Alton follows behind the group, just happy that they rescued one person so far. He hums a little happy song, quite pleased with how the day has gone... Even if he got hurt multiple times.

"It was some group of goblins I don't remember. They said something in goblin just before I went down. I'm sorry I can't help much."

Darius just nodded. He could only hope that their patron was still alive. He remained silent as they continued on to the city.

Dale was likewise reflective, and beginning to cogitate over what their patron was/is involved with that would cause Goblins to be after him.

After 8 hours walking you reach the town. The rutted track emerges from wooded hillside, and you catch a your first glimpse of Phandalin. The town consists of forty or fifty simple log buildings, some built on old fieldstone foundations. More old ruins --- crumbling stone walls covered in ivory bars and briars --- surround the newer houses and shops Most of  the newer buildings are set sides of the cart track, which widens to a muddy main street of sorts as it climbs toward a ruined manor house on the hillside of the east side of town. As you approach, you see children playing on town green and townsfolk tending to chores or running errands at shops. Many people look up as you approach, but all return to their business an you go by. Sildar seems much more at ease. "Thank you for the escort" he says. He hands one of you 50 GP. "This is your pay, you can divide this how you'd liek"

Darius watched the exchange take place, then spoke to Sildar, "You should probably rest up. We'll probably stay the night ourselves." He looked toward the others. "Unless anyone wants to push on through the night?"

"I could do with a rest as well, where do you recommend Sildar?"

"The only  inn in town," Sildar says. "Stonehill Inn"

"Sounds good - let's hope they're still open," to the rest of the group, "so, a meal and a bed? And then in the morning try to find some more information? I for one am keen to find our missing man"

“I could use a drop or three, maybe something to eat.” Symon sounds a little bit enthusiastic, but more burnt out than anything. “Then we can plan on how to make this other goblin pay.”

Alton taps his fingers. "Well, I can at least probably get free room and board. I am an entertainer by trade, technically." He says with a small smile. "But as far as the plan, a good night's sleep would be nice." He looks over at Sildar and nods.

"We'll get 'im back."

"Yeah, we'll rip'em a new sphincter." Symon looks around. "BuuRRP!"

Walking passing shops and a smithy you reach Stonehill Inn . Throughthe door you find a commin room with locals nursing mugs of ale or cider, all of them eyeing you with curiosity.

Darius chose a table in the common room and sat, finally glad to have seat after the day's exertion. He was also hungry--food first, room later, he figured.

Spotting a server, he waved and impatiently pointed down toward his table.

Dale, likewise was famished, and followed Darius to the table, ignoring the curious eyes for the time being not wanting to cause a scene at this time of the evening. 

Alton dusts himself off from the filth of the dungeon before moving over to the bar to plead his case for performing there for the night, holding out his flute.

Symon will plunk himself down at the table, grin at the serving wench and say, "Grog all around, we boyars be thirsting, the road was dusty and hot.  You know," he continued to whom ever might not be paying attention, "grog is called uisce beatha in an ancient language once spoken by those who made it first, whiskey be another name, both mean 'waters of life'.  T'is said to be useful to gain the truth from those who drink too much of it.  Warriors use to quaff large draughts just before battle and when they engaged the enemy they were said to be invulnerable berserkers.  Alas, these days not many folk know about real uisce beatha, for no one any more knows the true secret of its mixing.  What a shame, I would give much to rediscover that secret."

"Aye, is that so........"  And then trails off. Then o the serving girl/boy, "Ale will do me fine to wash the dirt down my throat, what would you recommend for a hungry dwarf? Some simple fare should suffice"

Back to Symon "So, where did you go to fill your head with so many words? I am sure there is some knowledge behind all that talk - I suspect your patter may be a ruse to disguise your true self? But I feel being tired makes me more philosophical than usual and I have no intent to pry upon yourself. While sometimes I have no understanding of what you say, it does amuse me"

Then to Darius "So, we have made it this far, and I know you are as determined as I am to find our missing benefactor - I have not much knowledge of these parts - maybe Alton might free some tongues? At any rate, it might be interesting....... I am happy to have a meal first before looking to inquire too deeply."
