Alanis takes a breath as to release at least enough tension to answer. After all, if this is a Red Hall as well as whatever the white star seems to indicate, there is at least a chance this gnome is not directly involved with Freak’s tormentors. One could always hope.
She does however take note of a few hints that short exchange between the High Shield and the keeper has given her.
1. The High Shield is well enough acquainted to this place - a gnomish community centre of sorts - to know its keeper by name. Given the still low standing of gnomes and the High Shield’s tendency to invoke his superior status that is interesting in itself.
2. Rubrit quite readily adressed the High Shield as majesty. That at the very least indicates some degree of loyalty, superficial or no, considering Eldron has as of yet no right to claim the crown. It could also beg the question if the original Eldron might not have strongly considered the same course of action as his imposter.
She bows her head, conveniently hiding her tense expression, gently touching Grub’s hand to hopefully hint to him to do the same, since she doesn’t know wether he speaks gnomish or not.
”Well met, keeper. We thank you for your hospitality.“
Reggarn will take up the tail of the party and warmly regard the Gnome. With a deep bow, "thank you for such a kind welcome kind Gnome. May the light of Erathis bring peace to us all." He will then touch his chest on the left breast, then the right, then run his thumb from throat to navel as the sign of peace and light from Erathis.
He will make note of the Gnome's reaction and then follow the party into the building.
The Keeper gives you a puzzled look Reggarn but bobs his head in a nod of acknowledgment for you blessing. "Well come on then."
You follow the gnome inside through a maize of corridors. The walls are painted bright red and the floor is a deep maroon. It is clear to see how the building gets its name. At last you come to an open door leading through to a large store room. A young female gnome sits on a stool in the centre of the room picking her nails with a silver dagger.
"Where is the king?" Rubrit asks shortly and the female snorts a laugh.
"Ee aint a King, ees still a Lord apparently."
"Well where is he?"
She shrugs, "Chuffed if I know. Told me to kit these geezers out for a mission didn't ee."
"Right well, I'll go find him while you... do your thing."
And with that Rubrit bustles out of the room looking for the High Shield. The gnome girl plucks a small monocle from her jacket pocket and looks at you Grub.
"Thought so..." she sniffs, "So what do you tossers want, and what in the name of Lolths hairy armpits are you doin draggin a goblin round wiv ya?"
(Should have mentioned that Reggarn said what he said in common. He has no idea what has been said in gnomish he just wanted to give a blessing of the goddess to the gnome to see how they would react.)
(Holy sh*t, what a selection! Fair question would be of course, if our characters even know what those things do…)
Alanis looks uncomfortably over the selection of items, honestly not sure what to make of this sudden generosity even if the High Shield is hoping that they might take care of his Drow problem.
”Ah, excuse me, I don’t think I caught your name… mine is Alanis.”
She bows politely even though the other gnome clearly doesn’t care much for formalities.
”Could I bother you for two questions?
I don’t know how much the High Shield managed to tell you in his hurry, but he claims there a Drow posing as prominent figures of the city by magical means. Would you have anything in you collection to end such an effect? Because I doubt we would get a chance to explain ourselves should we act against them.
(I think you said Corellos is commonly known, but if it is a dodgy topic, Alanis will say the next part in Gnomish)
And - that star on the entrance door. I think I have seen it before, but I might be mixing it up. Do you have ties to Corellos by chance?”
Reggarn will do his best to explain what he THINKS the rod will do in goblin. "I think that it means that when you put it somewhere it can't be moved unless YOU want it to be moved."
Mercwri the tools are yours as is the rod yours Grubb if you want it. (We will say that the gnome will give a brief explanation of each item as you choose them).
"Names Haddie." the gnome replies, "Drow in the city you say? More than I need to know I am sure."
She shrugs and walks over to a small chest in the corner. She opens it up and rummages around inside for a moment mumbling to herself.
"Ha!" she says at last before walking smartly over to the table with the other items, and places a pairs of scrolls atop it. As with all the other items the scroll carries a small label which reads "Two Scrolls of Dispel Magic."
"That should do the trick." she comments.
Following your questions about Corellos and the star she looks troubled for a moment. She replies in gnomish giving the dwarves present a wary glance, "Aye the Star is connected to Corellos as it is to the royal dwarven line, that is to say the High Shields line. What of it?"
In Gnomish : "Glad to hear they got out in time, Corellos is probably the safest place on the island right now."
Seeing that Alanis, Grub and Mercwri have chosen their tools for the task ahead Haddie gives the rest of you an expectant look, waiting for you to choose.
Whispers to Grubb "Duerger on one side and Drow on the other. This is becoming quite the predicament."
He will then reach out and take the pouch with the 4 healing potions and if allowed the broach of shielding as well. He will give Haddie a deep bow and bless her in the same way as the gnome at the entrance.
Randrak eyes the objects with curiosity. He guesses that they are magic of some sort and his instincts tell him to leave them alone. However, it seems that even if he is reluctant to use magic his allies certainly don't seem to be. In addition, it seems that the enemies that are up against are no holds barred with using magic. Perhaps, if he is to see this through with his life, then he too would have to start using magic.
He quickly snatches up the tan bag, and almost looks like he is about to faint, before he shoves the bag into his pocket.
"There that bag looked rather harmless."

"Well," Randrak replies. "I didn't certainly didn't invite the goblin along, but it seems some of us have lost their senses.
Anyway, enough about the goblin, why don't you show us what you've got."

(No worries Reggarn, thanks for the clarification)
"What we got? Well that's a question aint it. What aint we got? if it comes to mundane gear we ave a bit o pretty much everthing."
She taps her nose, "As to the more specialised items well I've picked out a few baubles that might come in handy in a pinch."
She points to a number of items laid out on a nearby table, "You can take one each, bought and paid for by the High Shield imself no less."
On the table you see a number of items laid out with small labels attached to them with string. The labels read :
DM - Warlock of Firetop Mountain
(Holy sh*t, what a selection! Fair question would be of course, if our characters even know what those things do…)

Reggarn will do his best to explain what he THINKS the rod will do in goblin. "I think that it means that when you put it somewhere it can't be moved unless YOU want it to be moved."
"Interesting... My aunt might like." He pockets the Rod before outfitting himself (starting equipment)
Mercwri looks at the things and asks if he can have the +2 tool.
Panic is a mechanism that strengthens the gene pool.
Mercwri the tools are yours as is the rod yours Grubb if you want it. (We will say that the gnome will give a brief explanation of each item as you choose them).

Alanis turns her gaze down as if in apology.
“I’m sorry for probing, Haddy. It is just that my teacher seems to have left for Corellos just in time to escape the chaos, so it was on my mind.”
And it is. Uncomfortably so. Among a lot of other things.
Seeing the scrolls brings a smile back on her face.
”Thank you very much! If any of this insanity is true, now at least we have a chance to prove it.”
She carefully pockets the scrolls.

Grub moves to Reggarn's side and pulls him in for a whispered conversation in Goblin
"White star was on the dark dwarves that took your friend and killed your other friend."
