Kriv just keeps moving forward looking around now in confusion "What kind of investigation? Is there something to be worried about? Should we get the rest of the town guard?"

Aeros who had been observing the entire area for anything suspicious, noticed Arthasis' gesture blocking Menodoa from entering the building and quickly made his way over towards the door to investigate.  Beating him to the landing though was a pale looking elf and... a ravenite!  Remembering the general history of "animosity" between their ancestors he was told about as a child, he approaches the group gingerly and says, "Oh, uh, hi there.  Like my friend said, there's nothing to worry about over here.  Just performing a routine wellness check on a sick woman on behalf of the City Watch."  His eyes dart quickly to the dragonborn as he flashes his badge to the newcomers quickly before continuing, "We appreciate the offer but I believe that we've got it covered." 

There's a hacking cough from inside the house as the door opens slightly wider. It's dark inside.

As you all deal with this new situation, the hacking cough from inside turns to hissing laughter and several crossbow bolts zing out, aiming for anyone near the door.

Kriv just lets out a sigh "They don't..." he says as the crossbow bolts fly out the door at the strangers "Better check on his wellness though."

The Kobold is running away from the others. Eryn can't quite make out if its carrying anything or not.

Menodora nods, and stops any of the initiative that would have led her to continue inside as Arthasis blocks her.

"It very much seems that way," she agrees before she she is distracted by the newcomers. Despite the feeling of this being a trap, when the the crossbow bolts strike it's very much a surprise to her.
