"That's odd." T'ohra says, settling her shield and fingering her weapon as she looks hard at the Captain. "I would assume that the pirates from earlier were after something, yet you say there is no cargo. No foodstuffs? Tea or spices? Livestock?"

"Now you mentioned it," The captain replied, "I have been tied and gagged in another room for a very LONG~ while... I wouldn't know what they may have been doing with the ship for that time..." The captain confessed.
"Perhaps we should interrogate that pirate man..." Saproth suggested.
The captain then turned his attention to Saproth, "I truly take offence of you assuming we are pirates. I truly am an honest trader... And as if I may have had some questionable recruitment choices... that shouldn't discriminate to designate your perception and regard any sea worker as PIRATE!~" He took insult.
T'ohra cleared her throat, catching their attention again. "While I'm certain you are a reputable seafaring man, that does beg the question, why did I hear a pig squealing aboard your ship?" She gestured in the direction it came from. "Perhaps, before we do anything else, we should double-check that the actual pirates didn't do anything particularly unpleasant whilst they had control of your vessel, no?

The captain unsheathed a rapier out of his hip, "Although I have doubts with the accuracy your hearing, Las," he nodded, "I would have to agree."
The captain looked over her shoulder, having second thoughts about everything, "Aye... would you mind to take point?" He put the weapon in a defensive stance across himself.
"I'm still a bit tender from those arrows I took earlier, but I suppose if nobody else is willing." T'ohra looks around to see if somebody wanted to take point instead.

Saproth was also a bit hesitant. Not even sure if they can simply trust the captain, even if he'd given them these treasured items... he still may be having an ulterior motive for everything. Other than his questionable recruitment skills...
"Be careful, Tor..." Saproth whispered as they approached the door.
The captain is genuine and wasnt aware the door was even locked, "Thats the door to the cargo area... it shouldn't have been locked..." He said defensively with T'ohras suspicious gaze at him.
As the door swings open, an aroma of fresh marrow and sulfur meets the party. The light from the ceiling was enough for everyone.

"By the storm..." T'ohra says as she walks into the room, her shield still raised. "A basilisk. Could this have been the one guarding the valley?" She turns to the others, though keeps the creature in her periphery in case it is able to lash out. "If so, this may be the reason behind the plague. These Pirates were using this wretched thing to weaken the town for their nefarious purpose."

"I'm not certain there is much we can do with just the beast, unless they brought its eggs here." She turns to the elected leader of their party. "What do you suggest Bramnus?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bramnus ponders the question and replies, “First, I think we should check the beast for wounds. It might be injured and think we’re trying to attack it. Let’s try to gain its trust. Then we can search for the eggs on the ship.”.

Perception check for traps 19
The door seems clear on inspection, but at this distance, Saproth was also able to hear the sound. "But I dont think thats a pig..."
It sounded more like the labored breathing of an asthmatic Lion... if Saproth were to guess.
Saproth waiting for someone to open the door.
Eraqrin jogs up to the door, hastily strapping on his new armor and pulling out his greataxe. "I'll open the door and see what's there."

Bramnus steps up to help with the door: 3
Eraqrin successfully uses Sleight of Hand but the door has no pockets or hidden items. He finds the door is locked.
Bramnus tries to force the door, but to no avail.
"Oh... I have a key!" The captain volunteered as he handed it over, "Skeleton key, opens anything on the ship..." He smiled, forgetting he has it.
T'ohra looks at the Captain oddly, finding it strange that he 'forgot' he had such a thing.

IC: T’orah found a chained up and blinded basilisk. Still gnawing on a humanoid arm, but obviously not in any condition to fight.

Mersun's eyes widened upon the realization, "THE VILLAGE!" She frantically gasped as she leaped away out of the ship.
"Should we follow her?" Saproth asked.

Bramnus sees its in a stable condition, considering its condition. Its eyes have been all destroyed, and two of its front claws have been severed.
The basilisk found Bramnus' scent and started to look for it. It started to lick his hand.
Meanwhile, outside, the crew started to report that black smoke have started emanating from the village.
Hreddun twirls his staff and begins to beat a rythem, and speaks a word of power

The bolt unlinked the chain connecting the beast to they wall. It was now free, but had no idea it was.
A crew member then ran to the Captain, "The village is on fire!" He reported.
