"We don't wish to harm you but help you,"Kava confirms, "it is safe to come out. And quickly, don't know when more cultists will arrive. This is all very strange..."
On the other side of the door there's a shifting of something heavy, which you can make is to be a barricade of some sort and you're let in into the Temple of Pelor!
You see a little more than two dozen people (each icon is a group of five people) huddled together in groups.
Someone goes to speak, when you all hear a sudden crash against of the intricate wooden doors on the other side of the temple, but the locks and hinges hold this time. Panic rises again across the groups of people...
A female voice whispers right next your ear Ophelia. “If you can get the door closed upon them again once they break in, you can trap the enemy in the temple and burn it all down around them.”
Kava, you can gauge from the lights from the torches ominously glowing outside seen from the temple's stained glass windows and ruckus heard their almost doing a complete round.
Who knows when they'll start another one.
Voices bark from the crowd:
"Who are you people?!"
"Brother, you've been tricked! You bastards have already taken everything we have!"
"Tricked?" Kava asks, "we were sent here by Escobert to rescue anyone still trapped, we don't want anything you have. So would you like to follow us to the keep or stay here? Something tells me those doors wont hold forever."
Ophelia stares off into space for a second as the voice pops into her head again. Assuming it was Jack (or whatever spoke for him), she announces out loud: "I'm rather sure we don't want to burn down a temple." She nods in response to Kava's plan and tries to placate the crowd. "They haven't taken your lives... yet. Come with us and we'll get you to the keep."
"They carry truth in their words." A half-elf steps forward, he his eyes determined while holding himself tall despite his willowy frame. He steps forward, pale robes with gold trim catch the distant candlelight , "Forgive the people, they are scared and expect the worst. I am Iyadan, the priest here. Please, if you speak of Escobert then I am sure you are here to help. Please, lead the way and I will do my best to keep everyone calm..."
He rounds up the people to go, who hear calming tones in various languages and he gives a little bow and whispers a little prayer before joining the townsfolk outside awaiting direction.
As you're using the forest as cover, the gateway to the tunnel entrance is in sight as you discover a group of cultist with their kobolds seems interested in your movements and are approaching out of curiosity... what do you decide to do?
"Heh, seems those lot are going the wrong way. Let 'em know it's the other way, we'll come join you in a bit..." The cultists and kobolds slink away, malice in their excitement.
With the largest suspicion deterred, you all make it to the hidden entrance safely. A sense of relief begins to trickle through the townsfolk as they make it in tunnel, despite the stench of stagnant water and skittering the shadows of the crawlies...
Civilians finally feel the relative safety behind the manned thick walls of Scatterheart Keep. Some finally crumble and begin to mourn the loss in one another shoulder, others seem lighter while other see how much is being done and are only looking to help.
The taller people part for the appearance of Castellan Escobert, a look of sheer gratitude on his face with his arms spread open, "Ye did it! Wonderful, just wonderful! Now.. my eyes out there have caught those bastards eyeing up our storage mill. I can spare some time if you want to catch a breather, but we can't leave it all night..."
At the words, you all able to spare a moment at the makeshift rooms of rest in the keep; a place to sit and rest in comfort that seems so far, a small serving of hot, flavoursome food that warms deeper than initially guessed or a moment to go over your immediate equipment, keeping everything in fine shape ready for action in a moment's notice.
The castellan eventually rounds you all up after letting you finish whatever small task you were tending to.
Escobert begins to lead you all through the keep at a pace, about to get into the info on the storage mill, when there's suddenly a heavy beat of wings and deep shattering sound of splintering wood as the dragon smashed whatever locks off the main gate 50 ft. wide open allowing cultists and kobolds to crawl in.
"Those bastards! I'll get the wounded out of here, you deal with them!" Escobert heaves two soldiers to safety.
