Randrak turns to Alanis, "I thought we were supposed to clean the place out from the goblins, not negotiate? I have never met a goblin who is willing to be sensible about these things. Though if that is route that we want to try, they will soon find out that I can be rather persuasive as the need arises."

“Goblins can’t be trusted, so tryin’ to parley with’m would just be flappin’ yer jaws to no good purpose.” Mercwri grimaces. “Much as I like t’ try ‘n’ reason things out, that ain’t a gonna work here. The only good thing about goblins is they’s pertty effective fly attractors when transformed inta mincemeat.”

Uldran speaks up then. "I am sorry Reggarn I agree with the others, unless you have a convincing plan to deal with this peacefully then we should attack. The only question being do we take a rest and attack in the morning or press on straight away."
Randrak shrugs his shoulders, "If we decide to rest until morning then we will have to take turns keeping watch. If the goblins discover us whilst we all sleep, then that will be the end for us."

As Randrak suggests you take turns at watch during the night. You manage to take a long rest but it ends abruptly when you hear a scream in the early hours of the morning. You all awake to find Reggarn missing, he had volunteered to take the last watch and it would appear that he wandered from the camp or has been taken.
Mercwri springs up and tries to discern the direction of the scream as soon as his wits inform him of Reggarn's disappearance. Quickly he loads that wonderful crossbow and is now ready for any initial 'difficulties'.

Alanis wakes up with a start, and looks around in a panic.
She staggers to her feet, hurriedly grabbing at her vials and trying to discern any possible source of danger.
(OOC: It warms my heart how happy that crossbow makes Mewcri 😄. I wonder if I can ever make myself change infusions with the risk of separating those star-crossed lovers!)
OCC Mercwri seems a fairly understanding chap and probably not spend too much time on the floor kicking and screaming should you wish, or need to uncross his bow, so ro speak.

(OOC: I assumed as much, just jesting 😉 No worries, if an actual need arises to change it, I‘ll speak up, but until then I am more than happy to leave that weapon magical and in Mewcri‘s capable hands)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While the others have been sleeping Reggarn snuck off to find where the goblins have camped out. As he sees their encampment he hides himself away stealth check (21). He then calls out in goblin. "Friends I come to share news with you." persuasion (8)
OOC: The scream is canon now so I'll just repurpose it :D Welcome back Reggarn!
Reggarn as you whisper your words you were not quite aware of how close you got and you manage to scare one of the goblins near to death who had been sleeping a bare few feet away from you. It screams out in shock and surprise as your words wake it!
Another much taller hobgoblin lifts its self from the ground nearby and draws a sword. "What manner of creature calls us friend in this land." it hisses. You see a third goblin in the rocks to the other side of the path levelling its bow.
"Peace good fellows. I am a Cleric of the Dwarves sent to seek peace with you and your kind. These lands are harsh enough without the fighting between our peoples. Please forgive my frightening you."
"Reggarn has gone," explains Uldran. "He took the last watch and he has gone."
Back at the entrance to the monastery:
The hobgoblin laughs, "Peace? What peace can there be between a goblin of the deep shade and a priest of the stone folk. We will take this land and burn your homes, just like Big Lugz has commanded. You do not frighten us!"

"My feet are sore. Does anyone see a place to rest?", Freak says, and he starts looking for a sheltered place in the vicinity.

Freak you are way too tired to look for long and eventually plant yourself down at the side of the path to rest your tired feet.
OOC: Can you decide in the OOC chat whether you want a long or short rest?

"I agree with Phreak. Let's rest up, let the light return, and then we can get to clearing out the pests."
Randrak shrugs his shoulders, "If we decide to rest until morning then we will have to take turns keeping watch. If the goblins discover us whilst we all sleep, then that will be the end for us."
