“We could double back and around the other hallway but if I have the layout of this place clearly in mind I think one of the doors down the other hallway also opens into this room.”
“They are already shouting so us charging in may not alert the rest of the stronghold.”
He listens more closely to the shouting and waves Tana over to do the same thing as the both speak giant. Maybe they can hear enough to find out what is going on.
Tana notes Afamrail’s sign and heads over towards the door, attempting to listen for any discernible sounds.
Whispering to Afamrail, he says; ”I cannot make out any words they are saying. However, I have a few other tricks up my sleeve.”
Debating, he asks; “If you are willing to run the risk of being caught by standing idle for a while, I can take some time to send a spirit of my ancestors to scout the area behind this door.” (Clairvoyance just beyond the door).
This room appears to be a kitchen, with fire places having meat being help over them and tables full of raw meat and seasonings. Twenty nine orcs with chains around their legs work around the kitchen, with six hill giants and six young ogres also help around the kitchen. The yelling is just all of the servants panicking while making the food.
Tana stands up and whispers to the rest of the group.
"The room beyond that door is a kitchen. Around thirty enslaved Orcs are working, along with six Hill Giants watching over them. I do not recommend we pass this door if secrecy is in mind." Thinking, he says; "If we can talk to one of the servants there we could exchange information for breaking them free. May not be the best idea there is, but it could be worth looking into." Turning to the other members of their party he says; "Moving on looks like our best course of action. I'm afraid our mission won't be complete by eavesdropping on a kitchen."
Afamrail is relieved to hear the big Goliath urge caution rather than advocate for a full charge into the kitchen. They would tire themselves out with fighting and the likely best outcome was to be stuck babysitting Orcs while still trying to get to the heart of this stronghold.
”We should go around and up the other hallway. There were other doorways that may be more fruitful than this one,” he says to the others. “If not, we can do as Tana suggests and question the staff and slaves. Tana might not attract suspicion here.”
He looks at Tana knowing he probably hates these giants more than any of the rest of them. Giants have not normally been kind to his people.
"Agreed. Our goal should be to find and take out whatever leadership they have, not pick petty fights. If we fail to do this by searching the stronghold, we could attempt an interrogation. I speak Giant as well, though I'm not sure I'd blend in as much as Tana would." Raine gestures vaguely to her appearance. Her short stature and blue coloration would both be dead giveaways that she doesn't belong here. She'd still be willing to try if the others wanted her to, but she doubted it would work.
Afamrail stretches his fingers to ease the tension that has been building and then re-nocks the arrow on his bow.
Before heading back down to the other hallway he thinks of the extra furniture and wood and the burning torch.
”If needed we could start a fire at this door to get all those inside to panic and run. A distraction might save us later.”
He then heads around to the other hallway, moving silently as possible. He opens the door to the hallway and looks up it to make sure it is still empty.”
(OOC at least that is if the map I’ve been drawing is correct).
Afamrail travels quickly and quietly up the wide hallway. He would not have expected the hill giants to have been able to craft something as stable and sturdy as this stronghold. They might have been able to seize it from someone else, but the size of the doors and width and height of the hallways all indicate it was built for those of massive proportions. But that did not tell them anything at this point. They already knew that some other force had to be guiding these hill giants.
Getting up the hall to the two sets of double doors he pauses. Based on how they have traveled, he suspects the one on the west wall enters the kitchens. He turns to the set on east side of the hallway and listens for sounds on the other side.
Afamrail shrugs and looks at Raine. “It is going to get more difficult staying vigilant through this process. Let us try the next passage.”
Afamrail heads up the passage connected to this hallway to see what is down there.
Down the turn is a hallway with a door at the end.
Afamrail feels his usual caution diminishing. Empty room after empty room almost makes him just open the door without listening first.
But as he reaches to push the door open he pauses and listens for any noise.
Walking and shouting can be heard from the door.
“We could double back and around the other hallway but if I have the layout of this place clearly in mind I think one of the doors down the other hallway also opens into this room.”
“They are already shouting so us charging in may not alert the rest of the stronghold.”

With a bit more listening, the shouting is less shouting out of anger and more shouting orders, but you can't hear what they're saying.
Tana notes Afamrail’s sign and heads over towards the door, attempting to listen for any discernible sounds.

Afamrail nods. "I think we have time."
Tana casts Clairvoyance past the doorway to hear & see what’s happening.
(Note: spell states see or hear, but due to taking one action to switch between the two I’m assuming I’ll be able to do both).
Afamrail moves back down the hallway to the opening to the next hallway to stand watch while Tana casts the spell.

“We are agreed then?”

Nobody, is there.

(there is a pair at the end of the hall and one at the east wall, sorry I'm terrible at directions)
Afamrail listens on the set on the east doors.
Cheering and talking can be heard front the room.
