"Hehha," chuckles Quin, "Well creepy rundown house...just seemed the thing to do. Or at least in my case kind of a habit." He shrugs as he begins his search for the usual.
Quin notices a couple coins on the ground next to the pile of wood on the left side of the room, while Quiller notices the hilt of a weapon sticking out of the pile of wood on the right side of the room.
OOC When you are doing a perception check, it would help if you specifically said what you are looking at. Standing in the entry to a room and rolling perception, I'm not going to list off all of the hidden treasure in the room, the traps, and secret doors. For this room, saying you are looking at one of the piles of wood, or looking at the wall to the left (or right, or back wall, or floor) would help.
Years ago, I read a post about a D&D adventure where players woke up trapped in a room without any doors or windows. The players went through various searches and couldn't find there way out. The members slowly succumbed to dehydration. As the last character was dying, he looked up and noticed there was no ceiling to the room. My thought upon reaching that was "What a lousy DM. Unless they were trapped in an underground cavern, the players would have noticed the shadows shifting as the sun moved across the sky. And, they would have known that when the sun set." I won't do stuff like that, but, I also won't give away everything hidden in a large room simply because someone rolls a high perception check.
Quiller's bolt hits the wood pile with a resounding "thunk." A few pieces of wood fall to the ground, but, other than that, there is no movement from the pile.
"It is difficult to tell from the what left here. The wood is probably the remains of furniture. There are some splotches of paint on the back wall, that may have been a mural, but, I can't tell for any more than that." Vothrolo responds.
Quiller will retrieve his bolt and see what sort of weapon it is. “Well, that pile is dead, killer Quiller, ha! That has a ring to it doncha think. Maybe I should be thinkin’ o’ barding?”

Davril moves over to the pile of wood on the left and uses his spear to gently probe the pile of wood (I'm picturing from the description more of a loose pile of scrap branches and such rather than a neatly stacked pile of firewood, is that correct?).
(OCC: completely agree. I should have been more specific. When I do a general perception roll like that I'm more trying to see if there is anything interesting in general. Just as a way to give the DM a way to move forward or at least be able to give a general direction to take. Sort of a passive aggressive way to ask for help on what direction to take. Often there aren't more than 1 or 2. For an example you see a desk with an overturned chair, a floor scrape infront of a bookcase, or even a general description of the items in the room. All we had were room dimensions and shadows cast from the room contents. The perception check was more meant to reveal what was in the room with maybe one item of interest revealed. Not expecting every little secret to be revealed on a single roll. I always expect DM discretion on how much or how little to reveal. Even a failed check though gives a DM a chance or more accurately, (and hopefully) prompted, a description of what was in here (like two piles of wood). Each discovery forcing a new check to find the next. Like you see two piles of wood, A torn tapestry yada yada. Investigate wood, new check, you find some coins, new check to recognize the coins and so on. It's my bad for taking the short cut of assuming everyone is doing a methodical search and that it was a given. You know, spread out, start at the door, work along the wall and floor etc. I will try to be more specific with my future intentions.)
Quin watches Davril probe the pile with his daggers drawn. If nothing appears he will ask Davril to help him move the pile so he can look underneath.
Lorgar sees the group linger without focus in the room, thinking about the time. How long do they have before sunset? Not wanting to stay so near the accursed forest in the darkness he assumes the role of reason and urges the group forward.
"No good will come from us pausing, for the only thing that might happen is us losing daylight.... Let us clear this wooden rubble, search through it and then see if there is something beneath it. Show Vothrolo everything we find. Check the floor and walls aswell. We can go to the next room once we are done here. If it is too dark get the glowing stone. I also have some torches if we need more light." Lorgar then turns to Lukas again: "Lukas, please take point and keep watch while the rest of us work through the room. If you need more light tell me so and I can cast Light somewhere on your gear or near the entrance. We can manage with torches for working, but if you don' spot our stalkers we are in trouble, and I do believe we are beign stalked." He pauses for a moment, then turns to Balthazar: "Balthazar, you know a ritual to detect magic, don't you? Keep it up please as much as you can. We don't want to miss something, or someone."
"smooth."
Davril smiles slightly, "I'm sure its just nerves of having everyone watching you. Don't worry, you'll get used to it soon enough."
"maybe so, but a leaf is no cover."
Quiller follows Quin, also being 'shadowy'. He will peer into the room.

Quiller will shoot a bolt into the woodpile with the handle of a weapon protruding from it.
