt. Playing executioner is never a pleasant task, but she takes small solace in the fact that she seems to be doing these spirits a kindness in freeing them from their slavery.
Attack: 11 Damage: 7 nonmagical piercing, halved is 3
In a frenzied rage, Oak bellows as his gleaming ax arcs through the air and cleaves clean through one of the apparations. It bursts into mist with a wailing scream as it is released from its undead shackles. Enraged, he swings his ax through the air in a reckless strike that bites deeply into another specter. Before the specter can retaliate, twin bolts from Aimon and Caelynn sense it back into the slumber of death. It too fades into mist. Startled by the scream, Sarith's first strike goes wide, but his second strikes home. Shaking off the spirit's attack from last round, Eldeth strikes the remaining specter with her hammer. A bolt from Jimjar sails past her head and punctures the specter. Desperate, the last specter lunges towards Eldeth and rakes its ethereal hands across Eldeth's face just as Trill looses a string of profanity at the monster, startling it. Eldeth gasps at the pain.
So much chaos and commotion continues in the room that despite not settling into the shadows as much as he would have liked, it seems that it was still enough to be hidden from the spectre’s view.
Aimon lines up another shot from his crossbow and fires at the last spectre.
(Action:Sneak Attack with advantage from hiding - Attack: 15 Damage: 12 )
With a heavy heart, Oak turns to thelast remaining spectre. And with a voice that’s little more than a low rumble, he promises “It’s your turn now, my friend... you’ll be free of this torment soon...”.
He lifts his greataxe high above his head like an executioner’s blade. He pauses for a brief second... ... and then it comes down...
The specter staggers back as Aimon's bolt pierces its body. It looks up just in time as Oak's as splits down the middle. It bursts into mist and fades away. "Well, that wasn't too hard, " Jimjar says with a chuckle.
Eldeth slumps to the floor and groans in pain. Half of her face is already a mess of blue and black bruises. She is sweating profusely.
Oak stands, where the last spectre fell, his axe lowered, his head down. He nods slowly, already showing some signs of exhaustion. He speaks to the room sadly, but with an air of certainty... “They are free now... That was no life for them... There was nothing left of them to save....... Now they are truly free........”.

Aimon levels his crossbow at the specter that Eldeth hit, firing out from the cover of the shadows of the hallway.
He then moves forward and across the hallway, trying to stay to the shadow as much as possible to set up again.
