"My thanks, good Sirs, you beat this test but now I think we need a rest"
If it is within reason to catch our breath Etrigan will find a place to sit by the rubble, ready to discuss further plans with his new allies.
"I hope our interests here align our partnership could be benign."
(OOC: Cormac rolled save in post #3203. But would make it if Leann was within 10´by then. Suggest short rest if possible, as we all are a bit beat up.)
Didn't see the save. Simul-posting. Never got a fear save from Leann, so not sure if she's close to the eidolon or not. So let's find out:
Leann Save vs. Fear effect (non-magical) 26
Leann holds her ground in the face of the wailing spirit. Her bravery inspires the Cormac to work through his haunting memories and retain his composure.
I'm acknowledgimg the bid for a short rest, which will commence unless someone objects. I feel obliged to point out how heavily guarded this place was, though.
If we get a short rest, Huarache will ritual-cast Detect Magic by preparing a filter for his welding mask (welding was first kinda-developed in 1800; Lantan definitely had something, and if you say that doesn't track, Huarache just has forge goggles or something). If the statue has nothing magical about it, or at least nothing besides the eyes, Huarache is going to try to pry the gems out. Stepping up to the statue, he thwacks it a few times with a non-magical hammer and says, "You done with your very nearly killing me? Good." With that, he pulls out a chisel and starts attempting to free the statue's eyes.
Sorry to break up the parade but I need to save against Bloodlust again.
Wis Save : 18
ok well that works.
As the spirit fades Cormac turns his lupine eyes on the others around him. Letting out a low growl it appears for a moment he might leap to attack. Instead he shakes his head. His form pulls in on itself. His stature straightens to that of a man. Short curly brown hair and a shaggy beard. The eyes however remain the yellow eyes of the wolf. With the transformation over he cliches some clasps on his armor which looks to be designed to adjust when his form changes. He looks around and retrieves his sword. Then looking around quickly he says worriedly “Did I hurt anyone?”

Huarache magically senses the architecture of the arcane apparatus underlying the statues gem eyes. He sees that the gem eyes are a focal point for the magic of the temple, and are magically connected to the various control panels making use of the missing components from the Infernal Machine of Lum the Mad. Careful examination of the gems reveals that they are connected to the statue with silver wires similar to those seen in Thessalar’s labs. (FYI, Etrigan knows all of thus from earlier)
Removing the gems is tricky. Thieve's tools; DC20, (suitable alternatives may be accepted)
When Leann opens the door to the room with Logan and Little Gadai, he sees the boy rifling through the contents if the room. The little pile of treasures he's looted thus far sits in the center of the room and consists of 25 cp, 55 sp, and 10 gp.
In addition, twelve uncut rubies (worth 50 gp each) are being used as pieces for the board game.
"Yes good Sir, you hurt quite a bit but only those who deserved it." Etrigan smilingly comments Cormacs question as he´s recouperating after the intense battle.
So, this must surely be an adventuring party, but a werewolf and a lizardman, and then there is the heavily armored beautiful woman and the half-elf with the peculiar horn, and what was that, a cat man or a man cat. Etrigan seems to remember meeting one at some point, Behemoth, right, had a penchant for chess, vodka and pistols. Or would that be another made up memory.
Etrigan walks over to Huarache as the tabaxi is prying loose the eyes of the now dormant statue. "And now, good Sir, what is your plan, could it include poor Etrigan?"
This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?

Mack Francache (the wererat) bolts for the door and doesn't look back.
<ooc: So, the timeline is: defeat the eidon, cast detect magic, try to pry the eyes out, take a short rest, is that right? Sounds like one or more people like a long rest. If it's a discussion in-game, then...>
Little Gadai (the rescued boy) protests. While grateful to Leann and the others for saving him, he hates the idea of lingering and, while now terrified of the temple, feels he must reunite with the rest if his party. "Those things will be back." He speculates. Mçy sister, Mack, everyone; they're in danger. We have to find them!" Looking over the bodies littering the floor, among the lizardmen and crocodile, amid the rubble if the collapsed dais, Little Gadai finds the remains of Twitch (see post #3020). Little Gadai removes the medallion pinned to the corpses shirt and stares somberly into the hand in which the medallion rests, before quickly slipping it into his pocket. "We have to find the others." Little Gadai says, choking back the tears welling in his eyes "before its too late."
Huarache would also sense this item is magical, as is the one the boy himself wears, similar to the ones worn by Sam, Leann and Huarache - given to them by Moghadam at the Tomb of Horrors (not yet bearing that name).
Etrigan would notice this kid bears a strong resemblance to the theif who tried to pry the eyes out before the statue began to move.
"We need to remain here. Im bleeding and running out of spells"

When Etrigan notices the resemblance he decides to talk to little Gadai. "Child, listen, I bring news most dire, your sister I´m afraid perished in a fire." Etrigan lays a comforting hand on the childs shoulder. "Of your anger I have little doubt, If revenge you seek I will help you out"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
For that thieves' tools check, it's a 17 if it's a DEX check, plus 6 if 6 would get it to 20 (Flash of Genius). As Huarache works on that, he responds, "Well, we're going to be headed out of here to get bits and pieces back to where they were, so to speak. That includes people and mechanical parts."
"Then, good Sir, my help will not be in vain, the temples loss, you see, is my gain." Etrigan studies the work of the brilliant tabaxi engineer and ponders his words. "The pieces you sought, where will they be brought?"
FoG is a very ambiguous worded ability, even after October's Sage Advice on the subject. In general my rule will be that it's used before success or failure as declared, immediately after the dice are rolled. In this case, I clearly announced the DC, so it's really a non-issue here; I just wanted to sort it out.
Huarache dillegently disentangles the silver wires from the mounting prongs of the large rubies, freeing them from their stone sockets. (Notwithstanding their value to Moghadam and Thessalar, the statue’s gemstone eyes are worth 5,000 gp each.)
"A fellow craftsman was looking for some particular mechanical parts, and I was told I could find some here. Are you cursed or something; what's with the rhyming?"
“There is a room back this way that is more defensible. And if any of you can pick locks some allies that could help keep watch as we rest.” Cormac gestures to the hall he had come from.
<< ooc: So, it sounds like a short rest. If I didn't make this point to everyone, I would recommend not long renting within the temple of Moloch, lest you're imprisoned ot some such. If you need to long rest, there is a town 2 miles down the road, the exit being in the room next to this one.>>
"You saw her? You saw my sister... die?" Little Gadai half-shouts at Etrigan, whispering the last word. The boy turns then to Cormac: "These allies you speak of, what did they look like? Did they wear a pin like this one?" he presses as he removes the token lifted from the corpse from his pocket to show Cormac.

Riavor sulking walked back into the room. And taking inspiration from etrigan spoke
"We should stop and sleep till dawn. We should stop and eat and plot Lest our bodies litter their lawn. Lest we need to flee. This is my thought."
"I, at least need to recover my spells and regenerate. I used my strongest spells defending myself in my first fight."
