Vothrolo follows along with Quin, Lorgar, and Davril as they head back over the bridge. Once across the bridge, the party notices a large house sitting across the small plaza from the church. All of the other structures in Springholde are made of wood, but, this structure is a two story house constructed of blocks of shaped stone, cemented together. This building is also the only two story structure in the village.
At the door, a young woman answers the door and leads them into a sitting room, saying "Please, have a seat, Junkar Hannom will be with you shortly."
After a fairly short wait, a tall, broad-shouldered man in his 50s, enters the room. He wears the clothing one would expect a working man to wear, rather than the headman of a village, even one as small as Springholde. Upon noticing Vothrolo, a smile lights up his face. "Ah, Vothrolo, my favorite scholar! What brings you to my door, and who are your companions?"
"Watchers blessing upon thee Junkar. I am Lorgar of the Helmite order. Teh-Koh advised us to inform thee of a possible greenskin threat nearby..."
If the Junkar shows interest in the topic Lorgar will inform him of their encounter with the vile goblins , the fact that they had maps and journals which no vermin should possess, the disturbing notion they mentioned the same king as the goblins across the border by the cart and their cunning maze beneath it.
After that he will mention the "merchants" and their drug, and finally the horse thieves.
Quiller looks Junkar up and down, nods politely and says, "Quiller." He listens as Lorgar recounts their adventures so far, grunting in agreement now and again, if only to prove he is alive and listening.
OOC: Junkar is a title. In the Kardagen Empire it is the equivalent of a knight, so the lowest ranking noble title.
IC: The Junkar nods his head as everyone introduces themselves. When Lorgar starts talking about the goblins, his interest in the party intensifies, asking several questions of Lorgar and the other party members to increase his understanding of the goblins. When Lorgar starts talking about Budeim and Tinrea, Hannom at first appears puzzled and then, slowly a look of recognition comes over his face.
When Lorgar and the other party members finish speaking, the Junkar pauses for a minute as the young woman comes back in carrying a tray with glasses of berry juice for the party to enjoy. After the woman departs, the Junkar begins to talk.
“I have been hearing stories of goblins moving about in the valley. Some of the tales I’ve heard say they’ve been seen in the company of a hill giant or two. Glad that the ones you encountered didn’t have those companions. I will admit, I’ve never heard of a goblin ruling over as territory that would extend from here to the area you first encountered the so called “king.” I’m not sure what all this means, but, I will send a letter off to the Doge of Tralbibo. He will have an interest in this development.
“I have encountered Budeim and Tinrea, or Beber and Rerdol as they are also called. They’ve spent their lives jumping from one scheme to another and always trying to stay one step ahead of the law. There are a number of smugglers that move through this portion of the valley by traveling right next to the Blokendrohl Forest. They usually do it first thing in the morning or late in the day. You don’t want to be too near that blight after the sun goes down. There probably is a spot an hour or two to the south that people use as a campsite before sneaking past town. I don’t have the man power to find it and try to root out whatever lawbreakers use that area. As long as they don’t mess with the village on their way through, I leave them alone. But, like many people in this valley, I would be happy to see Beber, Rerdol and their ilk get their just rewards.
“As far as horse thieves go, I haven’t encountered any horse thieves recently. We don’t have too many horses in the village. Just a few old plow horses that no one would want to steal. And, no one in this village has the money to purchase a horse, whether stolen or not. Mercer would be a better source of information on the horse thieves than I."
"Can you wait here for a minute."
The Junkar then leaves the room, only to return a minute later, carrying a small purse. He hands the purse over to Lorgar, saying "We are a poor town, but, the Doge does provide us some limited funds to pay use to hire swords that will take out threats to our community. And, the good cleric Teh-Koh contributes money from time to time. Consider this a thank you from the village for ridding us of the goblins. That is a deed all the townsfolk will appreciate."
"Is there anything else I can help you with today?"
"I am personally thankful for the information, but i don't need anything from you, Junkar." Lukas states, respectfully, making it clear that the smuggler-related intelligence was recompense enough. That and he had gathered a fair bit of money from the ruins, why take from the headman of the township?
"Thank you for your kindness Junkar. I can not speak for the others, but I would like for my share to be invested in the arming of the miltia. I fear that you will need them soon."
Having no qualms about getting paid Quin accepts the bag of coins as he quips, "Thank you! It's nice to have ones work appreciated. Feel free to call on us again should you need us. I'll make sure this all gets to the rightful place. And thank you again for your hospitality." Quin then waits for the party to finish up any final thoughts, questions, or good byes before heading off back to Mercers.
Lorgar turns his head slightly, clearly dissapointed (even if not surprised) by his companions desire for gold. He then turns to Balthazar: "So, where do you stand Balthazar? Will you be taking your 30 gold, or join in with Lukas and me and leave it for arming a militia against the greenskin threat? That's a lot of spears."
Balthazar muses, pulling at one of his gloves. "It would be good to keep a bit back - we'll be travelling onwards soon, remember. But I do feel that these people will need it more than I on whatever weapons and training you can afford." He takes 10 gp and leaves the rest.
As they are departing Lorgar contemplates on the smugglers.
"Vothrolo, the Junkar said that the smuggler camp is nearby, and that they attempt to cross the border early in the morning, or late in the day. It is already past midday, we might be there just in time for the evening attempt. Those two miscreants already had one artifact that you are interested in, they might know about more of them. Do you want us to investigate this camp instead of going straight to Mercers, in the hope of chancing upon them?"
Davril goes along with the group, interested in learning more about what's happened previously to the group he's now traveling with.

"Lukas of House Greypeak, fighter-for-hire, currently contracted to Vothrolo as security, Lord Hannom." Lukas stands at attention.
(ooc: lukas has a noble background, but is Junkar a name or title?)
Quin nods in agreement, "Same."

Davril leans against the wall near the door they came in and nods, "Davril." He looks a cross between curious and uncomfortable in this noble setting.
Quiller looks Junkar up and down, nods politely and says, "Quiller." He listens as Lorgar recounts their adventures so far, grunting in agreement now and again, if only to prove he is alive and listening.

“Uh hum,” Quiller looks at Quinn. “That’s what, 30 gold each? Could do with a nice cold ale ‘bout now.”

Davril takes his share of the coin, "Thank you sir."

"aye, the township armed is better than it being defenseless."
"Aye about 30." Quin says with the slightest bit of sadness in his voice. He carefully doles out 30 to each memeber who accepts a share.

Happy to see that atleast some of the gold is left for the townspeople, Lorgar thanks the Junkar once more for his help and turns to leave.
