Also OOC: I'm going to assume Huarache is carrying the non-magical treasure, but just to definitively say who's keeping track of this battle's loot. If anyone wants any specific piece of non-magical treasure, say so, but otherwise, I'm notating it all in my notes section of my character sheets. Also, Huarache definitely wants to explore an old Dwarven forge for interesting stuff.
Final OOC for now: Huarache will look in this place/mine entrance for three things: potion ingredients, Alchemist's Supplies, and Smith's Tools. His own set of the latter was made through a class feature, and having a permanent set would be nice.
Leann looks at the statue of Imix and recognizes an object hammered into its flames as having once been part of a key. It's the only bit of adamantine on the statue, and only the toughness of adamantine prevented it from being hammered out of all recognition.
You can take as long or short a rest as you'd like to. The warlock is awake so Huarache can ask it anything he wants to.
Ctenmiir tells Sam: "These beasties are no dwarves, for them a forge is but a hot thing with shiny bits about it. This is where they put their ugly statue; I'm guessing this is where they've chosen to set themselves up, among all the stinking sulfurous slag."
1 Mote of Unholy Fire. Strange fire that can be bottled like a liquid. Casts light like a torch. Draws undead towards it. The fire will flicker out in 1d6 hours, but adding a drop of blood to it will extend the time limit by 1 hour
2 Motes of Elemental Fire. Appears as a rock that glows dimly. If dropped into an open flame, casts Faerie Fire centered on the mote. Can be used as the material component of a Commune spell to contact a deity in the Elemental Plane of Fire. Using either of these abilities destroys the mote.
Leann would grab the key if it can be grabbed, leave it if it cannot. She would rest with the others, then be prepared to move onward once they are all ready.
Once the adamantine key fragment is picked out, a more careful search turns up a second fragment of gold, so thoroughly hammered that it's barely recog- nizable as the remains of a key. So little of them remains that not even a mending spell can fix them.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hit Dice for Dorian: 20 He'll also use his Arcane Recovery to get back 3 1st-level spell slots, and he'll cast Comprehend Languages as a ritual if it's needed.
(OOC: Not sure if the potion of greater healing counts as magical or not, so just in case, someone should definitely grab that -- maybe someone with high HP/AC who can use it on someone else if they go down.)
If there's nothing that needs to be identified, after that Dorian will investigate the bodies to see if they have any useful weapons, armor, or interesting items on them (more keys, maps or notes, magic items, etc). Investigation: 13
I'm assuming someone speaks Draconic or Primordial to act as a translator.
He is furious, but among the stream of profane insults he mentions his frustration with the last slave they found, something about his complaint about the heat, disgusted with his heresy. Concluding: "Were it not for the generous flames of Imix, the infidel would have been cold and slimy, barely edible, the ungrateful worm!"
Those winged boots are still there if someone wants them.
Ooc: I understand this was a short rest, if you want it to be a long, that's also fine, just let me know or act accordingly it won't affect anything.
Please finish anything you want to do in this room before proceeding.
Following a short rest, a final look around the cavern, you head to the Southwest corner of the cave, which ascends gradually about 20 ft as you travel deeper into the mountain. The path splits, but either side you travel you will see the end of the other tunnel to your left or right.
A cavern of molten magma bubbles and flames before you. The cavern walls are lined with metal gantries and cranes that support immense crucibles of scorched clay. Huge chains stretch across the cavern, apparently to shuttle multi·ton buckets of ore across the lava.
The heat takes your breath away, brings water to your eyes, and bakes your skin. From where you stand, the only obvious way across is via a narrow stone trestle built for rail carts.
The magma is 10 feet below the level of the gantries and the rail cart trestles. Great chains span the rift in two places, allowing ore to be hoisted across in buckets.
West: Directly across from the platform on which you stand, if you took the right (directional) tunnel, is another platform from which a tunnel opening can be reached. A chain spans the chasm from your side to the platform opposite.
North: To the right of the right tunnel, above the magma, there is a bridge which cannot be reached on foot, connecting a tunnel on your side of the cavern to one on the opposite side.
South: To the left of the left tunnel you see another platform with a crane across the river of magma, from which another tunnel opens.
Most platforms are no more than 10ft from the next at the nearest point, 15ft in the case of the north bridge.
(OOC: re tying up the warlock, I assume he has to have line of sight for most of his fire, so rope plus a blindfold would probably go fairly far. And yes, with his spell Dorian is acting as translator. We'll definitely take the boots, also.)
Is any of the machinery moving/operational? Does the chain-and-bucket system look operational?
Confirming that, Huarache did indeed use rope. And if nobody else will take the winged boots, I think it would be fantastic to give them to Echo. Not for tactical purposes or anything; I just think it'd be funny.
I.. think it might work. Like the shoes wouldn't fit the dog's feet, but you could just bolt them to her back or something. I guess. But he can't attune to them, so I have to look closely at the wording on that item if you want them to function.
The term line of sight is not the same as being able to see it. Blind creatures even without blind sense can cast most spells the only spells that being blinded would affect are those with wording like "...that you can see"
The phrase is analogous to 'as the crow flies' meaning almost the same thing, a straight line between two points without obstruction.
My point is, blindfolds only prevent the wearer from casting a small percentage of spells.

Huarache's search uncovers the following:

Huarache is just going to ask the warlock what they did with Vernell. He will also spend four hit dice and regain 34 HP.

Auto correct love to see it
Huarache will keep the potion; he's got AC, Shield spell slots, and Hit Points for a good while.

How, by the way, did we tie up the warlock that routinely manifests fire, Huarache? Like.. with what?
