Alanis is still very shaken from the experience, but takes a breath, nervously infusing one of her little candies with magic and plopping it into her mouth (Guidance)and hesitantly begins to look over the bodies and around the room. Less so for loot, but for something, anything that could explain what in the world is going on here. How had these goblins come into possession of the egg? What were there plans with it?
Investigation 16 Guidance 1
While she is doing this, her thoughts keep racing. What did the dragon do to them? It seems the energy did not hurt them but what did it do? What do they want with a bunch of dwarves and gnomes?
(Arcana 8, just in case. Is there any way to tell what kind of dragon is in that egg?)
Listening to the argument, she adds softly:
“Master Reggarn, I am sorry that this is how it went, but I agree that we could not let them take that egg. Not with all that is happening right now. I apologize,, but I feel offering them that was a bad call.“
She glances at the egg, uncertainly.
“Did… did anyone understand what they said to us, just now?“
"Sons and of stone, daughter of earth; protect me. Bring me to safety. Accept my blessing. That's what the wyrm says. I don't trust it and I say we kill it before it has a chance to hatch"
"I will not allow any harm to come to this egg. Let us take it back and see what the elders say. If they deem it a threat and demand it destroyed then I will smash it myself."
"Probably other dragons - or lucky bastards like us who managed to catch it unguarded, well, for the most part. Funny thing - Hitticus, I'm surprised you understood that. Draconic's not a common language to pick up just anywhere."
"I didn't pick it up just anywhere. It wormed its way into my head remote I was trapped in my own insanity. Thankfully Ama," his voice changes to a higher feminine tone "Hi" before returning to his normal flat tone "struck a clever deal with the essence of the red dragon from the ship. That's what gave me Bub." Hitticus stares at the egg "I'll play along just because I don't think I can be take ya in a straight fight Reggarn, but if it makes any threat I'm ending it." Hitticus sheathes his short swords
"Why did your voice suddenly change like that? And why the sudden greeting?" Randrak steps closer to Hitticus. "Is there something that you are not telling us?

"There's lots of things I'm not telling you, things like 'Your a blistering boil on our collective arses' you're going to have to be more specific"
His eyes then glaze over and the feminine voice comes through again "Hello Randrak, I'm Ama, you carried my vessel while Hitticus was raving and I thank you. I am, or was, a Dao with considerable power, but I couldn't stand to see my dwarf in his state of insanity, so I bonded my conscious with the mark the red egg left on him and have been working tirelessly to hold the maddening whispers at bay. Please, don't make too much of a fuss, he's lost a lot of himself and I'm trying to piece him back together."
Alanis as the others talk you investigate the room. You find no clues as to the goblins purpose, but you do fine a small horde made ready for the dragons arrival. In total it contains 500 gold, 30 silver, three potions of healing and a strange shimmering cloak.
At last as the conversation ends Uldran stands still holding the egg. "We take the egg back to Duragath." he says flatly. "Nobody harms it."

Alanis collects her findings and brings them to the group to be distributed.
“Here. It seems they prepared offerings. I am guessing this one’s magical.”
She holds up the cloak.

”I can take a closer look when we get to rest and I can prepare the right concoctions.”
She walks over to Uldran, looking at the egg curiously, but keeping her hands to herself as to not fuel the tense situation even more.
”… and yes, we should bring that egg to Dugarath. I may not understand what they say, but they certainly seem not to be infantile in mind. Maybe they know what is going on and are willing to share in exchange for their safety.”

Mercwri, listening to the somewhat heated discussion, says in a rather harsh tone, "Reggarn, when was the last time you had anything to do with dragons? How is it that you say the thing within that egg is innocent? Remember all that we have been through and suffered because of dragons?" He shakes his head vigorously, "As far as I have seen, nothing good has ever come from a dragon, particularly ones associated with the ilk we're fighting."

What, if anything, can Mercwri discern of the 'communication' from the dragon egg?
Alanis your keen eye identifies this as a cloak of protection.
Mercwri you discern that the plea was made in earnest and you sensed no threat in the power that infused you from it; not to you at least. However, the fact remains that this is a black dragon. A powerful and deadly creature that will given time have power beyond your reckoning.

”I… wh… what would an actual dragon want to be protected from?”

Upon hearing the feminine voice from Hitticus, Randrak spins around to face him with a look of surprise and suspicion.

Hitticus locks eyes with Randrak. Confused by the look. "What?"
