Reggarn you bring down your mace just as the Hobgoblins eyes snap open. You are so shocked that you fumble the attack and the mace slams down next to the creatures head. In the meantime Uldran tears the throat out of one of the sleeping goblins. The rest of you still have a "free" attack before the hobgoblin can react.
Randrak you slice into the creature with two vicious swipes of your weapon. It is at deaths door and the rest of you dispatch it without issue, leaving the lone goblin alive on the ground before you.
You all stand before the monastery entrance now. The heavy black oak doors stand open and the corridor beyond is dark. At your feet the goblin stirs.

*In goblin to the Goblin* (I will wait between questions but I'm gonna put them all down now.) What does that bell do? Tell me more about Big Lugz. Have the stone folk done something to upset the goblin of the deep shade? Is there any way we can achieve peace between our peoples? persuasion : 4
Reggarn you ask about the bell and the goblin glances toward it before looking down at its dead companions.
”Bell is for warning. The other know you be here now and will be ready.”
He shrugs when you ask about Big Lugz, “He is big time boss from uplands. He be bringing the lads across the fire to destroy the stone folk. Just like he did in the big city. The stone folk kill goblins always... there can be no peace... the knife ears help us now and we have dragons. Goblins won’t be scratching around in the dark no more... oh no you will see.” Uldran draws back his lips and growls at the mention of “knife ears.” The hackles on his Direwolf form raising.
"Knife ear? I'm not too sure what that is. What does Big Lugz look like? I don't like that we killed your compatriots but they were going to kill me first. I simply wanted to talk. "
"I want you to live but you have to give me a reason. Right now I'm worried you will go and join the others. How many more of you are there inside the monastery?" Reggarn keeps his mace in hand.
"I dont be counting them." moans the goblin, then seeing you gripping your weapon, "bout this much!" he offers holding up the fingers on both hands.
He looks at you thoughtfully then, "If you let grub live, I'll go right away and never come back... If you let grub live I'll tell you about the wicked traps. Two of them on the steps going down below the place. Horrid rats held in a barrel and a chest full of poisoned nasties."
Mercwri looks at Reggarn as though he is crazy, “Ye canna trust these things, cairtainly nae wid o’r loives. Do bes cairtain it’ll squeal louder’n a stuck pig if’s ye nae take it’s tongue so, bes quick if ye would, ‘we d’ye want me t’ help?”

Reggarn relaxes a little at the mention of traps. "Now that is something I can work with Grub. Thank you for telling me about the traps and how many others are down below. If you wish to go in peace I need you to give me your weapons and anything else that could harm us. If you are unarmed you can go it peace."
Reggarn picks up the daggers and then turns to address the rest of the party. "This is Grub. He no longer wishes to fight. He has given up his weapons. Please let him pass."
Alanis nods readily, respecting Reggarn‘s stance, but keeps an eye out on the gates in case the remaining goblins decide to strike instead of setting up defenses.
Peering into the entrance you see archways on the right hands side of a long corridor leading into what was once the main chapel. This part of the building has mostly collapsed. On the left hand side of the same corridor you see an open doorway in the distance and can make out light and movement within the room beyond.

Mercwri scowls fiercely at the departing goblin, "I hope we don't come to regret this."
He'll then turn his attention back to the entrance, but still keeping a weather eye out to the rear, just in case.
