Kree gives a nod to everyone as they come down. "Hope all of you had a nice rest. We're gunna need it." He says, chuckling a bit. "But yeah, I'm good to go. I'll meet you all by the dogs. I have a quick stop to make."Kree leaves them with that and heads out.
As Kree heads out to the shops, Gilgin spots his chance to catch the speaker without their mysterious new companion keeping watch. “Hey, Mr Speaker! Whazzit again... Maxildanaar? Remember me? I caught that big old fish a while back, me and Nyx ‘ere. There was a big fella too, and another dwarf who sang all the time, I’m surprised I never pushed him overboard.” He stands at the doorway waving one arm as he points to his face. “We’re gonna go save some poor fella who got lost in the Cairn, fancy a quick catchup while we wait for him to do a wee bit of shopping?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
WIth Kree finishing up his stops, he heads over to the rest (When they are ready) and joins them at the dogs. He walks over to one, pet's it a bit then sits on the back, waiting.

Gilgin, Speaker Maxildanar apologised to you, but he does not remember you. He wishes you all the best on your mission and good luck. He asks you a favour, if on your way back, you could bring him news from the other villages, how they are doing and what may be going on there.
You make your way to Gareths and Keegans house, where Gareth already prepared the dogs and the sled for you. Boy is on a separate leash and since Hifu seams to bonded with him, Gareth passes it to the dragonborn. After a few more minutes Kree also joins you with a slightly bigger backpack then what you remember.
On your way out, the guards at the gate stop you again: “You are free to leave, but since today is the New Moon, there is a tax if you want to enter Targos later today or tomorow. If you do want to go, please state your name, so that we can update the register for the city.”
”Hifu here, from Lonelywood. On a mission to save Keegan. Since we are outsiders and acting to help one of your own, would be appreciative of being exempted from your “tax.”
Hifu bends down and gives Boy a rub under his chin and on his chest, then stands up and looks at the guards. He rewards any growling, aggressive stance with a “good Boy! Let’s go find him!”
“We don’t make the rules, if you want to enter on the day of the New Moon or the next, you have to pay. You can either stay here or come back in a few days if you don’t like it.” The guards don’t seam to care for your reason to not pay your tax. But they do check the big book your names were written down into yesterday and make a note next to it.
(OOC: I'm ok with any direction. A quicker way would probably be to travel toward Termalaine, then off-road to Kelvin. But that might be significantly more dangerous than just following the path.)
Gilgin gives his name, but grumbles. “Speaker Maxildanaar has tasked us with bringing back news from other towns. Put that in yer book while yer at it.”
(ooc - I believe the plan was to follow in Keegans footsteps, so if that!s the path you said then lets do it)
“And if he did ask you for that, then he will most likely reward you if you return with valuable news, but that won’t change the fact that for two days per month, today and tomorow, you will need to pay a fee if you want to enter the city. Now be on your way.”
You get the feeling that you are neither the first nor the last to complain about that tax and that the guard had many such conversations over the last few months.

9 am: It is still dark and a beautiful tapestry of stars covers the night clear sky when you leave the city of Targos behind you.The clear sky makes it even colder and the frost cuts into every little bit of exposed skin like a knife. Hifu and Kree with their snowshoes have an easy time keeping up with the dogs, but even with all his gear in the sled, Gilgin struggles with the snow and the pace. It is a slow and steady march eastward and an hour after dawn you can see the shadow of Bryn Shander, like a small hill against the dark blue horizon in the otherwise flat white wasteland. But you follow the tall wooden poles that stick out of the snow and lead the way east towards Lac Dinneshere. A few hour later just after dusk you reach a small roadhouse that works as landmark and shelter at the Eastway intersection. You rest here for some time, before starting turning north towards Caer-Dineval. Over the last few hours, the wind started to pick up and clouds covered the sky. An hour after you left the shelter, it becomes clear that another blizzard is blowing over the land. By your estimation, you are still around four hours away from Caer-Dineval. What do you do? I also need a survival check with advantage from one of you.
“Alright matey, no need to throw accusations left and right here and all around here. We ain’t no tax dodgers! Just wanted to make sure you know we’re on official business here. We’re working for the man, together! In fact, I have a tax of my own, for holding up official business, and it seems you just hit the time limit on it.” Gilgin hops from foot to foot, the grin on his face growing the more irritated the guard grows. “I’ll let you off..... this time.” He winks at the guard, before skipping off, looking quite pleased with himself. After a few paces, he stops himself, looking a little embarrassed before grunting and going back to his normal grumpy shuffle.

Nyx files out the door behind Kree to see where he's going, but doesn't follow him.
Nyx, you see that Kree heads off in the general direction of the store.

Nyx joins the people heading to the dogs. She wants to stay indoors for as long as possible.

A small bundle somewhere in the vicinity says, "Nyx" and moves on.

Kree guides his sled to the guard and calls out. "Names Kree, update it, and keep it off will ya." He then proceeds to ride off, following Nyx.

I assume that you follow the Eastway past Bryn Shander and then turn north towards Caer Duneval. Is that correct?

((Hifu votes for the path like you say Bhuraelea, not off-road.))

Nyx also votes for path as deep snow is super difficult for her.

(Yes, let’s follow Keegan’s path)
