"Sorry to interrupt," Haldos simply says in the presence of the woman. Once she leaves, he breathes a heavy sigh and says, "Are you sure we couldn't do without the money? Better that woman pays off her debt to the crime lord. If we're buying a round of drinks, I'm sure we can do it out of our own pockets."
"I don't see how her debt is our problem," Lia counters as they walk back towards the tavern. "Besides, if she's going to steal to pay it off, she should at least try a little harder. I mean, come on, the 'bumping into someone' trick? That only ever works in much more crowded areas."
You guys order a couple of pints of good ale in the Clinks inn and tavern.
What you guys know so far: The mayor has hired you to track down his shipment and the crew that was delivering it, headed towards Reminster.
Quinn Cornwallis might have had some dealings with the locals here in Legrove before he left.
He also is potentially the culprit behind the snakes at the well.
Sorry, new to DMing so I'm trying to tie everything together to make it fun but avoid everything being obvious lol. I want the information you guys know, come from your actions. If that makes sense
Once they've settled into the tavern with food and ale in front of them, Lia turns to Finn with a teasing grin on her face. "So, did you manage to keep the pouch this time or did you get it stolen again?"
Finn, responds with a smile of his own. "I usually keep my coins in my breast pocket, I even had a pocket especially sewn in for the job. I guess my mind was preoccupied with something or ...someone else".
So, moving forward, assuming you intend to head towards Reminster; it's about a week's ride from Legrove. Is there anything you guys want to do before leaving Legrove? Or on the way to Reminster? Horses are about 2gp/day to rent or 10 gp to buy (they're very old horses but they'll do the trick)
OOC: Finn's closing night includes stories, songs, jokes, a sword fight with the "Invisible Knight (Mage hand) and a "mind reading" skit involving the Message cantrip. sing-alongs and local folk dancing is also a big part of the night.
After lunch, Lia disappears to go explore the town on her own. She looks around for any sign of her contacts, but given how small the town is, she isn't surprised when she finds none. She returns to the tavern late in the evening, recalling something Finn said about performing. She sits at a table in the far corner, not drawing attention to herself as she watches. It's tempting to volunteer for the "mind-reading," but she reminds herself that she's supposed to be laying low.

Monk-E rolls his eyes as he eats his plate of boar, eggs, and bread.
The next morning, you guys head out towards Reminster. You've been traveling for a couple days on foot, farms have become a less frequent and travelers more spread out compared to other roads where the distance between towns is shorter. The road has climbed higher as you enter the forested and hill-covered country (not towering mountains like Alaska IRL but still large enough hills to be considered "mountains").
You now move up a narrow, rocky track. A sheer wall of natural stone is on your left, the path falling away to a steep cliff on the right. There is a small widening ahead, where you see a gate to what must be a newly constructed fort (there's a civil war happening to the north). The men dressed in piece-mail armor who guard the entrance shout at you to give your names and state your business.
They all seem to be wearing blue clothing with their armor as to identify themselves as members of the army. All along the wall you see curious faces peering down at you - eager to welcome new champions of Law, but ready with crossbow and sword to give another sort of welcome to enemies.
"There's no need to shout, " says Monk-E in a calming voice. "I'm Monk-E. My companions can introduce themselves. We were hired by our mayor to track down a missing delivery and its crew. It was heading to Remininster when it went missing. Have any suspicious cargo or people passed through here in the past few days?"
(OOC he's standing up on the wall) He looks to another guard beside him and back to you, "Nothing suspicious as of late, just the normal caravan here and there. And who are the rest of you?"

Before she heads off, she replies "I don't know, he passed through town a couple days ago. He didn't say where he was going"
Heading to the tavern then?
Finn turns shaking his head. "Well folks let's have some lunch. Anything but roasted serpent!"
"I guess there's nothing we can do to help her now," Haldos shrugs and joins Finn heading back toward the tavern.

OOC: Finn expects to perform tonight. and after lunch he will seek out a horse. walking is for regular folk.
The night of performance, for Finn, is going great! Anyone want to join in? (I promise it'll pick up in the morning :3 )
Edit: at least, in the sense of how enthusiastic the crowd is. Performance check?
