Nodding to Afamrail, Tana says; “I think your idea about beginning a fire may be worth looking into. If all the Giants are isolated to that main room, taking them on one by one will be much preferable to walking in and starting a fight.”
”Still, looking around a while more is probably the best way to go.”
Tana attempts to hear anything behind the door that was previously covered by the manticore hide.
Afamrail looks at the hidden door they have found on the west wall. Then he looks across the room at the other door on the east wall. Doors, doors, and more doors. He wonders who built this stronghold and what the need for all of the doors is. So far all they appear to have done is trap stale fetid air inside and keep any hint of nature outside. But, he is sure that eventually behind one of these doors they will find something that will help unravel what is happening here.
He positions himself by the hidden door.
"I will examine behind this door. Does someone else desire to see what is behind the other?"
"I will check this room while someone else examines the room behind the other door. Then we will need to decide if we wish to go down these stairs or not."
Afamrail looks around the room, and pokes at the pile of logs.
He dives deep into his own memories to try and make some sense of the word. Could it be the name of the plan? The name of the leader in charge of all of this? A password?
Once he has shown it to everyone he tucks the bone tubes and scrolls into his backpack and looks to Raine to see what she has found behind the other door in the other room.
Afamrail ponders the scroll in the bone tube a moment longer. It's a start, but not enough yet. He can not return with a possible name that no one has heard of before. The Guardians will not be impressed with that. He glances down the staircase.
"Clearly these stairs are not part of the main hallways in this stronghold. It may be an obvious statement but you do not hide a door if you intend the rank and file to make use of it. We can investigate the rooms we have not looked into already or we can go down into whatever dungeon is hidden below."
He looks from Tana, to Raine, to Risha, and to Zuril. They are all steady and level headed. They reacted quickly when the polar bear attacked. And good judgement has been used. He is starting to feel the connection a mission brings. He trusts this group. That may turn out to be trouble later.
"If we go down, we could become trapped. There is no way to know if there is another entrance to the chambers below. A few giants in this room could easily smoke us out and pick us off one by one when we try coming back up. It would be safer to reduce the number of giants up here before going down but I fear we would not successfully do that without possibly bringing the entire stronghold down. If that happens we may never be able to reach what is below."
He pauses and considers his words carefully.
"We do not know each other well and we have chosen to operate as a team without a leader. None can force the others to do anything. But even if I could I would choose not to. I feel compelled to go down the stairs. I will go alone if needed but I would value your company. If you stay above to take on the giants, all I ask is that you wait before setting anything a blaze."
"As of yet, the giants are unaware of our presence. If we keep it that way, I don't fear them trapping us on the lower level. There is no telling who or what lies below. It will likely be just as dangerous, or even more so than what we have encountered so far. But I trust you, Afamrail, and we are stronger as a group than we are as individuals. If you go, I will follow you."
"Also, I found a magic javelin if anyone wants it."
Raine cringes at the awkwardness of her own statement, but holds up the aforementioned item anyways.
Afamrail waves off the javelin. As much as he is intrigued by the power of that weapon, it is not a weapon of finesse. It requires great strength to make the most of, and that is not Afamrail's forte. If it was a dagger or dart of lightning, then he would be in his element.
Afamrail looks back down the stairs to gauge whether there are any torches lit or any other sources of light. Most of them will manage well enough in the dark, but he's unsure of Tana. He does not think Goliath's see well in the dark.
You can't hear anything from the door.
He then opens the hidden door.
This is a small room with only a pile of logs a a set of stairs heading down.
"I will check this room while someone else examines the room behind the other door. Then we will need to decide if we wish to go down these stairs or not."
Afamrail looks around the room, and pokes at the pile of logs.
(Perception: 19 )
Hidden under the pile of logs, two bone tubes, marked with a triangle surrounding the Y.
Afamrail, curiosity piqued and hopefully that they may have finally found something, picks up the bone tubes and examines them.
The triangle could be someone’s mark, he thinks.
He looks cautiously inside the tubes. These may hold scrolls of some sort.
"I'll check the other."
Raine carefully opens the other door.
Iris - Tiefling Cleric | Cassandra - Elf Warlock | Solace - Tiefling Monk | Tempest - Hexblood Monk | Lex - Fire Genasi Barbarian
Lilyn - Triton Ranger | Candor - Changeling Bard | Echo - Changeling Warlock/Bard | Rowan - Fairy Wizard
Insid the tubes is what appears to be battle plans, with town maps and writings, on the top of the scroll is something written in giant.
Evlavdra
Afamrail shows the scrolls to the others.
"Does Evlavdra mean anything to any of you?"
Spears, clubs, shields, and armor line the walls of this room.
Tana says "Why not pick up some souvenirs, and possibly look the part if needed?" and picks up one of the Giant's shield and clubs.
(Anything special about these, or are they generic shields / clubs?)
Raine searches the room and checks for magical objects.
"Never heard of it. Sounds like a name to me, though. Could be a person, or a place."
Investigation: 4
Iris - Tiefling Cleric | Cassandra - Elf Warlock | Solace - Tiefling Monk | Tempest - Hexblood Monk | Lex - Fire Genasi Barbarian
Lilyn - Triton Ranger | Candor - Changeling Bard | Echo - Changeling Warlock/Bard | Rowan - Fairy Wizard
Hidden behind some spears, wrapped in a dirty cloth is a Javelin of Light.
Afamrail ponders the scroll in the bone tube a moment longer. It's a start, but not enough yet. He can not return with a possible name that no one has heard of before. The Guardians will not be impressed with that. He glances down the staircase.

Lilyn - Triton Ranger | Candor - Changeling Bard | Echo - Changeling Warlock/Bard | Rowan - Fairy Wizard
just one thing, it's called a Javelin of Lighting.
Afamrail waves off the javelin. As much as he is intrigued by the power of that weapon, it is not a weapon of finesse. It requires great strength to make the most of, and that is not Afamrail's forte. If it was a dagger or dart of lightning, then he would be in his element.

"Well, if we are in agreement I could quietly go down the stairs and see what awaits us at the bottom."
Afamrail peers down the stairs again and slips down as quietly as possible, moving slowly and staying to the darkest shadows.
Torches line the walls of the stairs down.
