Into the Mists-The Condemnation of Strahd

Gimble:

Hearing a kerfuffle from across the room, Gimble spins around and looks for the source of the disturbance.

Initiative:  19

"Great leaping lizards! It's a bloody giant snakebeast!" Bob can't help but cry out as he scrambles backwards, only keeping his balance thanks to his sturdy, wideset frame. With his concentration thoroughly broken his spell fizzles out.

Gimble:

With the crowd of people between him and the monster, Gimble flicks his hand and his magic takes hold, sucking the heat from around the grick and attempting to slow its reactions.

Frostbite:  DC 13 Constitution Save or Disadvantage on next attack and 5 Cold damage.

Bob feels compelled to stand firm despite his mind telling him to run. He draws his scimitar and drops into a low crouch, shield raised. Taking the Dodge action.

If Gillain can reach the creature and get into melee, she’ll do that and get as much between it and Bob as she can.

As she dashes over, she draws her spear. She tries to stab the thing and then bash it too.

Attack action: Attack: 8 Damage: 6 (piercing damage)

Bonus action attack (polearm master): Attack: 12 Damage: 7 (bludgeoning damage)

Tio will move to strike the creature then as her bonus action she will use a ki point to dodge.

Hit: 6

Damage: 5

Toi strikes the Grick but the Grick moves just in time, making Toi's attack a glancing blow and doing no damage.

The Grick's tries to attack its main target, Bob.

Hit: 16

 The tentacles of the Grick sink deep into Bob's flesh doing 10 points of damage. The Grick then pulls Bob towards its beak and snaps at him. The beak bites into bob's armor but does not penetrate it.

Gimble cast his spell. 14 The Grick fails its saving throw and takes damage from the spell as frost forms on the creature.

Gillain steps forward and thrusts with her spear. The spear point misses the creature. Gillain attempts to strike the creature with the shaft of her spear but Bob's flailing limbs knock the shaft aside causing Gillain to miss. 

Bob was attempting to dodge but the creature has latched onto him. (Bob may change his action) Blood oozes from where the tentacles have latched onto Bob's flesh.

Bob cries out in horror and pain as he's ensared by tentacles, immediately struggling to get them off.

Acrobatics check to escape grapple: 5

Bob fails to escape the grip of the beast.

From across the room, a beam of purple and black energy erupts from Dmitri's outstretched hand, striking the Grick doing 9 points of damage.

Round 2:
Toi: 22

Gimble: 19 (highest Dex)
Gillain: 19
Bob: 8

Gimble:

OOC:  The Grick should have disadvantage on its next attack due to the Frostbite save failure last round.

”Kill it quickly before it hurts Bob more!” calls Gimble in the excitement of battle.  Continuing his manipulation of the elements, he attempts to freeze the Grick and further slow its attacks!

Frostbite:  DC 13 Con or have disadvantage on next attack and 2 Cold damage.

Following Gimble, Tio will pick he knew up then throws a front kick. Then as her bonus action she will strike it again with  another kick.

Hit1: 10

Damage1: 3

Hit2: 7

Damage2: 3

The grick really seems to have caught everyone a little flat footed here. Gillain misses twice, Bob has gotten grabbed, Now Tio seems to miss twice too...

Everything seems to slow down around Gillain. She’s seeing everything in horrifyingly-detailed, slow-motion, as she struggles to hold her dual-mind together and focussed.

She feels an energy surround her, and penetrate through her, and feels like it might erupt from within, but as she readjusts herself to act, she can see the grick moving to act itself. She won’t be quick enough!........

((Gillain comes after the grick, and what it does will impact what she does in return, so I’ll post after it’s acted))

Bob just continues to struggle, cursing in Dwarvish and Common and even throwing in a few childish semi-swear words like "darn" and "frick" for good measure.

Acrobatics: 7

Round 2:

Toi strikes at the Grick. The movement of the Grick and Bob's flailing create a harder target for the Warforged monk and both Toi's attacks miss.

The Grick, focused on Bob, the meal in its grasp, and attempts to snap at Bob with its beak.
Save: 4
Hit: 4 (miss)
Frost covers the Grick causing it to shiver and during the body convulsion, it snaps its beak and misses Bob.

Gimble casts Frostbite again and causes another layer of frost to form on the Grick.

Gillain moves towards the Grick. (action?)

Bob struggles with the grip of the creature but the creature keeps ahold of Bob. 

Dmitri fires another Eldritch Blast at the creature. The blast strikes the creature doing 6 points of damage. 

Round 3:

Gimble: 19 (highest Dex)
Gillain: 19
Bob: 8
Dmitri: 5

Seeing Bob is okay for now, Gillain’s round 2 action would be to attack twice with her spear...

Bonus action attack (polearm master): Attack: 6 Damage: 6 (bludgeoning damage)

Assuming Bob doesn’t fall unconscious, Gillain’s round 3 action would be to attack twice with her spear...

Attack action: Attack: 18 Damage: 9 (piercing damage)

Bonus action attack (polearm master): Attack: 19 Damage: 9 (bludgeoning damage)

As Gillain lands a critical hit, she feels a surge of divine power erupt from within, “LEAVE MY SISTER ALONE!!!”.

Adding ‘divine smite’ to Gillain’s critical hit, for an additional 7 radiant damage.
